"was that the sword that seals the darkness? A blade that shatters so easily against my power, cannot save you from me..."
No better way to reintroduce Ganondorf into the series for the first time in like 17 years than having him destroy the master sword and belittle it.

I like how the Zonai vocals are dominant until 7:42 where the piano overpowers them, foreshadowing the Upheaval and Ganondorf's return
piano/organ is also ganondorf's instrument, so this is the moment he begins to break the seal
The piano is also reminiscent of the guardian theme
i love how they made the piano sound like tubular bells thats super impressive
@@pyramidserum yeah, that's right !

I hope you all got to finish the prologue cause holy fuck that scene got me literally dropping my jaw 💀☠️
“Zelda… You, who wield that’s fragile sword, are Link…”
Same. I am a huge fan of dark stuff and this scene totally brought back Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess feelings and I LOVE it :D
The atmosphere was just incredible - I didn't expect to be in the action so quickly!
Are you even realizing how stupid this comment is? Like who spends 70 bucks on a game and doesnt even play the prologue? Also the scene was in the first trailer so everyone knew about it already
My jaw dropped lower then the depths itself.
The prologue builds tension so well, and the music is PHENOMENAL - better than most horror games I've seen recently ngl!!
I actually agree. People should take notes on how to properly build tension through more than music without combat. xD
The music that gradually increases the atmosphere was incredible this was crazy !
I love this theme and how well it builds tension. It's so effective that the very first time I watched Zelda explaining the murals on the walls of the main chamber I thought for sure there was going to be an explosion of malice/gloom right then and there.
It builds tension so later it would have no tension
yeah i agree this music is so great

Reminds me of Majora's Mask and Twilight Princess, the vocals and all. This game is amazing
Because it sounds like the occa and city in the sky
It sounds mysterious and mystical at the beginning, but the creepiness and utter dread I was feeling as I went deeper... 💀
I thought there was gonna be an easy boss fight coming up and then its just like three keese lol
What is amazing about this tune is the dissonance caused by the gaps in the notes for the first 3 minutes. Just little note stabs with space in between.
Your mind tries to fill in the missing notes to resolve the melody and it makes for an unsettling feeling. Keeps you on the edge and as the notes gets filled, the picture becomes clearer around the time mark that the mural is revealed showing the full extent of Hyrule’s dark past.
The prologue was incredible, even though we'd already seen a bit of it in the trailers - it was just incredible !!
Especially because we all knew what the missing notes were from the first trailer
When it said “E” I truly felt that, I shed a tear(s of the kingdom) 🥲
The fact that as soon as you pop the game card in the slot then you play this intro is beyond amazing. Not even a menu to load the game. Just straight into it.
This whole intro really set a great tone of the game.

I don’t wanna spoil anything but god dude this is so perfect for the prologue 😩
Set the tone perfectly for this Legend. Calamity Ganon was a destructive force; Ganondorf himself was destruction incarnate. Love how they made this both prequel and sequel to literally all of Zelda’s Legends as well as set stage for another Hyrule Warriors spin off with Zonai Link (assuming he wasn’t erased due to Zelda’s Time Traveling Antics).
I got to the part just before you find the swirly zonai hand, and (spoiler alert) just before you enter that room the music gets a sudden burst of energy and gets more intense. I genuinely felt shivers go down my spine.
0:32 Zelda’s Lullaby First 3 Notes.
This song is just a complete CHEF kiss. Whoever was having fun experimenting to produce this song has my absolute respect. Unsettling, magical, mysterious, calm yet tense... It's like a time capsule into the events that LEAD to you finding Ganon's mummified, undead BODY at the bottom. So perfect. xD

This moment
As the full melody assembles, and after 4 long years, the song that was drilled into my head is finally played in its full glory
*I relished every last second*
All of the Zonai music sounds so amazing I love it’s style so much. I don’t skip any of the shrine cutscenes because I just enjoy listening it so much. Such a a perfect way to open the game
I’ve always wondered how the composers made that noise. Did they like reverse a female choir and cut the audio into different pieces and distorted them or something?
yeah i’m like 99% sure that this is a reversed choir, at least that’s also what people thought about the song in the 2nd trailer too
I love how this music goes more and more powerful when you approach the deep of the tunnel
walking slow during that part made it so much creepier and better lol
Argh the way it so subtly builds up is so genius I’m obsessed
This theme just works so perfectly. Everyone knew from seeing the trailer that we would find gannondorf down there. Even when Zelda and link seem to be happy and content with a new discovery, the uneasy theme still plays. As we know the inevitable is coming.
“Rauru placed his faith in you… and that was all you could do?”
"How do you... know our names?"
@@feenickstv4209 proceeds to lift the entire castle into the sky
I love how this theme feels like absolute death. Every step forward you get the feeling that you should NOT be there, and the best time to leave was 5 minutes ago. I did not expect that from a Nintendo game, but this whole sequence was so unsettling. I loved it.
I saw a creepy zelda playthrough it's called Ben drowned
Sehr cooler track
The most stressful sound in Zelda
i'm probably overthinking all of this, but the soundtrack really does match the world building of the prologue; it sounds really stupid, but the soundtrack really does encapsule exaclty what is going on in the game world, its really well put together
the looping of the Zonai voices, which seems to loop from the "clapping" sound onward seems to allude that the magic binding Ganondorf is essentially a looping curse, ensuring that he remains in stasis in that one spot for as long as the magic remains active.
at the start of the prologue, the loop is fragmented, with some of the voices not being included, which I think indicates the magic was damaged to some degree by the calamity, allowing some of ganondorf's gloom to escape. the "clapping" sound only plays every two loops as well, further implying the magic is weakened
the loop becomes less fragmented as the prologue progresses, indicating the magic's grip becoming stronger once more, up until the third phase of the soundtrack where it sounds completely repaired
from this point onward though, the piano starts to kick in, starting small but gradually getting louder and eventually even overpowers the voices, representing Ganondorf resisting against the magic, attempting to break free. the loop of the Zonai voices continues to get faster and faster, as the magic tries to keep hold but eventually the voices diminish completely, at which point Ganondorf has been able to revive
The distortion of this song really gave me Majora’s mask vibes.
This was just a glorious set up man that intro was pristineeeee my boy 🙏 fucking perfect I’ve waited so long
Ganondorf was like: Nigga, all I did was wake up, and I broke your sword, you’re washed! Take this L and go!
This music at the beginning of the game is absolutely enthralling. Not to mention Matt Mercer's voice acting of Gannondorf in the intro too I can't remember the last time a game made me this hyped up.
the prologue music and just prologue of totk in general is probably one of the best intros to a game I've ever witnessed

