Not so my mustang is fastet
Currently have 2017 GTI performance pack (USA car) and getting a Golf R tomorrow (both manual transmission). It will be interesting to see how much difference there is in real life in gear. I don't care about launching, but the power to weight is still quite a bit better on the R, so we'll see.
@@catvideos3249 I agree, but not everyone is keen on tuning. After a year with the GOLF R, I can definitively say that it is faster in-gear but the difference is not night and day. I had both cars together for about a month and drove them back-to-back. The biggest acceleration difference is at the top end. The GTI runs out of breath above ~5200rpm while the R pulls all the way out. It feels more like a naturally aspirated car in that regard.
When Golf R reach 250km/h the GTI version is at 242k/h...GTI is very fast!

Horrible comparison. The golf R looks 10x faster in the video because it is DSG whereas the GTI is a manual. Yes the golf r is faster of course, but not as much faster as the video makes it look.
heyitsme I actually thought the opposite. Like not enough difference between the GTI and the golf R. Like the gti was tuned or the conditions were not the same
there is a big difference. Id live any of them but the R is way faster not just because ofbthe dsg.. more power and awd with launch control. Makes it faster, however above 200 the difference is not obvious and the gti doesnt suffer from the awd weight
@@louisolivierfortin it a Clubsport GTI not sold in the USA. has more hp the one sold here in the USA by 30 to 40 hp. wish they would bring it over to the USA only came in manual.
0-100 in 4.8s 0-160 in 10.8s and 0-200 in 17s this are the times and this are real times so wtf are you even talking about and gti did 0-200 in 19 sec its not so bad

Golf R AWD traction is a huge help getting launched. GTI vs R power numbers shouldn't be an argument because with mods they both get same power, but the R being AWD is heavier and more stuff losing the crank power being converted to ground. On the other hand if the GTI is spinning the power is useless.
Either way I have a new mk7.5 GTI that I'll be getting a lot of mods done to in a few weeks. I'll put it on my channel. 👍 Then we will see if my new tires can put the new power down.
Can someone please explain to me.... why my r32 stock does 0-100 in the same time as this R, but is way heavier... and way less power.... video is on my profile

That is not a GTI, that is ai GTI clubsport which is not a normal GTI. Its like i put to the test a GTI clubsport STOCK and an R stage 1. Plus we sont know on what downhill the GTI was filmed. :)

TC nowadays is not able to be put off 100% in no brand when not unlocked
when wheelspin occurs the TC or ABS kicks in to get maximum torque out of the car

the only diffrence ive ever measured is that my rear wheels closed the halifax at the rear earlier at maximum torque faster with tc on than off (more power loss)

Golf R gear 7 very low RPM
VW was my go to vehicle for years until 2016 purchase of a new GTI it was a great auto when the vehicle hit 26k miles I took to dealership for check up and was told clutch was gone? VW would NOT honor new vehicle warranty. Goodbye VW after 6 new purchases and years of loyalty # heartbroken
Well after 26k miles the clutch might be gone because you handled it wrongly. I can understand that, it would have been something different if it happened in the first 5-10k miles.
Thats due To your bad driving, my 2009 gti has 230000km and the original clutch is like new

the clutch is aware and tare item no compony will replace it under warranty. just like they will not replace tires under warranty.

Why is the R not much faster? 60 Hp more, 4 Motion but not much quicker than a GTI...

The 4 motion only helps in the launch, as it hurdles towards 260kmh 4motion is nothing but a parasitic drag that hurts the performance, same with the DSG transmition, it helps improve the shift times but at a cost of being 2-3% more power consuming.

@@formentorvz5 I agree, that's why I didn't bother buying a Golf R. I'm quite happy with the equipment the GTI comes with for $29,000. The little upgrades like a better sound system, the 7spd auto or the leather seats & digital dash Along with the bump in HP and 4motion didn't seem like it was worth the $14,000 + extra tax & intrest.
@@SG-wj2qj Well if you want you can still upgrade the sound system to something even better than the one in the R.
Also leather is not always the best choice, my seats are partly leather and if you touch these areas on a hot summer day it burns like hell.
So I also think you made the right choice, the GTI is an awesome allround car, maybe even all the car a man needs and its still affordable.
Don't understand why people make these kind of video's of Standard out of the factory cars, like we don't know the specs ? Everything is listed on the internet. we don't need these kind of video's

Clubsport GTI does not come in DSG.
It doesn’t matter, is still automatic transmission, he isn’t Ayrton Senna to switch the manual transmission quickly as automatic did.

No the GTi runs a 0-60 a lot faster than 7.2 seconds you can see videos and even stats online for that you dibshits. Plus my friend has a 2018 GTi I promise you it runs more like 6 seconds flat

Ich würde sogar behaupten, dass den größten Unterschied die launch control macht.. Hätte beim GTI nicht die Traktionskontrolle gearbeitet, wäre er genau so schnell vom Fleck gekommen, zumindest sieht es meiner Meinung im Video danach aus.. Und die Differenz bleibt auch immer gleich, der R liegt, egal wann, immer 10-15 km/h vorne, der Abstand wird aber nicht größer, oder täusche ich mich da?
