I think I have three of these in my collection....as I had one of my own....and I ended up with both my brothers. I recall....have to go get them from the attic to check for sure...this was one of the redlines that all three of us had....and whether it was the shape, fastback, whatever, I recall that they were dependable racers! BTW....I find that the music adds to the relax-inducing magic of these restoration videos!

I once had this car too when I was little. My older cousin gave it to me. See my older cousins gave me there toys when they grew out of them. I loved them so much. I just wish I took better care of my toys. I would trade and break them. I love that new color!.👍🏻

Great job! Do you have any tips on how to do touch ups? I have a matchbox-ish car that I loved to death when I was little and the paint has chipped in several places over the years, the only issue is, it's got a really intricate paint job and there's no way I could ever recreate it if I took it all off, do you know of any ways to just touch up small spaces but have it still be smooth?
You could try to touch up and feather in like a real car but it probably won't match too well.

Question, when your wire-wheeling the medal, you get scratches in the medal as well as sanding, I only saw you polishing the car afterwards, if you are using real "Spectra-flame" paints then won't the scratches show thru the paint? Looks like you used an enamel purple paint on this model. So the scratches are a mood point.......Please explain.....

just to let you know i have found a way to safely pull the hotwheel redline wheels off which is
you need to lubricate the bearing that attaches to the wheel so something like soap or spit and then just give it about 30 seconds and gently try to pull it off
also quick question when i restore the redlines i try to keep them the original colour does that not harm the value of the car as badly as repainting it a different colour?
Good tip! These one were pretty bad off so cutting them was good :) I think once they are drilled it probably kills the value anyway.

I typically don’t do restorations but that doesn’t mean I won’t. Pricing is so tricky on these little cars and sometimes parts and paint are more than the cars are worth. Example Wheels = $6 plus shipping, glass (if needed) $8 plus shipping, Spectraflame paint $7 plus shipping and shipping car both ways is roughly $8 total. So you could have $37 in the restoration before any labor is involved
