If they had stayed at the scene (they both had left) the man may have wound up dead and the video/phone taken into custody and held as evidence. And his sister would at best be on a local news network demanding a fair trial for what she "believes" to be murder of her brother and for the "tapes/recording" to be released.
that is the general status quo for these type of events when the possible victim doesn't survive to tell their side of the story and its all left upto the Amy's and Police to tell us what that blackman was "really" doing that day.
i am 95% certain had he stayed at the scene he would be dead and the message in the news, by Amy and the police would be a complete 180 from what we see here.

His presence of mind and calm rational thought are an inspiration. So pleased to see this lady held accountable for her tirade. Unlike Christian I’m not going to graciously forgive and accept. I think her behaviour was monstrous and I believe it is a window to exactly who SHE is and what the system is. Once we accept that truth... our action should be easier to divine. We should stop pretending that this is unusual behaviour. It’s systemic.

@Medi Cogglet - Mr. Cooper is in his 50s, and his father was a civil rights activist in the 1960s on Long Island. So yes, his parents certainly discussed issues of race with him. He has said in other interviews that his father taught him and his sister to always speak up when they see wrongdoing. Your comment that "all that white adjacentness made him forget who he is to the power structure" is quite insulting. You bet he won't do that sort of thing again? Do you expect him to now bow down to entitled white people because of this experience? I doubt that he viewed asking some random woman (white or otherwise) to leash her dog as something that would lead to such a widespread discussion on racism in this country. However, some people are willing to take risks in the name of progress and the greater good. If everyone cowered in the face of perceived danger and never stood up for what they believe in, then no progress would ever be made.

Melody did the right thing by posting the video in this situation. She basically opened up the door for a discussion on racism, which is still prevalent in our Country. Her brother is extremely smart and knowledgeable. He needs to educate us with his knowledge. I was watching another news segment portraying the three generations of African America men. The older man was extremely anger. The middle generation man was trying to calm the older man down by showing and saying he was listening to him. Then, the middle generation man was talking to the younger generation man asking him what we need to do about it to fix it. After the incident, the middle generation man explains to the viewers why he acted in the way he did. This man has so much passion and ability to relate to the angry men. He is a modern Martin Luther King, Jr. Now, we need to get this modern Martin Luther King, Jr and this very educated man together to preach and teach America. The door has been open. Now we need to walk through.

She did not make ONE bad decision, I count at least three: first, she decided that she was somehow 'above' the dog leash regulation; second, when she was politely asked to comply, she turned aggressively on the man about his right to film their conversation; and most seriously, she lied to the authorities to try to get this innocent man into trouble. This does not sound like someone who just 'had a bad day', it looks more like someone who's used to using deceit and manipulation to get what she wants and to avoid taking responsibility for her actions.

That's not what happened. Find out the whole story which the man conveniently left out of this interview.

@@otakurocklee I can't find anything that contradicts the accepted version of the story, but there's this that seems to support it:

What if a stranger would suddenly approached you in an empty park with a rude attitude and start videotaping you?

@@smartlady3892 a) he wasn't rude, b) he asked her politely to STOP BREAKING THE LAW, c) he showed restraint and maturity when SHE became rude and abusive and made untrue accusations, which you must know enough to see could have resulted in his death.

I am glad that an educated man was able to experience this and able explained his story. Like his sister said, he was lucky to have an education to be taken seriously. This doesnt have to happen! This country needs to change!
