Holy hell! The sound of that V-12 when it fires up is no joke. That engine is ready to raise hell.
Group C cars are some of best looking cars to race Le Mans.
Tom Walkinshaw was brilliant as a driver, as an engineer and as a team manager.
I wonder what would happened if you punched it? 🤔
One of the greatest racing cars of all time
"Episode 01"
Great video. Cannot stop looking at that XJ220 in the background though.
I like this series allready!
What an iconic car, what a good beginning to a new series! If the other episodes are anything like this, I will start watching this channel more again!
Look at that beautiful V12!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was at the 1000km of Brands Hatch in 1988,and I recall two of these driving past me together at Clearways. Martin Brundle,Andy Wallace and John Nielsen were the drivers of the No 1 and winning car,and Jan Lammers and Johnny Dumfries were the drivers of the No 2 XJR-9. They were so loud,I thought my ears were going to bleed !
A great insight - I remember growing up and seeing this car in toy form... Mike grinning ear to ear - a childhood dream come true!
Yup...I had a bunch of 16th scale model car that I literally played with all day, every day when I was a kid...an F40, an older classic Ferrari, a Porsche GT1, etc. My parents also got me an epic Tamiya RC car for my 8th birthday...the body it came with was the Mercedes C11 (which I just found out they RE-RELEASED!!!) and, after it got beat to death, I got another body for it that I THINK was this. This generation and class of car will ALWAYS be some of the most gorgeous cars ever made as far as I'm concerned.
That beast of a v12
My favorite race car ever built.....ever! I watched the Castrol GTP Big Cats at the Camel GT when I was a kid. That’s when my love started. Now I have a shrine for them in my sim racing simulator room. They represent everything cool about motorsports, endurance racing and Group C.
The XJR-9 is easily one of my all-time favourite Le Mans winning cars alongside Mazda's 787B, Peugeot's mighty 905 and the thundering Sauber Mercedes C9
My favourite toy car growing up is the one behind you at the start - the XJ220.
This was a historic moment, as a normally aspirated car took victory at Le Mans amongst turbocharged opposition.
An Eyewitness book - The Ultimate Race Car - brought me here.
Excellent...! From our experience, we love the XJ220! Now feature that next.
