  • Sorry for the reupload. I am splitting the original 3 hour video up into 4 smaller videos. The original did not process correctly and the clips got all mixed up.
This first clip is 1080p, 60hz, full fish-eye. Battery only lasted 49 minutes and the GoPro 10 overheated.
This is my first shot at giving you guys the same incredible view I get to have. Running the ASV RT135 and Loftness Bad Ax. Of course, the AC in the 135 broke for the 7th? time in just 380 total machine hours. So I'm sweating my brains out trying to finish this 2nd 50-acre piece of ground so we can get paid. I've still got 92 acres left of trees to clear at this pasture. We have to do it in 50 acre sections for the contract.
Let me know what different things you'd like to see or have me do to the editing. I just basically uploaded this raw, other than the intro.
The 3rd 50 acres will be the thickest. Pretty much just like this video, but for the whole 50 acres. It will also be very gnarly, as it's all of the sidehills (hilltops are all now done).

Did a similar job in NE TX clearing >300 acres of cedar. Instead of a mulcher I used a D5 dozer and 311 excavator. Been thinking about buying a machine to do this kind of work and rock crushing but after seeing your review video I'm a little gun shy. It seems they are quite a bit more maintenance intensive than the dozer and ex. With the dozer and excavator I worked that area from Jan to Jul, never broke down and also created 3 large stock tanks.

I often wonder what the difference would be if I'd have gone that dozer/exc route. What the damage would be to the soil and what the reestablishing period would be to get back to solid grass. The fact you can remove the stumps immediately would be a major plus. But with my method, it only takes 2-3 years for the grass to fill back in. Also curious how much more you're spreading the cedar seeds around than I am and which is less work to deal with.

This is incredible, awesome work, frustrating when machine needs work I can see why now. May I ask what would ya charge for a 50 acre clearing like this, with the setup you are using. Thanks for posting! I think I like this better than a mulcher head. Sometimes it just depends on the work, and may I ask what's the longest shift you run your machine? Some say 8 hrs a day some say all day, what have you preferred works? Thanks again, tree shredder

Most people charge $200-$250/hr or $1k/ac. I'll run till something breaks, plugs up, needs fuel, or it's too dirty. Hours never stop me. If everything works all day I'll run sun up to sun down, but that's a rarity, which is why I take full advantage.

One more question, how close are the blades to the ground? Looks like sometimes it will mulch the dirt? Or just a couple inches above the ground? Bout how many acres in this video per full day of work can you clear? This would take forever with chainsaw

It cuts 1" above if you "mow" with it on flat ground. Goes below surface if you tilt head. But after you expose that soft soil to the rain, it will erode and expose more stump within the first year. After several years, the stumps decompose and turn to mush.
