I'm no expert, but I am 52 years old and spent the mid 90's in the Seattle area as a heroin addicted musician. I was very much into Kurt's music and have friends that were very close to the Nirvana scene. There are so many things that don't seem right about the scene, the letter, and the circumstances. Tom Grant definitely knows more, he even said he has more recordings in his safe of conversations with Courtney and others that he hasn't released yet. Tom started off as a cop with a clean record and a reputation of being a good honest guy. Then he became a detective then he opened his own business as a private investigator. He's been in that profession for 40 years and not one piece of dirt has EVER been dug up about Tom. Believe me people have look and tried to find something so that they could discredit him and the evidence he found. But they found NOTHING on Tom. That's not common to find no bad record when you deal with the public as your occupation. The only thing they found on Tom to use to discredit the fact that because of his evidence that Courtney had Kurt killed, was that he didn't see the greenhouse and find the body. That one thing and that was after Kurt was already dead. That pathetic to say because Tom had no idea the greenhouse was there and didn't see it on a dark stormy night that all of his evidence becomes useless. Tom not seeing the greenhouse has nothing to do with at least 100 pieces of evidence that says Courtney, the spouse, who would benefit the most from Kurt's death did it. We're talking $50K Courtney would get through a divorce as opposed to $400 million, the publishing rights to Nirvanas everything and all of Kurt's houses and possessions. Yeah, being the money and fame hungry psycho she is, that's a hands down 1000% she had Kurt killed.

I'm one of those fans that cried foul. Tom Grant is an ex cop that became a private investigator. I believe that Courtney was trying to create an alibi through hiring him, but made a mistake by getting someone that didn't buy her double talk. The Kurt and Courtney documentary has several important interviews at that time - more than just Eldon Hoke. (The scared nanny describing the arguments at the house about money and divorce, the squirrely best friend that doesn't seem quite forthright, Courtney's ex that wanted to left the music industy because of controlling Courtney - perhaps the same as Kurt) Soaked in Bleach has a lot of Tom Grant's recordings of Courtney's weird, feeble ...explanations.
Important notes on Kurt after death - repotedly, Kurt's arms weren't long enough to reach the trigger and both his shoes were on. (Couldn't have used his toe) Kurt's heroine kit was put away as well as wiped down. Like the pen in the note, it seems out of place. Also the shotgun shell was ejected on the wrong side.
Dr. Cyril Wecht looked over the case when King County reopened the case a few years ago to say they did an acceptable job. He lists several mistakes in the original coroner's report and suggested that the police investigation had several abnormalities that he charitably described as unusual.
There is even suspicion on the OD in France. It has been suggested that Courtney was the one that dosed Kurt ala John Belushi/Cathy Smith. Her mistake was that she assummed he was gone and called for help too soon and he survived. When asked about it later, Kurt referred to the incident as a mistake.

That is one thing that always confused me. I'd never seen pics of the weapon, but seeing it and knowing how that particular type works *he wouldn't have been able to do as they describe with the shell ending up where it did as a side ejector.... especially not a Left Handed Dominate person*
When was he active or reserve military service? because that missing person report has the Yes box checked.
Even taking into account cadaveric spasms it doesn't work. Maybe a forensics lab will one day make up a mock scene and run through the scenarios.

@@AngB517 Do a search for "kurt cobain, sh0tgun pics" without the zero in place of the "o". The picture that I see repeatedly appears to be a right handed one. Also, as far as I know, he was never in the reserves. From what I've read, Kurt didn't even dress out for gym class in school, choosing to be in trouble with the other outsiders (non-jocks) instead.
So many problems with the investigation were brought up that they decided to review the case and clear themselves of mistakes (You don't believe me, just ask me, I'll tell you) In the process of patting themselves on the back to show what a good job they did, they didn't really clear up the issues, they just created more. Her own father said that if she didn't have him k!lled, at the very least, she drove him to it. The interview with Kurt's 'friend' in the Kurt and Courtney documentary looks to me like he is being very evasive. He seems to not be answering truthfully or maybe he's scared and trying not to say something that might result in him apparently deciding to take a nap on some railroad tracks. The nanny certainly was very scared.
Too many facts fail to be consistent with accepted narrative.

