I very much appreciate how the creator actually explained how shapes are applied and stylized in art! Most other videos only define what shapes are and that artists use them to draw as if people don’t already know

High Quality! This is something I ask myself a lot and struggle with: How to apply this shapial design and thinking without it ending in too obvious primitve basic shapes. This video makes it really more clear and shows some great visual examples.

I love that comment on Philip Webber : "I don't know why" 😂I feel the same way when it comes to hyper-realism. To me it feels like a guitar solo - while technically brilliant, it's not what's the most interesting aspect of a song to me. I'd take a Mignola ink over one of those paintings any day. It stuns me that similar human-photocopiers are the most revered nowadays.
C right? Especially when he’s using a hi res photo references and essentially copying it 1:1
I actually respect an artist more if they know how to simplify and interpret, and add their own vision. Copying is easy but interpreting an image is hard.
I was struggling With this just now, the thing is , I cant paint in the way I was thinking in my head, end up looking realistic or just flat, and ruinning the art, and the tutorials on painting digitally end up following the same style of painting

I was missing the information... how the "big medium small thing" is like nearly always used in every style n is a good starting point. Well in my opinion. But the explanation n comparison of styles is 👌
Yeah good point. I guess big medium small is a topic on its own, though related. I can imagine it was left out on purpose to focus more on the shape as design element itself. The Leyendecker example shows smaller shapes in the folds and such, but yeah, it is not included, could have been at least hinted. Especially with the game examples.
