Thanks for the video. One thing I hear a lot of reviewers saying a-lot is âno one asked for a thinner iPadâ. Everyone did ask for a lighter iPad. If you have 13 inche ipad you cannot subtract material from the length and width. So naturally, it has to come from the depth which results in a thinner iPad. Basically the slimness is a byproduct of trying to lose weight.
Fair point.
Completely agree. Probably the only thing Iâm really not happy about is that Apple forces you to buy way more storage than needed to get nano texture screens. There is no reason the nano texture cannot be on the lower storage units.
If Apple had not taken this route, I would have likely upgraded my M1 12.9 iPad to the newer M4 13â with the same storage level.
Not true. A thinner object needs to be sturdier (= heavier) to maintain its rigidity.
@@shishdimmaking the framework of an iPad both thinner and still just solid is completely possible through engineering internal rounded chamfers. Itâs the same principle in how we lighten up race cars while still maintaining frame strength.
Itâs basicly slightly thickening the corners in exchange for making the piece thinner. The result is you save a little weight and the piece is also thinner as well.
@@shishdim Make your statement make senseâŠ
1. M4 iPad height is 1 mm taller than M2 iPad. 2. M4 iPad width is .6 mm wider than M2 iPad. 3. M4 iPad depth is .7 mm thinner than M2 iPad. M4 iPad weight is 103 g lighter than M2 iPad.
There are several bend test out on youtube already showing the M4 iPad just as rigid as the m2 iPad if not more rigid.
While you said that no one asked for a thinner iPad - many were wanting a lighter iPad especially with the Magic Keyboard.
Fair.
I believe the upgrades are better than you are giving credit for, camera placement, keyboard, pencil, lighter, faster, better screen/brighter, everything together makes this device awesome and by far the iPad to have.
Of course it's better than it's predecessors. Would be weird if it wasn't. Still nothing spectacular, it's the same iPad, just a bit better.
@@PatrickRambles I guess we have different levels of satisfaction related to the iPad, using it daily w/ the multitude of upgrades make for a much better user experience for me. More update than previous upgrades and ones that I wanted.
The most wholesome reviewer out there. Thanks for another awesome review!
Thanks man !
Always fun watching your videos, guys!đ
Been waiting for this
One thing my M4 iPad can now do that the others before it couldnât was playback 5k H264 videos! Runs super smooth on this now
FINALLY MY QUESTION HAS BEEN ANSWERED!!! ive been holding off on buying a ipad because i wasnt sure it can handle 5k footage playback which makes editing so much harder considering i kinda have to guess what the results come out like....đ i cant wait to get mine so i can finally edit and playback all my videos smoothly without stuttering and lag.
Your Mac can also do that though
@emilsecker7891. The original video compares M4 ipad pros to other ipads. Not Macs. My M2 macbook pro could do it so did my samsung s tablet and windows pc. But I edit videos on my iPad hence the comment
@@amehirelanda not sure why you donât just use the Mac to do it. iPadOS is still limited
@emilsecker7881 personal preference. I travel a good bit, and the Ipad is convenient for quick social media edits.
Great video, Patrick. Thanks for the info!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! I was looking forward to it.
Will it replace your iPad mini 6 now that itâs lighter and thinner than the previous PRO? đ
Nope! :)
Just set my 11â up and it is a great little device!! Great video well done
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks for showing us the 11â. Was considering the 13 but like the size of the 11. Thumbs up for the mention of esr. Will check them out. If you donât mind What spec did you get
512 :)
I got my iPad Pro 11 inch Thursday in Australia and definitely got the charging brick as you call it. We call it the power supply.
Agreed, I was hoping for a better look and finish on the external part of the keyboard too. I hate the rubbery look/finish. Also agree on the focus of making it thinner. It was already thin and light, give me more battery life and a lighter Magic Keyboard. Good review, thank you!
You're one of my favorite tech CZcamsrs!â€
â€ïž
The ESR screen protector doesn't have the 2024 version from the link you provided, does make any difference between sizes?
Nice well rounded video, thanks! Have fun in Poland! đ”đ± Iâm from there! đ
Thank you! Will do!