    A few corrections here:
    - Michael Dewitt did not collect Kurt from the airport. This is important, because while Kurt was supposedly missing, Dewitt had seen Kurt in the house on the morning of April 2nd, and phone records show he had been in frequent contact with Courtney throughout that day. However, Courtney did not tell Grant this, which is a huge red flag.
    - 29:24 The ability to see Kurt's body from the main house is impossible. Levandowski is describing the view from the decking that accessed the greenhouse/2nd floor. This decking was at the back of the greenhouse, out of view from the main house.
    - 30:58 This is incorrect. Tom Grant arrived in Seattle late on April 6th. He met with Dylan Carlson and went to search for Kurt early morning circa 2:15am on April 7th.
38:17 Tom Grant was directed by Courtney Love to strictly not monitor the house. She went ballistic when she discovered one of the local PI's Grant had subcontracted decided to set up a stakeout at the house. Tom and Dylan spent the day of April 7th investigating Kurt's dealer Caitlin Moore, searching local motels, and then made a trip out to Carnation where the Cobain's had a summer cabin. Courtney then instructed them to return to the house that night to search for the gun in a hidden compartment in their wardrobe. She was trying to get Grant to discover the body.

Dewitt was trying to avoid Love like the plague as Love was trying to cut him off from heroin to stop him enabling Cobain. Love wanted to fire him but Cobain wouldn't have it as Dewitt would often buy drugs for him. Dewitt kept ignoring Love and only told Cobain to get in contact with her as she wanted her to stop harassing him about it. Love referred to Dewitt dismissively as "the help" and told him he was not to leave his bedroom when he was in the house.
Lanegan was with Grant and Carlson when they checked the house.
Grant was not told to not monitor the house, Grant lied and made this up when this whole thing revealed that he was bumbling boob without the first idea what he was doing - he was a used car salesman playing fake "detective". He got another detective involved and the other detective wanted to watch the house but Grant, being an idiot, wanted to go on wild goose chases and the other detective quit in disgust. When Grant finally got his arse in gear and looked at Cobain's house, he was too late and couldn't locate a dead man inside of it. He phoned police in tears thinking he'd been seen as a complete idiot in front of the world then greed kicked in and he started scamming. The police were also called to the house (twice) by Courtney and spoke to the workmen outside, they would have probably intercepted him had they gone inside but they'd already been out on a domestic once before so thought talking to the workmen was enough - they said they hadn't seen Cobain. Courtney actually called the police to the house herself.

The electrician was sent by Courtney because the body had not been found yet. The mess that would have resulted from a body decomposing within the building would have been a big problem. I think he needed to be found asap as far as Courtney was concerned. The instant that he was declare dead, she became a very rich widow. Her Band's name was a perfect nickname for her as well. There is a guy who claims to have discovered that several people were there at the time of his death. He WAS dead before the blast took out a portion of his skull and brains. The amount of Heroin in his blood is proof of his death being a fact and that he could not operate that shotgun because he would have immediately blacked out before the needle would have left his arm. One close friend was involved and had been interviewed by the police. One person has died since that day but this guy says that the cops won't do anything to resolve this case. Maybe enough cash was spent to buy some sort of lack of resolve on their part.
Courtney was the mastermind of the murder of Kurt Cobain. She hired several useful idiots to provide her with an alibi but thoroughly screwed that up by pushing those people to be in certain places at key times. The coincidental appearances of those people at those crucial points in time is, in my opinion, knowledge of the coming death, and also an admission of guilt. Courtney left a backpack/suitcase with an attorney friend for an extended period of time. The attorney looked in the bag to be sure there was nothing illegal in the bag. What she found was several pages of Courtney having tried to copy Kurt's handwriting style. Many of the words which had been in the last paragraph of that so called suicide note were being practiced. That note was Kurt apologizing to his fans for his upcoming announcement of his retirement from Nirvana. Courtney wrote that last paragraph of the letter which supposedly showed that Kurt was suicidal. The receipt for the shotgun purchase was in Kurt's friend's name. That friend was also one of those present at the time of his death. 2+2= murder through actions planned and carried out by more than one person. Conspiracy.

