  • Here is my small talk about Korg Arp 2600 reissue. The title is of course joke. I love analog synths!!!
As I mention a lot in the movie Korg Arp 2600 reissue was sold out in one day. So, upcoming Namm 2020 will be very interesting and strange for Korg. Korg will show Arp 2600 as upcoming new synth which is already sold out, so it is not upcoming, wtf? I hope Korg bring us more full size Arp 2600. I'm not interesting in small size since big boys like big toys, and I already have Tonestar 2600 which is quite good arp 2600 ersatz.
And I hope Roland and Yamaha are watching this carefully since they are still giving us 10 years old VA technology and trying to convince us that this is "modern". Dear Roland and Yamaha. VA are 10 or more years old since first Virus and Diva and are not modern anymore. And market, as Korg Arp 2600 sold out shows has a big demand of analog legendary synths like Jupiter 8 and CS80. Don't be shame, you want our money, right? Do you want to be rich? So, good damn, bring us your best legendary synth!!! It is easier than you think. You have pictures how they should look and how they should sound (prompt - genuine analog). Other way someday Behringer which is copied you will buy you, because they'll be rich because of copy of your best synths and drum machines which you don't want to make (and you crazy persist not to make or remake them).
    Anyway :) www.pawelblaszczak.com

@@TheMrFinalizer I second what Ricker said. Are you not participating in the creation of Dying Light 2 music? I'm afraid without you it will lose that oldschool retro zest and will become just another generic cinematic ost...

I fully understand where you're coming from, and up until last year, the last digital synthesizer i bought was a JD-800. Having had most of the Roland classics over the years, - i started collecting in '85, - i was initially not interested in the boutiques, but after deciding to buy the SH-01A last summer, instead of getting my 101 serviced and repaired, i was blown away by the quality of the product.
Personally, now i'm retired, i'm kind of grateful Roland have developed their ACB tech, the units my be small, but sonically i feel they're spot on, and it seems like an affordable way of preserving their legacy, sonically that is, for years to come. I wish they were larger, and it's a shame the 08 doesn't have physical individual outs, - but as coffee table collectibles that also serve their function in the studio, - i'm quite impressed, 100× better than the disposable volca units IMO.
It would be nice to see some new stuff by Roland though, - like all analog units that have the legacy look and feel, but offer more functions, say a semi-modular 10u Jupiter-8 module with the filters of the 4 and 6 onboard, extra modulation sources, ring mod etc.... I still have my super-jupiter+mpg and jupiter-6, and the *Analogue Metropolis IR3109 Module* but i would definitely buy a 3 vco monophonic semi-modular jupiter, plus being mono should make it more affordable, - in an honest world at least...
They could do something similar with the 808.
Ultimately, £3'500 for a 3 vco, switchable filter with spring reverb unit synthesizer, designed in the 70s, seems a little steep to me, especially with whats available today, in the all-analogue market ~ feels like style over substance to me, but gear lust is a thing and it does look tasty, - always did...
Besides, with 4× doepfer G6 frames and boxes full of un-housed eurocrack, i can't really justify such a purchase. If i was 30-40 again, and had money to burn i'd jump at the chance to own one, - but i'm not, and i don't...
~ But a semi-modular Jupiter-100m for £1,500, - oh yeah, that's what i want, i'd buy that... something new, but legacy based, - both sonically and aesthetically...
    - love from london
    - be well, E

When you were young, you were very handsome, but now that you're so old, it's a bit difficult to recognize you anymore