I am considering getting the 11inch model. I would make full use of its power for video editing. My only concern is with PWM. Flickering from OLED screen affects my eyes. In saying that I have the iPhone 14 Pro Max and above 30% brightness I donât really notice it due to DCI dimming. Do think the same applies to this iPad?
Great input
Hello! Can you share where you got your yellow and orange skin from for the older iPad?Love it!
It's from Dbrand :)
Entertaining video and Great review!
Many thanks!
Are you happy having an 11 inch ipad with the macbook pro 14 inch? Would you go for the 13 inch?
The 13" is too close to laptop size for me.
Hey Patrick, good video! Might make me upgrade from M1 because of the screen tech.
I have 3 questions:
(1) why did you buy the smallest format of the 2?
(2) what impacted your color choice ?
(3) if you connect a Magic Keyboard has it a significant impact on the battery life of the iPad?
13" is too large for traveling. Might as well take my MacBook air. I picked space black because I like it and the silver is getting old. I'm sure the keyboard will eat some of the battery life but I can't say it's noticeable.
Thanks for the review - always appreciated. Great video and look forward to the future content with TechBHD (hopefully got that right!).
TechPHD - it does sound like I said BhD doesnât it đ
Thanks for another great review Patrick. For me it had to be an either/or decision and I opted for an M3 Pro MBP 14 a short while ago.
Best choice !
Not really, there's an unpachable security flaw in the m1-m3 chips
Nice review! đđŸ
Glad you liked it!
I am tempted to switch to the 11 inch just because of the better screen that is previously not available on the smaller model. I have a m1 12.9 inch now do you think itâs worth the upgrade ?
Is the smaller size matters to you I think it's worth it.
Does this have the same external dimensions as the iPad 9th gen? Like, the screen viewing area must be obviously bigger, but because the 9th gen had a smaller visibility area due to the in box design, do they measure up to the same external body measurement? Iâm asking before Iâm seeking to upgrade my 9th gen iPad, so I wanna know if the 11 inch will take up the same space as the 10.2 inch one?
Nope. Same size as the previous 11" iPad Pro.
Got mine coming today!! Great review bro! đđ»
I saw another channel do a bend test on the M4 versus the M2 and I feel pretty confident it ainât going to get bent đ
It took A LOT to bend it and even then it was not hugely noticeable. They seem to have really addressed bend-gate.
I will check it out!
@@PatrickRambles it was AppleTrack who did it mate
Cool thing to know previous gen iPad (i have M2 iPad pro) when shutdown / booted in landscape also shows the apple logo in landscape.
Hi
From where is beautiful color back cover of the iPad? The cover with the orange red yellow colors
Hey! It's a skin by Dbrand.
Thanks đ

The US. iPad Pro M4 still comes with a 20w brick and usb-c cable.
The US 13inch does. Not sure about 11 inch.
@@bjross82 it does.
Lucky Americans! It would have been better if the brick was somewhere around 35 watts though since the iPad Pro M4 supports this wattage.
I'm glad the US version comes with a charging brick.
What do you think of its weight and size in comparison to the iPad mini? Iâm in the middle of getting one or the other based on mobility/weight without the Magic Keyboard.
It's an entirely different experience. I find the 11" too big for things like reading. The mini is still the only real tablet for me. The other ones are best paired with a keyboard.
@@PatrickRambles Thanks for the insight, I was really hoping the pro would be a good substitute but it looks like I might be going the mini route.
@@PatrickRamblesYeah but you canât read it in sunlight, so I have a Kindle for that. It will be interesting to see if the new M4 iPad 11â will be readable in sunlight outside due to its 1000nits
For me personally 1000 nits is still too dim outside.
Waiting for my 11 inch iPad Pro m4 and the accessories I got . I got the screen protector and same cases you showed from ESR; I am afraid it will take sometime to arrive to Costa Rica đšđ· though .
It's a pain to get stuff shipped there huh?
Is it worth upgrading from m2 11 inch to m4 11 inch? In terms of the screen
I mean it's noticeably better, so if the display is important to you it might be. For me personally it wouldn't be a reason to upgrade.