Dont worry its nothing 😈
this whole plot of this game makes you realize, this version of Ganon has been beneath hyrule castle since before the castle even existed. meaning before the minish cap, ocarina of time, twilight princess. Wind Waker... all of those games. Ganondorf was under the castle, reaching out to others, Other future male gerudos and evil forces. trying to come back through them.
No, this ganondorf was there 10 000 years before breath of the wild. In fact, that's between the last game of each timeline and breath of the wild
@@antonindocquir9021 ...do you not remember the part where hyrule was JUST founded? the past took place at most a few hundred years after skyward sword. giving enough time for the skyloftians to settle on the surface and form a kingdom over a few generations. the main zelda games before BOTW take place across the span of a few thousand years. given the fact that pretty much all the games have direct few generational ties with each other. BOTW takes place "long enough in the future that the differences don't matter." which is where the 10,000 number came from but that isn't an exact number, 10,000 plus another few to possibly several thousand years back into the past isn't a stretch as they never state WHEN the past zelda was sent to was... only that it was the founding of Hyrule, when all the races first came together under one kingdom. theres only 1 point in time where that could be... between Skyward sword and Ocarina of time. as at that point, the triforce wasn't even known about by anyone but the royal family, hense why that ganondorf didn't know about it or why he didn't try to go after it. plus, BOTW states that calamity ganon has tried to come back hundreds of times throughout history, but failing each time, always being stopped. it's why he came back as pure malice the last few times. the Ganondoft from OOT does make up most of the ganon appearances, but it is confirmed theres more then one, taking that and Demise's curse into consideration, it's not that hard to think that this version of Ganon has been using the power of his tear to influence things even within his hibernation. it'd make sense that he'd latch onto his own dependents. and lastly, Hyrule castle didnt exist back then. it was built sometime after the founding of the kingdom. no doubt their idea was to build over ganondorf to better keep an eye on him. but as we know, it seems most people forgot about the giant labyrinth under the castle. but all of that has existed for so long throughout all the games. which is why i said, this version of Ganon has been there the whole time.
@@JSheerXeno54to quote the film Jaws: Rauru founded A hyrule, not THE hyrule. If gannondorf was sealed in the way he was, other incarnations of demises hate could not reincarnate into others like vaati or Oot gannondorf. Also the Rito are kinda shown in the past. Hyrule Historia confirms that no male gerudo has been born since Totk Gannondorf, so the one we see in Oot HAS to come before Totk’s past. I’m fairly sure that Totk’s art book calls Rauru and Sonia’s Hyrule “NEWfound Hyrule” but you’d have to check me on that. On top of that in the zonai memories you can see that the zonai structures are built on top of OLDER Hyrulean ruins. And remember hyrule castle was completely destroyed in Oot, and botw and totk (present) take place after Oot in a timeline merge. What’s likely the case with Totk’s timeline placement is that the original kingdom fell or was destroyed at some point. When the zonai descended they rebuilt the kingdom and “founded” the new hyrule. In an interview with the devs, it’s pain staking obvious that they think the imprisoning war is the one that happens after Oot.
@mrbiscuits001 all well and good and that may be the case but the problem is. If that were true, it means every last structure you find in botw and totk are NOT the original structures from the other games and that these new two games have nothing to do with anything. And every reference ever made is hogwash.
@@JSheerXeno54 They're not the original structures, the map of an old castle town is different to the old games because so much time has passed. Legends still persist sure but thats entirely plausible. For example we know the exact story of the oldest work of fiction ever. It's not hogwash, it's just a long time apart.
This was one hell of a prologue for the series

I may not have mentioned this but the horror in this game achieved by Ganondorf in this game along with the Prologue surpasses all of his previous versions and takes on a demonic form similar to Demise from Skyward Sword but has a fear factor and difficulty akin to a kind of Ganondorf that hasn't been seen for over a decade.

When I heard this soundtrack alone i knew it had already one upped BOTW and it was only the start. BOTW lacked massively in musical scores
They nailed it.
BOTW definitely lacked in prominent music at most points, only having the Horse Riding track, Guardian Trauma track, two or three battle themes and the final boss having three prominent songs. And Hyrule Castle
@Wreck17Mitch definately agree. I've been sat in Gerudo valley for ages before the Temple as I love the ominous soundtrack.
@@Wreck17Mitch Shrine themes, boss themes, village themes, Hyrule Castle, Final Trial, Monk Maz Koshia, Dark Beast Ganon, the Champion's themes. Just because it didn't have a central field theme does not mean BOTW lacked in music.
@@mr.awesome6011 that’s my bad, I know BOTW had a shitload of songs but my point was they didn’t stick in my mind.
