- The employee, Chaka James, was clearly angry as she cut my daughters hair a 2nd time, and like an idiot, I just sat there and said nothing, I considered it then immediately feared that would make things worse, It's a gamble to go to Great Clips but I needed something early with no appointment. I've gotten a lot of bad haircuts in my life, this includes all throughout my childhood, but I never would never make a stylist feel bad about it. I would have never considered it.

You guys are all assuming that every hairstylist that works for Great Clips can't cut hair. I am a Great Clips Hairstylist. Come to New Albany, Ohio Great Clips and I will show u that their are good experiences at Great Clips. You can't judge us all the same way. That's like saying everyone that wears a ski mask robs banks. And to the Mom that made this video I am extremely sorry for your daughters horrible experience. I have had bad haircuts before and as a child that can be a devastating experience. If u guys are ever in Ohio near my shop bring her in and it's an automatic free haircut. God Bless u all

Exactly. I've worked at many salons. Right now I'm at great clips. Everyones in my salon cuts great hair. All of us have been stylists for yrs. 10 yrs for me personal. It's not the company. You can easily get a shitty hair cut at another salon.
I think that is actually a beautiful haircut. Obviously, she was embarrassed by it, but really it's not Great Clips' fault. The hairstyle looked great on her, and if she didn't like it, she didn't like it. You can't just blame Great Clips. The haircut obviously just wasn't for her.
Well if she didn't ask for her hair cut like that then that's a problem.

I have been with great clips for the last 12 years. And have been doing hair for 30. So you cannot just assume every person who works there is bad. You can get a bad cut ANYWHERE. I have learned there r just some people in this world that u just cannot please or make happy. No matter what u try to do. I will give u whatever u ask for but don’t tell me it’s my fault when u don’t like it. U got what u told me and That’s why we do a consultation. And ask specific questions. If u want bangs, if so, how long? To ur eyebrow when dry? Side bang? To chin level? Ur length in the back, u get a mirror and show me where u want it, around ur ears? Cover the ear? Cut the ears out? Layers? No layers? Clippers? No clippers ? How do u style ur hair? What don’t u like about it? What do u like about it? We have multiple questions we need answers to, if someone gives me a hard time during a consult it cannot be my fault if u do not get what u want. If u don’t know how to explain what u want, Bring A Picture and talk it through. There’s reasons why we do the things we do and ask the questions we ask. We r not doing it just for our health. I read where someone said u can’t judge all of us because one person did a bad cut. That’s like saying every person who wears a ski mask is a bank robber, some people should not jump so quick to judge. I am proud of how far I have come in 30 years. I specialize in cutting. I don’t want to be a color specialist Or nail tech or teach or whatever else I can do with my license which is a cosmetology teacher license. I want to be a specialized cutter. Some need to try to not put us all in the same boat. Im not saying I don’t make mistakes because I do. I am not perfect. Just like everyone else. No one is perfect. But I will try my best to give u what u ask for. If u get stressed out about getting a haircut ask us if one of us specializes in the cut u want. We do this slot at my store. I’m not good with flat tops. But another girl is. I’m good with inverted bobs, another girl is great with fades. Don’t be afraid to Ask us anything so we can give u the best service we can.

Nah . Coming from a barber myself , you guys are known for not being able to fade or do a simple taper properly and that’s facts 🙂↕️. Us Latinos do a better job with our customers and we ALWAYS get clients from super cuts or great clips that want us to fix what you have done to them . Mejor no hables 🇵🇷🇩🇴🇲🇽

If you go to Great Clips or Super Cuts as a female, you get what you pay for. Also, a picture is worth a thousand words, bring in a picture to make sure that they can do it. But if you're paying $25 for a haircut, there you go...

I don't trust great clips... I'm a 15 year old male and when I was in 6 grade I got my hair cut... Now the lady that cut my hair didn't even seem aware at all what she was doing.. So my mom instructs the lady to get 1-2 inches cut off... She says this as the lady is talking to some one else and before I knew it, I heard the clippers, and zoom! All my hair was gone... Her response was "oh well I thought you said 5 inches off".. 4 customers in there heard her say 1-2 inches... And they all agreed she wasn't paying attention

A friend of mine had a very bad experience with GC! Seems like something is missing there! maybe more training?