Ordered an 11" today after checking it out at the local Apple Store. Charging brick is included here in the US.
Must be an EU regulation on e-waste or something
Yeah, maybe. Similar to no stickers to "save the environment," yet making a perfectly functional Apple Magic Keyboard and Pencil 2 obsolete. đ€·ââ
What is the yellow, red, orange skin on the back of the iPad?
It's made by Dbrand
Would you consider giving a way the black usb c cable? I have been on the hunt for a black version of the Apple white usb c cable and have found nothing. Love your videos!
I'm in Belgium. Shipping would cost more than the cable đ
@@PatrickRambles so true! Thank you for considering it though! :)
Hi Patrick, I just watched this video on my brand new 11 inch M4 iPad Pro and I love this thing. I think Iâm going back to using an iPad instead of a MacBook touchscreens are so much easier for me as a person with a disability and I figure if I need a keyboard, someday I will maybe look into the magic keyboard, but I like the portability and probably need the portability of the iPad and itâs ecosystem
I'm glad it's working for you! It Definitely is a nice device!
Thanks Patrick but what is Aluminum?
Assuming youâre Dutch, I am guessing you prefer aluminium. Since I cater mainly to a US audience, I will pronounce it accordingly.
They do seem to be all about the landscape orientation (which is great) but the apple logo on the back is still in portrait orientation. Interesting.
Good point đ
And the Magic Keyboard has the Apple logo in landscape đ«Ł
I prefer that the logo on the back be in portrait since the back cameras are in the portrait position.
Will get mine later n the summer
đ„
Thank you! Iâve watched dozens of videos now, no one was unboxing and comparing the 11 inch iPad till you did. Disappointed to see trackpad basically the same size on the 11 inch keyboard. That wouldâve weighted heavily on my decision to get it. I might still go for it for the screen. We got shived with an inferior screen with M2 iPad Pro 11 inch.
The screen really is nice.
Cool new iPad! Even cooler Subbie on your wrist! Looking awesome, my dude!
Thanks man!
HI Patrick
I ve got an iPad Pro M1 12,9; an iPad mini 6 and i m wondering to replace my pro by an 11 pro M4
But what about the mini ?
Do you think it ll be necessary if I go from iPad Pro 12,9 to iPad 11?
I know you were a fan of iPad mini 6
What s about you?
Eric (south of France)
Hi Eric, I'm probably very biased towards the mini. I would rather give up my other iPads :)
Great, honest review! †I'm trying to get the 11 inch too. Yeah, I just got back from the Apple store yesterday and saw them in person. Everyone says the OLED display is so noticeable, but I completely forgot about it when I was there and couldn't tell a difference, honestly. Not saying they aren't great displays, but for me, the fact that I just remembered the new Pros have OLED and it didn't stand out enough for me to remember while I was there says something. I would say the size and thinness are way more noticeable. But yeah, for me, I completely forgot about the new OLED displays đ on the Pros. Also, the Apple Pencil Pro wasn't that impressive, and I had a hard time activating the new touch features on the pencil body.
I still have the m1 model cuz the ipads from the previous years are the exact same just like their iphones, if the bezels were smaller maybe i consider upgrading
I assume one canât now charge via the hinge? The screen protector you mention - I assume the screen isnât reflective on the iPad so is thew protector âshinyâ?
Yes you can still charge via the hinge. The screen protector on the video is tempered glass, which is smooth, yes.
@@PatrickRambles Thanks. It's nice to know if I do upgrade to the M iPad 11" I can give my current keyboard to my wife for her iPad Air. Thanks for this tip.
Finally someone using the 11â.
I prefer the smaller size. The large one feels too much like a Macbook but without the advantages of a Macbook đ
Yes, really enjoyed the ESR commercial.
Hope you enjoy your free content too.
On the original Magic Keyboard I skin it. That way I didnât deal with getting dirty. That is my recommendation for the new Magic Keyboard.
How much do you love the 11â??? Itâs the perfect size.
