I havent watched the whole show, but compared to the game the anime is a lot faster paced, which ruins some moments such as phoenix and mia both pointing together at the same time
So, Phoenix get coffeed by Godot in the anime, then wipes it all off in the next scene. It was the same way in the game, but at least Godot always got his chance to talk through a very long dialogue, which would've given Phoenix time to wipe the coffee from his head. It wasn't like Phoenix was coffeed, then five seconds later he was all clean. It was more like he was cleaned off about five minutes or so, depending on how long Godot speech took. Maybe if we had anime Phoenix using a towel to wipe the coffee off. It would still be a suspension of disbelief, but it would at least not look cheap and lazy. Like if I was creating a Phoenix Wright anime, I'd show Phoenix grabbing a towel from under the defense's bench to wipe the coffee off or, if I wanted to get more creative, I would have Phoenix first squeeze the coffee from his hair, then pour a bottle of water over his head, then use a towel to dry it off.
Yeah you're completely right, the anime was super lazy on this scene. We should've seen Phoenix wipe the coffee off his face, walk out of the courtroom, bike his way home, treat the coffee stains on his clothes, put them in the washing machine, take a shower to wash the coffee off his hair, reflect on the fact that his whole life has built up to a man throwing coffee on him, dry off, put on some clean clothes, and bike back to the courthouse just in time for Godot to finish talking. It's not like this is just an insignificant comic relief gag scene, no this was a serious and integral moment in the story and we were cheated out of the realism we deserved. Totally agree.

This is an anime based off of a game with better animation and techniques they can use to be more creative with the storyline aside from what the game can do. When you put the coffee scenes side by side, the game is always going to be better, because the anime doesn't try to take advantage with what they can do with that very animated scene. In fact, my first example was not realistic. You can't wipe coffee off with a towel and have it be automatically dried and my issue was that it was "cheap and lazy" not unrealistic. Though, if you think it's realistic for Phoenix to pull a towel out of his ass and automatically wipe his hair dry from the coffee without it being stained, by all means you should try wiping your hair with a towel the next time it gets dunked by coffee. I'm sure a quick wipe will make it dry and not smell or stained with coffee. If you still need an example of what I mean. As someone who recently watched a ton of fanmade random cases of Ace attourney (like how pizza with pineapple is, or Godot problem with too hot coffee), to finally see how Godot coffee throw really is honestly is epic.
Actually, the most surprising thing about this sequence is that Godoh's coffee actually had enough time to get cold. (I mean, I know it could've been cold brew, but still...)
