    I have an 850 FICO. Not sure how this happened, except I always pay my bills on time and enjoy taking out consumer loans and then paying that shit off years ahead of time. Never, ever be late on a bill if you can help it. Seems to work.

      That's the wise use of credit cards. The key is paying them off each month or if its a long term loan such as a car, pay it off early. The few car loans I've had I paid them off at least a year or more early.

    All this information has been told to us several times this last year as we're preparing to buy a house, but you made it click. We finally got our secure card of $300 and the 30% got muddled. "Was it 30% of the limit that needed to be used or 30% left on the card at all times?" Yeah, that's a difference of playing around with $200 or $100. Thanks to you that's sorted out now. Really appreciate you!

    Some credit unions offer a loan called a secured loan. It can be $$ held in an existing acct ie savings & as you pay it, on time, manually or setup auto pmts, $$ will be released and you are showing the CU you are responsible. They will in turn offer you a bank CC with an interest rate much lower than 20%. If you open a CD & secure it in a loan you only pay 2-3% over what the cd interest rate is i.e cd earns 1.75% + 2% = a loan @ 3.75%! Which really works out to be just 2% because your cd is still earning interest. They have your money locked up til you pay your loan off or if you don't they got your $$ anyway. My son did this, pif on time for 6mos then applied for a CC @ 11.9%. Next he'll apply for a car loan, pre-approved so he stays on budget and has something he can use to deal with the dealership with.

    I hope this video helps the many people struggling financially.
    The biggest piece of advice I've learned from having only 2 major credit cards (in my own name) is that if you can't actually afford it, don't go into debt to acquire it. My only exception to this rule is your student loans, and there are plenty of ways to not have to use loans to pay your entire way through. Keep only one credit card and don't run it up, store cards are the worst I've ever seen with interest rates through the roof. For what? To buy clothes and things that you cannot afford? Most people only make the minimum payments on a credit card which is barely covering interest and not principal.
    Be smart with your money and only buy what you can afford while not trying to live outside your means. The borrower will forever be slave to the lender. Think of all the money you put out every month to try to settle a debt that could be in your pocket. Hope this message finds someone well. God bless.

      Latinogoyaman Latinogoyaman Thats GREAT!!! However, don't fall prey to credit debt again so STAY AWAY from those credit card companies! If you do decide to get a credit card then make sure it is a Secured credit card Only. That way your credit score will keep rising instead of damaging it again.

      you want to dispute through certified mail. by doing this it creates a paper trail that assist you in your 30 dispute window. if you file online you have no paper trail as to when your dispute was filed. so let's say you dispute online and they don't respond within the 30 day window you have no proof that they are in violation of the law.

      that's correct you don't have the same rights when u dispute online. when u dispute online you only have a handful of reasons that your disputing. if it's not in the drop down menu you will be out of luck. also when you write your explanation your only allowed a certain amount of characters, which is never enough to explain yourself. I suggest that you never type your dispute but handwrite it and send certified mail. they scan all disputes and will deny your disputes if it's been sent in by someone else before and that puts a red flag on u. many people find dispute templates online and use them, this is OK to do as long as you handwrite it and you switch up some of the wording to personalize it. but definitely handwrite and send certified mail. using these 2 methods I personally saw my score go up 200 points in about 8 months!

    Very helpful video. I've found that some collections agencies will offer you a settlement on that delinquent account , but they will not remove the account from collections. Instead they will mark the account as paid, zero balance and leave all of the negative history on your report. This is something to be aware of when negotiating a settlement. Most collections agencies will remove the delinquent account from the collections portion of your credit report if agreed to as part of the terms, but there are a handful that will only remove it if you pay the full amount due and then there are a few companies that absolutely will not remove it even if paid in full, it will remain as a paid collection on your credit report. Make sure you understand the terms of the settlement before you agree because once you agree you open up a whole new can of worms if you fail to hold up your end of the agreement.

    One thing I was told from my bank as well as someone who gives credit advice is that negative items can remain on your report longer than the typical 7 yrs because creditors can and will report the items based on last contact with you..so if you inquire on an old debt after it was reported 5 yrs ago, the 7 yr clock starts all over again from the most recent contact...sneaky😒

    • @CherryChia23
      @CherryChia23 Před 8 lety +6

      Yes and no. It depends on how you inquire... There are a lot of ways to inquire without admitting it's yours or without resetting the time clock... It's usually if you start paying again that you've restarted it. So no just inquiring is not going to restart the clock. There are many sample letters online to guide you into not restarting the clock.

