Bob Cole is the best announcer, love hearing his voice on CBC.
Did he retire?
Bob Cole all the way.
Jim Hughson annoys me
@Albert8004 I prefer Chris Cuthbert, but as long as I don’t hear Harry Neale with him.
not even close---Bill Hewitt/Danny Gallivan/Dan Kelly were superior to that dinosaur Cole in every way--in fact, Cole got so bad he was starting to forget the names of the players at one point--he wouldn't retire because of his enormous ego which wouldn't let him--he was literally forced to (in fact in 2019 Cole expressed bitterness in a CTV interview that he was made to retire)
@@bufnyfan1 That's what happens when old age and Alzheimer's mix.
Absolute ICON of the game. The soundtrack of my childhood. RIP Bob.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Some of his calls are instilled in my brain forever.
another day another one of gods angels called back to the heavens, thanks for the memories bob
Echoing the same sentiment - I grew up in Scarborough in the 80s… the Leafs were just awful during those Ballard years. But despite those god awful teams…. I have fond memories of Bob Cole doing play by play of all HNIC Leaf games Saturday nights starting at 8 pm EST during those days. The inflection in his voice during key moments of the game… knowing when to pause and let the crowd do the talking… it was just heaven listening to him. Truly the soundtrack of my childhood. A part of my childhood died too with Bob Cole this week - RIP Mr. Cole. There will never be another like you. I feel privileged to have listened to you at the height of your career.
@@Death-np9yz Amen to that - so well said.
Heaven just got another golden voice. Farewell, Bob
The voice of my childhood. RIP to the absolute legend.
Rest in peace Bob, the voice of a million memories. Forever remembered as a Canadian icon.
Rest in peace Bob. Voice of generations literally.
Why add unnecessary music? The calls are good enough on their own.
Rest easy Bob, what a legend !
RIP Bob Cole. Loved listening to him call games

The game hasn’t felt the same since Bob left. Saturday nights and playoff time don’t have the same occasion. Thanks Bob for a great career.

Deh troy-et wins the game, Deh Troy-et wins the series! Love Bob Cole!
Love it when he says 'OH SABY!' Bob Cole IS Hockey Night in Canada!
Rip Legend. The voice of Canadian hockey for 5 decades.
It's a sad day in Canada. Rest in peace, Mr. Cole.
RIP Bob... The voice of so many generations of hockey fans in Canada. Legend.
OHHH BABY! The voice of HNIC. Rest in peace Bob Cole and thank you legend!
CBC hockey night in Canada won't be the same without him. When Toronto and my habs were playing and Bob Cole was on the air My family was glued to the tv.
This video gave me goosebumps remembering all the memories from all the games called with that iconic voice. Thanks for all the memories Mr. Cole. R.I.P.
RIP Mr. Cole from a fellow Newfoundlander.
Where ever you are I am sure you are still calling the play by play.
Ohhhhhh baby I know you are !!!!!
42 year old Hamiltonian here....The man was the voice of my youth. RIP Bob.
The Gilmour goal came at 2am Newfoundland time, I screamed, my dad screamed, my dog, a fat German Shepherd who believed we were being invaded went to the window and screamed, a great hockey memory made better by Bob Cole.
Best announcer of all time
Also I miss the old HNiC
Honestly, Bob was the Tress MacNeille of CBC, ‘cause they’re both iconic voices of the 90s. Except Tress was in numerous American cartoons including Animaniacs, Rugrats, The Simpsons and Futurama.
RIP Bob Cole. He will be missed dearly.
Oh Baby! What a career. My entire childhood revolves around Saturday night and this man. Will be missed for sure
Gobitz Games - grew up in Detroit but was tuned into CBC Channel 9 from Windsor, ON every Saturday night.
I don't think I'll love another hockey presence quite like Bob's. Every childhood memory of watching the playoffs encapsulated in that one voice, like a member of the family. You never know you're in a golden age of something until it's past.
I grew up in Detroit listening to Bob and Harry. To me, the two of them are the voices of NHL hockey. Bob was my all-time favorite play-by-play man. I will never forget him. RIP Mr. Cole.
Rest in peace, legend. One of the best to ever do it.
A Maritime born legend Bob Cole that I saw on CBC great voices and a great person my sympathy to all his family.
The voice of a generation. Bob had a very rare gift, his play-by-play could make any game or any player sound 10 times more exciting than it actually was.
Canada loves you Bob, and we'll miss you. RIP
RIP to the voice of a generation.
A true Canadian and hockey icon. He loved our game, he loved our country and he loved us. He was a master of his craft, he was the soundtrack of my childhood all those Saturday nights watching hockey with my folks. Rest in peace Mr.Cole, a true legend! OHHH BABY!
So many iconic calls, Rip Bob
A true legend, never be another Bob Cole, thanks for being a part of my childhood and the adulthood listening to you. The excitement and passion for the game in your voice was real. Today's play by play don't have that, tonight canada and the hockey world are already missing you. Put a hockey stick outside your front door in memory of Bob, write on it....... oh baby !!
It's a real shame that this doesn't have his call of Sakic's goal that clinched the gold-medal game in Salt Lake City 2002. I assume it's a rights issue, but that to me will always stand out as Cole's best call.
Jyyyoe Sackic!
His most legendary calls by a mile are "Oh baby" and "They're going home"!
The voice of the game, RIP Bob Cole
Rest in Peace Bob, thank you for all the great hockey memories you created for us all!
Love you and will miss you, Bob. RIP old friend.
RIP Bob. Absolute legend, among the absolute best there’s ever been.