If you're a seasoned addict, one day wouldn't be enough to cause you to OD. Not if you're a long-term. There's plenty of incorrect information here. It wasn't a "powerful shotgun." It was an itty-bitty twenty-gauge. A twenty-gauge is something you'd give a child to shoot squirrels with. It can kill at point-blank range, but it's not good at medium or long range. Hearing her drone on like it was some kind of cannon was annoying.
There is no saying how high Kurt Cobain's tolerance to opiates were. A few days of no opiates is not going to lower one's tolerance too much. A fatal dose to someone with a lowered tolerance may not effect someone with a higher tolerance. It also depends on the opioid and its systemic elimination half-life. That the coroner would sign a death certificate in a very clear cause of death is not at all unusual. In light of no clear cause of death, the death certificate might be differed until the toxicology report gets back, but with a gunshot to the head, there's no need to wait.
The very first thing the police do when they come to a scene with a body is remove the wallet to ID the victim - this is done even is the name of the decedent is known. Cortney Love admitted to filing the missing person report in Kurt Cobain's mother's name. She was just released from jail after a rather eventful arrest, and said she wanted the police to take the report seriously, according to her.
El Duce was not the most reliable of sources. But that he was so open about it, and had no problem saying he was made the offer to kill him on camera, and did so several times, makes me think there might be something to it. Then he himself was hit by a train, and I cannot find two accounts of that with any degree of consistency. He was with the Mentors, a band he founded, and they released like eleven albums. He was on Jerry Springer, and plenty of other talkshows, and was not looking for "fifteen minutes of fame." And you pronounced his name wrong. Just call him El Duce like everybody else to avoid that.
No, the case shouldn't be opened again. There's no new, compelling reason to do so. His case was done pretty thoroughly compared to many. If he wasn't famous, no one would've thought twice about it.

To remove Tom Grant entirely as a suspect from this complicated situation is completely erroneous. The idea that Kurt was murdered by a random hitman hired by Courtney, with no outside actors is beyond belief. The likelihood of them not being caught is extremely low. Most likely there would have been people within the Seattle police department involved. In addition everyone else is a suspect including his management, the record label, etc. If we are going to ask cui bono David Geffen would then also be a suspect as his label was making the most money off of Nirvana. Courtney would then function as the fall woman, Tom grant as controlled opposition, and people rarely think of the set of implications this inherently creates. The handwriting story of the lawyer strikes me as another red herring, one that instills the "courtney alone" theory. If Cobain was murdered there was a far larger conspiracy and people just fall into this simplified model. Even the phone conversations, and eveything publicly released should fall under deep scrutiny.

Kurt was actually a drummer. He played drums quite well actually. He also played some guitar. I read a bio written about him while he was still alive and it was really good. I had a lot in common with him actually. I think he was not arrogant or anything like that. He was a working class guy. And, he was an odd duck, different from his family and felt like he was a odd- one-out, I think. I am glad he became successful, but, I feel that he was with an opportunist. I have always suspected that she's a psychopath. I knew a guy who's girlfriend knew both Kurt and Courtney, and he said that his girlfriend had rich parents and would have big parties in Seattle, and that Courtney was actually kicked out of the house for stealing. He said that Kurt was cool, but Courtney was something else.

Yes, jealous, Kristen was more physically attractive, more musically gifted, and more socially valued by her peers than Courney Love. Courney seethed with jealousy. Kurt gave Kristen a copy of the book Perfume which meant a lot to him and she was rumored to be the mystery companion with him at the cottage he holed up in on the final weekend. @@Crash184 I don't know her personally. I've met her tho and she comes across like a bull in a china shop. After she walked down the street I expected the sidewalk to have cracks. She's physically large for a girl and also invades personal space. She'll get all up close with her elbows far from her waist and be bent forward while talking. Danny Goldberg management was on the same 5th Avenue block as my little bootleg record label and I met Goldberg, Krist Novaselic, and Courtney all on separate occasions in 1997.
Secondly, someone's musical talent doesn't necessarily dictate whether they become commercially successful or not. Courtney was not a good songwriter. Other people wrote for her. THAT'S what Courtney was good at - getting other people to do her bidding. Just watch Kat Bjelland speak on Coutney's ability with that. You want a professional opinion of Coutney's musical abilities, again, just watch what Kat Bjelland has to say on those traits (or lack thereof). Kristen was originally from Minneapolis, which was the hotbed for alternative rock at the time if you weren't in L.A. or New York. She was a respected member of her own three piece band, Janitor Joe. And had more talent in her little finger than Courtney Love has in her entire body. Your reply to my post was maybe you equating commercial success with musical writing talent. As is often the case in life - success isn't so much about what you know as it is about WHO you know. The music business was very much a clandestine club back then. Thing was - Kurt and Kristen bonded over it in private. I've read Kurt respected Kristen's writing abilities and held Kristen in high regard. Guys just like girls like Kristen more than they like boisterous loud mouths like Courtney. Courtney got out of bed each morning to chase after fame, not to hone her songwriting skills. Wanna know more about that? Again, ask Kat Bjelland, another talented songwriter who's from Minneapolis. Know who liked Kat? Layne! And when Layne dumped Kat, Kat strapped herself to the front of his tourbus. lol. She didn't take rejection well. hahaha. Anyway, there's a more detailed answer for you about all of it. Thank you and stuff.