That's what she said
The thing about iPads (especially the Pro Models) is that yes, they are expensive and overkill for most people, but they hold tremendous value if you take care of it...just like most Apple products...
I tried the 11 inch iPad Pro M4. I went back to my mini 6.
Mini is king.
Sir iPad pro m4 Is it sim system or wifi only please tell me
You can choose.
guys you wont believe what happened during the screen protector installation on my ipad. So i failed miserably as i was removing the plastic, really bad. Some how i managed to continued with the installation. And then i noticed that it was uneven lol so i removed it a second time. At this point in time i knew that my screen protector is a goner. Finally i forced it to aligned with the edges haha. Well the thing survived and zero bubbles lol and its my best work yet. But it was not this brand mentioned in the video. It was some cheap brand without the installation kit!
We do have the brick here in Australia.
Itâs probably thinner due to the removal of the lights that illuminated the old display, as it isnât needed with OLED⊠I got mine yesterday and I was stunned to see how thin the iPad Pro 11â model is.
I bought the Apple Pencil Pro too even though I hate writing on the glass screen, but canât make up my mind on whether to get the keyboard case or notâŠ. Itâs a lot of extra money for what it is. đŽó §ó ąó łó Łó Žó ż
Everyone is talking about bending if it bends that mean your pretty hard on your devices. I believe the upgrades are good just waiting to see if WWDC takes advantage of it .
I agree but that's how it goes every time. We get insane hardware only to be disappointed G WWDC. Let's hope it's better this time. I think bending happened in backpacks and stuff when some pressure was on the iPads.
I plan on trading in my M1 12.9â pro for the M4 13â iPad Pro âŠCANâT WAIT!!!
How much they gave u ?
I was sad there were no stickers. The charging brick is a UK thing. I received a charging brick with mine. I ordered all the same hardware you did. I totally agree about the thickness and the battery life. I installed the ESR screen protector. They have a great paper like protector. It is rougher than PaperLike, but a lot cheaper. I really like all the upgrades due to my old iPad Pro was two generations old. This is a huge upgrade for me. I truly notice the speed difference and how well the videos play now. I am glad I went with the new keyboard, pencil, and especially the 11â iPad Pro. Thanks for the video.
Thanks Steve! I'm not in the UK but I think it's a European thing in general.
@@PatrickRambles I knew that, so sorry. Not sure why I typed that out.
what is it with people wanting stickers? I donât get it, you already have a Apple logo on the device⊠do you want stickers for your fridge or bathroom mirror?? People who donât use them throw them out and it ends up in landfill, degrading in hundreds of years or being ingested by wildlife, choking them.
why is my 13 inch iPad Pro able to fit into my 12.9 case? Iâm lost????
The display is larger, the actual iPad isn't.
I got a brick for mine here in the US.
As usual, great review. Makes me regret upgrading to the M2 iPad Pro last year. Oh well.... RJ
Thanks! The M2 is still great , itâs really not that different imo. Maybe after WWDC

Haha yes.
Iâve never had the 11â before. Iâve either had the 13â or the mini and was never really satisfied with either. The 13â is nice when stationary but heavy to carry when on the go or when on the couch and too big when youâre not multitasking. The mini was light and easy to carry but not enough screen real estate.
Maybe the 11â will be the sweet spot. Granted the fomo of the 13â gets me lol.
Mini is king. Give me a mini pro and I'm sold.
Interesting, my new M4 iPad Pro did come with a charging brick.

Cool.
Australian gets the power brick/adapter.
Apple said that will do environmental consciousness, but their products are not environmental friendly, we can not use previous items for every next generation and have to pay more and more for the mostly similar functions.
I know this is a crazy thought, I was really hoping the "Pro" would turn into the MAC pad. I think it would make sense now with the M4.
In terms of hardware I think it could have been done earlier. Apple doesn't want to do this.
its never going to happen, apple says just go buy an MacBook đ€Ł
Just give me an iPad mini 7 with A18 pro, 120hz, landscape camera and thinner bezels. Had my 2018 iPad Pro 11 inch since launch. Never really used it fully as a laptop replacement and with work giving me a MacBook Air and an iPad Pro M2 11 inch, itâs almost redundant.
