Next up from our LA trip is our 1on1 interview with Internet Money record label founder and producer, Taz Taylor. Now known as the mastermind behind the hip hop producer super-collective, Taz Taylor found himself needing to make extra money while his mother battled cancer. After selling his first beat online for $250 and dropping out of the 7th grade, Taz quickly dove into producing full-time. While he began re-investing his money into making a home studio, he simultaneously grew himself a presence on social media. Taz started selling his type beats online, eventually catching the attention of big names like Desiigner, Lil Tecca, A Boogie, XXXTentacion, Trippie Redd, Lil Baby, Rich the Kid + more. Today he runs Internet Money with co-founder and producer, Nick Mira, and oversees his artists TyFontaine, Lil Spirit, Iann Dior, along with many producers such as Cxdy. We met up with Taz Taylor in the iconic Internet Money house / mansion to discuss his beginnings as a graphic designer, feeling misunderstood from hip hop CZcamsrs online, actually liking some CZcamsrs like Yadiiiigg, Patrickcc, and Bobbalam, what he looks for in signing a new artist, his advice for kids who want to work in the music industry at 16 years old, and wanting to work with Drake, Post Malone and Travis Scott. We spent a lot of time talking about his new Internet Money album, B4 The Storm, and how he had to scramble to make 5 new songs the night before the album release. So you know how taz said, “find your way in. If you wanna be a sound engineer, find an intern studio and run and get coffees, set up studio sessions for people”. My dad literally told me months ago to go to this random studio here in Omaha, and literally volunteer to take the trash out or some shit just to be in that atmosphere. It’s just crazy to think how right my dad is about just fucking going for it. In the slightest of ways. One of the most popular label owners at 26 years old just said exactly what my dad told me to do

yeah man, thats literally all you have to do. ppl dont realize and they make everything way harder than it really is. i mean its hard but its also extremely simple... just find a way to put yourself in an environment where you are able to meet people who do what you want to do. so just like your dad said, if you want to be in music then you dont have to be extraordinary producer first. you just simply need to find a way to work for a studio, or maybe you do marketing for producers, or maybe you edit youtube videos for them or yeah get coffees. and then it becomes very easy. ya know how everyone says that "they only hire other ppl they know" well theyre gonna hire the guy doing janitorial work before a random stranger. ya know what i mean. your dad is smart, and most ppl find excuses. but like your dad you just gotta be someone who finds solutions. thats how you do what you wanna do. im 28 and i started a welding business at 25 and i started working in shops when i was 22. i did 300k my first year. all i had to do was find a way to work in a shop. things will progress from there if you want it. and it did. best of luck!!!