Lady you said it looked better than the last time so why are you giving the stylist a hard time? Also if you don't like the service why do you continue to return? None of this video makes any sense and why would you even record this? I thought the haircut looked great and for a 10-13 dollar haircut the stylist certainly does not have to go above and beyond to talk etc. You get what you pay for

Depends on the state it’s in, but I have my great clips a 1 star review and won’t return after too many negative experiences. I’ve been going to the same hairstylist for three years at a different salon (not great clips or supercuts) and she’s always done a great job
I’ve been there great clips I asked for a really nice haircut and I told him not to touch the top at all and they went against it and did it and I looked horrible. The bangs were messed up and everything.
Don't attack the stylist, its people that go out of their way to make a scene, and in this case, record their ignorance, that put more stress on a stylist who is already in a stressful environment. And allowing your child to bahave just as badly as you, that's shameful. I bet you walked out without paying too
pixie cuts are very popular and so are mullets? If you wanted your daughter to have a specialized hair cut did you ask your daughter did she show a picture to the stylist of what she wanted?
Go some where and pay 40 for a cut.. it's 15$ what do you expect? Stop complaining

Great Clips uses a timer on all of its haircuts. The owners are normally scumbags that underpay their employees. They have to go as fast as they can to keep their jobs. I recommend boycotting great clips and seeing a local stylist owned barber or salon

I have gone to great clips three times, and each time I walk out the store, I have to put my hat on because they screw it up each time. It isn't just one barber, each of the three times it was a different barber. So dont give me that excuse that I got a bad barber. In the future, i will pay the extra $5 to get a better hair cut at my old barber. There is nothing great about Great Clips!

I was n will be again a Great Clips Stylist n I always consult first n I engage my customers with the haircut n I ask the parents are they satisfied bc if you tell me a 2 on the side n back n 4 on top n not satisfied then that's another cut so I start off with a higher guard n let them tell me shorter n the top I consult so I consult thru the entire cut n after I finish n detail I'm still consulting to make sure the client is satisfied although they may not like it they were apart of the cut therefore they go thru it but I've never had a haircut clients didn't like..n when they return I know how they like it but I still consult..Kenneth Schuler teaches about consultation n client relations so I start off making the client comfortable with me..Great Clips is a great company n the staff goes thru training personal contact with how your being treated depends on the Stylist me personally my name is on your head so I need for my name to be positive as well as my customer service
@lynnybradford Lol I've been there, I had my hair fixed and it was crazy short. I didn't cry really because It was my fault for having to get it cut but it does hurt one's confidence when you don't have long locks that you're used to. If she didn't like it, to her it was not the "best haircut." If she asked for it short though, idk what to say to that except it'll grow back lol. :)

I thought it was cute for a great clips cut. I don't know what people expect from hairdressers, really. I mean, for starters this company expects stylists to complete a haircut (whether it's CLEAN or not -gross!) in 17 minutes. And the skill set is hit or miss. They are a sweatshop and they don't bother to train anyone. They throw new licensees out there and expect them to give great cuts. It's ridiculous. Looks like Chaka was set up, as the client was "ready with camera" for the "devastation."

ps i had paid for the mullet she got earlier, I didn't walk with a stolen "child's haircut", just to clarify I had found her in my car spilling big tears under a perfectly designed "Billy Ray Cyrus" after paying for the cut One of the reasons she's so angry at this point was because I hadn't been a doormat to tip her
although I appreciate the candor of kingstinger I want it noted that I got my own haircuts there Even got one last one at that same store the next time I needed one. Of course, Chaka was no longer there, I didn't ask why, they always turn over very quickly 3 weeks in to that cut I knew it was a scam I guess girls just cant get economical cuts no matter how simple their style and thats too bad, but I wont make my kid go there anymore It's a waste of money

CZcams is the ultimate customer complaint site, ain't it? I mean wouldn't you be embarrassed to find videos of your employees treatment of your valued customers on here? Still some of us might wonder what the fuss is about in this video. I can tell you that video does not replicate the emotions, or atmosphere one experiences deep inside. We can only imagine that this girl must have felt the hostility coming from the stylists as she cut her hair again. Not a good situation for any one.
The customer deserves a good haircut. If the stylist does not want to go above and beyond, maybe they are not a good fit for the company.

Cons
Even with vacation hours, vacations are not allows allowed. Low pay, tops at $10/hr even after 4 years, policies and procedures are not upheld by franchisees unless they need them to be. No bonus', Rules and expectations constantly changing.
. Managers make about $30 extra a week . Not worth it.
They tried to give me hair that was a short pixie when my hair was to my butt so I'm not a big fan of them either
Always ask to get your cut from a manager or assistant manager. The more experience, the better. Everyone else is there just to make a buck.
Just because someone’s a manager doesn’t mean anything tbh, and sometimes when a stylist has experience doesn’t mean they’re good. The first salon I worked at, I had become the assistant manager in my first year. The manager I had before leaving always had people complain about his cuts or his personality. Best thing to do is ask the stylist what they’re comfortable with doing. Personally I do well with women’s cuts and men cuts (2nd clipper guard or higher) but I always struggle with bald fades

Right. They aren't barbers. Who told you they were? Go to a barber shop. No one with any real training uses those ridiculous guards, anyway, because the guard follows the head bones and causes weird "bumps" in the fade. maybe some cool DOWN TOWN barbers can pull off a sick fade, but most of these franchises are owned by people who don't even cut hair. I rather burn my license than work for those jerks. They are the WORST company on the planet.
