Well done to Microshift rim brakes are still around and very popular as are mechanical discs.
Microshift even have a nine speed version of the sword with no clutch on the derailleur.
Having Microshift quality in a drop bar shifted 1× clutched derailleur system with ten gears is excellent.
Restomod builds are looking even better with this type of equipment available.
It seems like whether it be an MTB build or a gravel bike build Microshift is stepping up and covering it all for a reasonable price.

I would like to do a restomod build of a nineties steel road bike.
Using Sword black brifters and a nine speed cassette and a Sword clutchless derailleur.
Chinese Action square tapered cranks with a narrow wide chainring can be had for an extremely low price with a good quality Shimano B-UN55 square tapered bottom bracket used along with Tektro Mini V brakes.
I would keep and refurbish the old school wheels and hubs with a modern headset and handlebars fitted while also using a new seat.

Great video. I have (and love) Advent and Advent X on two of my bikes. On both derailleurs, I experienced the same weak clutch you’re dealing with, and I found that it was possible to adjust the tension. Much better now. I’d imagine the same is possible with Sword.

If you want better shifting sensah gra10 has the same pull ratio as microshift sword, the shifting works perfectly and the throw is much less
I checked the MicroShift Sword Shifter Install/Adjustment manual. Doesn't look like you can adjust the throw of the shifters, just the forward back position of the large shifter the same way the brake can be adjusted in and out. Could your shift cable have stretched at all from the initial install? I feel like there's gotta be a way to shorten the distance required for the derailleur to engage.
Also for reaching the install screw for the clamp, go from the rider side of the grip and fold that forward instead of pulling the hood side back.
That's a lot of distance to push that lever to shift. Glad the hoods are comfy though...

The Sword components seem like a pretty decent upgrade over their Advent X
Their chainring comes in 40 or 42 for 1x, and it says it's optimised for 50mm chainline. They'll only work for BB shell of 68mm. For 2x, chainline is 47mm.
Thank you! I think I did read this somewhere. I think I'm using 48.5mm chainline, it's a Praxis Alba crankset with a 3mm offset chainring. I don't know if Sword is meant for 130mm or 135mm hubs, assuming 135mm and 50mm chainline the ideal for my bike with 130mm would be 47.5 so pretty close. In any case my setup seems to shift pretty well.
Thanks. So few reviews of this group set. Been thinking of doing a road restomod for mountain riding with this 2x version of this group. Microshift has not been marketing this well.
It seems like you need a few more clicks on your barrel adjuster.
Was there any issue with brake pull ratios? The pull was designed for cable disk brakes.
Someone else commented about the pull ratio too, huh... They seem to work totally fine. There are both short and long pull cable disc brakes and road calipers are short pull so I'm not really sure but thinking these are short pull levers.

How is the braking performance given the cable pull ratio of the levers with the chosen brake calipers?
It's very good, I think I read somewhere that the sword levers pull a little more cable than standard road levers which I guess in theory would make the brake slightly less powerful but has the advantage of allowing the pads to be further away from the rims.... in practice they just feel like normal road brakes to me, although I don't have too much experience riding road bikes.
How did you make the brifters work with the rim brakes?
They're not hydraulic, should work with any standard road caliper
Clutch is a deal breaker.
It can probably be adjusted.
That shifting sounds horrible