The greatest announcer to ever call a game! Bob made every game feel like game 7 of the cup finals. RIP.
The call from Yzerman's blast in '96 gave me the chills.... Nobody bigger than Mr. Cole. Rest in peace.
Bob Cole and Harry Neale…. Best play calling duo in all of sports! Legends of my sports childhood!
RIP Bob Cole. You were the best
End to an Era. His voice was always on hockey games when I was a kid. Thank you Bob, enjoy your retirement at the end of the year!
Missing you Bob. Thanks for the amazing memories!
The voice of hockey as a kid. I might be a Devils fan but he made watching the Leafs, Habs, sens, really any Canadian team must watch.
He brought class to play by play unlike any other.
RIP to the legend
RIP Bob. I loved listening to your hockey broadcasts growing up. You set the standard so high that every other broadcaster after you was average at best. You will be missed.

RIP Bob Cole ❤
How do I like this video a trillion times. Bobs calls on hnic filled my life and imagination. Rest easy Mr Cole aka mr saturday night...😊
Summer would always begin with the playoffs starting and hearing Bob Coles glorious goalie intros and iconic voice, RIP to a legend
We had it all up here in Northern Ontario on them nights years ago...My memories of hanging out in the Big Bear Hotel and Railway Bunkhouse (Hawk Junction Ontario Canada!)...those nights...them memories will never fade!
Bob's sense of the hockey moment was unparalleled. His powers of escalation. As the hockey became more perilous, not only did his tone peak and has cadence become more urgent, he became a minimalist to stay right on top of it. "Oh, he's IN!" "He's right in!!" "Look out!!!" "Reeeeeeebound!!!!" "'Nuther shot!!!" In his long prime he was never, ever behind the play. He understood that he was doing television, not radio. In radio you have to paint a picture of the play with a full description of players, where they are, what they're doing. In television the pictures are already there. Bob Cole was like a great movie having the perfect musical score. Perfect synergy. All he needed to do was escalate to "Scorrrrrrrres!!!" or simply say the players name to make it great.
R.i.p bob cole u were sweet and humble the game will miss u
RIP Bob Cole. You were and are a legend and apart of the game and so many for 5 decades. Regardless of what your team is, i think i can speak for every hockey fan like myself that, you will be missed.
Thank you.
RIP.
Seeing this right now hits even harder 💔
The greatest Canadian announcer ever. RIP Bob Cole.
I was at his last game in Montreal. Really emotional moment. Great game too. Glad there was a lot of excitement for his last game. OH BABY!
Emotional?? yea-relief that that dinosaur Cole finally left---he didn't retire--he was pushed out--he was known behind the scenes to have an enormous ego--in fact in 2019 during an interview on CTV he said he was angry he was forced to retire
Rest in Peace you absolute legend