The extremely unusual level of protection given to the victim's wife by authorities over 30 years can only be explained by their being linked somehow to the crime itself, and given the lack of proper media reporting or correcting of initial reports, coupled with the ongoing government failure to investigate or simply correct the cause of death after it had been dis-proven by toxicology results, one could conclude that Cobain's death was a CIA hit. Everyone associated with the Grateful Dead referred to the guy as a pathological liar who would say anything for a quick buck.
Kurt took ideas from Courtney for In Utero, not the other way around but this never gets mentioned. Kurt had severe writers block in 1993 (he needed Grohl's help to make In Utero as he was out of ideas)and took the title of the album from a poem Courtney wrote (she was going to use it for Live Through This but changed her mind). Kurt was a shit lyricist who spent most of his late teens/early twenties writing gibberish about beans, farts and pee-pee. His lyrics were detached fragments of random gibberish he'd written in his journals at different dates. Whenever he tried to use a topic, he generally got it completely wrong as what happened when Polly was taken to be a pro-rape song because he failed at telling the story. Courtney had been writing about rape, feminism, body issues and societal injustice since her teens and actually taught Kurt how to properly structure poems - you can see him attempt to use some of her turns of phrase in In Utero.
Courtney had an entire band of her own separate from Kurt, worked on a lot of her songs for LTT before they started dating and each band member contributed democratically to the ones they wrote together that had no input from Kurt.
Your "argument" basically comes down to.
      Kurt - is a man - genius
      Courtney - is a woman - imposter.

He was also the one person who agreed with Kurt that he didn't have to be treated like a cripple person. However, witnesses have said DeWitt was almost in worse state than Kurt with drug use and he would pass out for whole days. If someone did hire a killer (which I do not believe anymore) it would've been easy to get in and out. Tom Grant also never pointed out Mark Lanegan was helping him to look for Kurt as well, and Dylan Carlson has always mentioned that Grant was so dumb and slow it's no wonder they didn't find Kurt.

Kurt was not discharged from the rehab facility. It was a facility where you could leave any time you wanted, just walk out the front door. But Kurt didn't do walk out the front door. He was smoking cigarettes with someone he had known and this guy was laughing and telling Kurt about the time another mutual friend in a band had climbed the five foot wall to leave. What they were laughing about was that guy didn't have to climb the wall, he could have just walked out the front door. So to be funny and follow that guys footsteps, Kurt jumped the wall too. He was probably sitting out there smoking a cig and staring at that wall and laughing and thought it would be funny to "escape" over the wall. And that's what he did. Courtney's hotel was just a mile away but Kurt had no interest in seeing Courtney whatsoever so went to the airport and flew back to Seattle.

It’s a suicide note. First off, it’s addressed “To Boddah,” his imaginary friend from childhood. He’s telling his “best friend,” he’s gotten everything he ever dreamed of in life, and none of it takes the pain away. Second, the bottom of the letter, is the more direct, emotional part of the letter. That’s where the writer wants the eyes to go first. Probably to whom they believed would be the one to find him.

      @miwi2777 Před 4 měsíci +3

Sorry to hear that but very glad you’re clean! Do you know what the SPD wants us to believe about his death? That Kurt shot up with 2-3 needles, then put the needles away, put the tiny caps on those needles, moved the kit away from his body (we can easily see this in the death scene photos) rolled both of his sleeves down and buttoned them. Do you really think he would’ve had the dexterity to do all of that and then take a near 5 foot shotgun and shoot himself in the mouth? It’s not one thing with this case. It’s many. The ejection port on the gun was pointing to the right of his body. The shell casing was on the left. That’s not a question of heroin tolerance or whether someone might be feeling suicidal because they don’t want to quit heroin. That is literally IMPOSSIBLE. That’s what we’re saying here. The case needs to be reinvestigated because there are way too many facts that don’t add up.