Agreed.
@@PatrickRambles your iPad mini 6 video from a while back made me realise that for probably 90% of users, the mini is the perfect form for a tablet.
@@moonbaby6134depends⊠I have both the iPad Pro 11â and the Mini 6 and I almost never use the Mini, I still love it though because itâs cute and Iâm still trying to find a compelling reason to use it. The Miniâs screen size is too constrained to be practical and the attached keyboard to the iPad Pro 11â is so much more usable. I did buy a mini keyboard for my Mini but it is impossible to touch type on it.
The air has it all⊠old keyboard support, new camera placement and old and new both pencil support. Clearly they switched the magnets and more so put a software lock. A quarter pound make a surprising difference.

Nice Sub!
Thanks!
Also allegedly a full fat USB4 40Gbps portâŠ
Is the keyboard worth it ?
Itâs very nice but nothing spectacular. But if you get the M4 itâs the only one that fits.
It depends what you're looking for I'd say. My magic keyboard is absolutely fantastic and looks amazing, though if you don't care about looks, and just want value, id go for the Logitech combo touch as it has all the features of the magic keyboard and more, and is ÂŁ40-80 less
@@0utrightI had to return my Logitech Combo because its kickstand made it impossible to sit it on your lap.
@@phildf701 that is a significant factor, and it was the factor which made me buy the magic keyboard. In terms of materials, the Logitech is miles better. The black magic keyboard picks up finger grease like nothing else in this world, and while the white keyboard does hold up better, once it is dirty, it is basically unclean- able from what ive heard. The logitech has this fabric on the back which is a lot better at staying clean. Id say the differences are large and for each usecase it would be different. Id say get the logitech if youre more into art, with the improved range of motion for drawing on, or if you would be typing on it more, then get the magic keyboard.
Edit: i completely forgot to mention how the logitech is a case, with a detachable keyboard, but the magic keyboard is only 1 part, so you either have the keyboard, and the lackluster protection it provides, or you have neither. This is clearly a pro for the logitech, since the case not only provides better protection, but it can also still provide that protection when the keyboard is detached
Is the term âProâ marketing or is it the intended use? For those who would pay upwards over $3,000 for a Pro, some would also have internet service beyond 1Gbps. I would think someone with 5 or even 10Gbps service is asking themselvesâŠand Apple, âWhereâs WiFi7?â
Iâm not going to intentionally try to bend my brand new iPad Pro because âIâm not that rich.â Well said đ
đ
Your argument for why the keyboard isnât backwards compatible is incorrect. As you know the iPad Air does support the old Magic Keyboard and the NEW Apple Pencil Pro, all while having a landscape camera. The reason the new Magic Keyboard is exclusive to the new Pro is because of weight distribution. It was designed to carry the new, lighter iPad Pro, which allowed them to change the angles a bit in order to get the extra space for the bigger trackpad and the function keys without the iPad neither covering them nor tipping over when touched while connected.
That makes sense. Thanks for sharing!
Prefer a full macbook to a tablet, with a full os. I let my phone do the job of ipad.
I just want Siri 2.0 with GPT4o functionality.
I used to have an iPad Pro several years ago but it broke because it bent. Why they made it thinner, I don't know. Who asked for a thinner ipad? I'd rather have a strong frame and durability with longer battery life than to have a thinner ipad.
Got same iPad and only regret was not get the 13â as I did not think it be such a great display to game on, would be great if they made TVs, itâs no competition display wise and whatâs more funny it actually runs remote play better than Ps portable which is impressive itself.
Not used iPad in a few years but was nice to see torrent was a simple thing as well, the pencil is cool but I draw stickmen (that part for my daughter being quite an artist for her age).
Iâm not a pro pro user but no regret beside not go for larger one, but itâs totally fine, just surprised me how well gaming was vs earlier ones (or other displays) which is great as a gamer relax on sofa or in bed.
Price is steep as the big downside, but plan to use it years ahead anyways.
Thanks for video and your views. đ€đŒ
Maybe 50 years from now we'll be getting just a piece of glass
