The’53 Skylark was a very rare factory custom. Chopped and channeled by Buick from a Roadmaster. Priced higher than a Rolls Royce. Although that one looks rough, it’s a really rare vehicle.
I knew they were a rare car.. didn't know about the price point though, thanks for that information, but I'm sure you know like I do that even if it's rare condition dictates value, and in this case its condition really hurt its value. And from the add I believe they are adding in sentimental value. I do believe the car is worth a pretty penny, but no where near 120k. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@MOTORHEADMISFITS-zk9su Rare? I sure as hell hope it's rare. That's either an utter waste of talent or a case of too much money not enough brains. An old friend had he seen that would have said; "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." Nuff said?
Just throwing this out there, but the expensive one originally had bad fit and finish, no doubt, but also with what I saw, check for accident damage, because fit and finish on it was ridiculously bad.
I grew up in the 70's, the era of Baja's, V-Dub kits, and body swapped 4x4's (mostly El Caminos for the wheel base) Baja's were cool if done right, dune buggies were meh, other kits were eye rollers (Rolls Royce and Forty Ford rips) and body swaps were ridiculous and many times dangerous. On the positive side, I'm sure these projects were an introduction for many future builders whose skills and visions improved. So no matter my opinion on anyone's labor of love or their particular taste (or lack of) in rolling stock, ya'll keep on trucking!
Same here.. we had a lot of questionable builds kits back then. And yes them Bajas were very cool.. and let's not forget the dune buggies, those were fun. But as long as people are still keeping cars alive that's all that matters.. I may just do a lot more of an inspection before I drive someone else's build. Thanks for watching and commenting sir.

Definitely give it a second chance to be a more normal car, instead of the Frankenstein thing they were trying to make. Maybe use a box body frame to give it power disc brakes and a comfortable ride. Those also could have a V8, so that wouldn't be hard to swap in, and parts availability is better than the original frame would have.
Well if it's on an avalanche chassis, it should at least have a 5.3 or possible 6.0 ls motor, I'd save that drive train and slap it on a non 4x4 chassis. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I know they are worth money and was a special build.. but the one on the channel is a far cry from its asking price.. condition means a lot when it's a collector car. But it does have value still. Thanks for watching and commenting
Ok, so with the '48 Pontiac, I did a little research on it because I put out some advice about it for a frame swap. The wheel base is 119inches, the length is 204.5, the front track width is 58 inches, and the rear track width is 61.5. fun stuff right? The 1988 Caprice measurements are: length 212.8, width 75.4, wheelbase 116, front track width 61.7,rear track width 60.7. so it would work with a few alterations and a wider rear axle. Better brakes, suspension geometry, ride comfort, better parts availability, and it would be able to handle a V8 easier too. So if someone wants to try to save it from idiots trying to take it off road, and screwing it up, you have options.
That sounds about right.. from what I remember about the old caprice, and would definitely help with replacement parts and ride quality for sure.. thanks for looking it up and sharing your findings. Hopefully someone will rescue the old girl.