    • @MsLaRachelle
      @MsLaRachelle Před 8 lety

      Yes!!! You're very correct. A friend adv me of this as well, but it was too late for me as I'd already inquired. He adv me not to inquire until I was able and ready to settle the debt. I at no time claimed the debt within my inquiry, so I'm not certain how that worked out, but I was able to get them to agree to a pay to delete option in writing. It all worked out to my benefit.

    Regarding bankruptcies....
    Chapter 7 falls off in 10yrs
    Chapter 13 falls off in 7yrs
    Both from date of filing
    Also CreditKarma & Credit Sesame are totally free.
    Credit Karma monitors your Transunion and Equifax for free
    Credit Sesame monitors Transunion for free, but you can pay $16 for all 3. I am just getting the free one.
    Both have apps and both do a great job keeping you aware of what's going on with your reports.
    And regarding credit utilization....you were right in not closing your oldest cards, but also try to avoid closing any cards with crazy high limits. I have a 12% utilization percentage, but that is hugely due in part to a 5k Pottery Barn cc, so having that is why I'm at 12% overall. That's why this card will never close even though I am not a huge shopper there, but to keep it open I will go in every few months and buy a couple pillowcases 😂😂😂lol
    Which brings another point. If you do have any "store" cc (which by the way I would stay FAR away from getting #justsaying) use them at least every 6 months so they won't close your cc because them closing you will be a detriment to your score as well.
    And lastly disputing 100% works!!! I disputed 2 items that technically were mine, but because they couldn't verify them...both were removed.

    everything she says is on point! however in regards to collection accounts, if you do call to settle or pay in full you can in fact ask them to delete it from your credit report. They don't have to do this but it doesn't hurt to ask and could be part of your negotiations if you agree to pay in full. Of course if they do agree to this get it in writing! It works, I've done it many times.Anyways, excellent video. very informative!

I also got lots of exercise by working with my hands at a craft instead of sitting in a cubicle. Now I'm 65 and still healthy and physically vigorous. a 4-year degree is over rated. At least it was for me. Maybe it's changed. Anyway, my Boomer career worked out pretty good. Protip: For today's career reality, become a robot repairman.

      I like Masterfix credit solutions because they are gold. It is a quality criteria according to me. Their communication is also quiet good. It is my opinion. I can’t thank them enough, Wow! I see my FICO is a 790 now and one of my Capital One credit lines just increased from $1,000 to $6,000! (I actually called to make sure that wasn’t a computer error and it sure wasn’t!) MCS is the Best and i stronly recommend them !

    wow thanks so much for this. I've had my card for 4 months now and I max out every month. had no idea it was bad. I have automatic payments and pay in full every month but I guess that still affects my score

    • @sherd303
      @sherd303 Před 8 lety +1

      Hi. I am a credit lender and yes that is bad. Creditors look at this as your strapped for cash so you're maxing out your credit card. If you want to use this method to help your credit, you want to pay it off before the closing date because the credit amount is not reported to the credit bureau but your payment history is. I hope this helps!!!!

    The higher your credit score just means you borrow a lot. The best thing is to have a zero credit score, which means you don't borrow money. I'd much rather have a zero credit score meaning I pay cash and have NO DEBT. Think how much interest you pay over a lifetime. Credit cards aren't worth it. What they don't tell you is you can still buy a house or a car with a zero credit score.

    • @porsche944mt
      @porsche944mt Před 8 lety +3

      You are correct, Hajin. But the clue here is to NOT be using credit in the first place. Credit card companies want you to use their cards because not only do they make money from the sale of goods and services, but they make a killing on the interest rate. Many have an interest rate of 18% and higher. The longer it takes to pay off a debt the more you end spending on that one item. Higher credit scores just prove that you burrow a lot and pay it off. But who really wants to have that much debt! I can have a great credit score and be in thousands of dollars in debt....no thank you. Do like we used to do back in the day, SAVE for what you want and pay cash. You will always come out ahead.

    • @porsche944mt
      @porsche944mt Před 8 lety +3

      What she teaches here is good advice if you are using credit cards and have debt, but when you get to my age, you won't feel as obligated to make credit card companies rich, but rather keep the money for my use.

    • @porsche944mt
      @porsche944mt Před 8 lety +7

      +Aight We'llSee when I was using credit cards I did like you and paid the balance off each month. But then I realized that if I had the money to pay it off each month I might as well just use cash. It's to easy to slip up and go crazy with credit cards. The temptation is too great for some. Cash is king!
