You should watch this video above. It’s Toby Keith’s Red, White and Blue.
This song was written after 9/11. It’s very raw, but patriotic too.

This was early in Toby's career & he & Tim McGraw both debuted their first albums at the same time in 1993. They even toured together. He was just a baby here. And yes, he was talking about the changes in the house & then talking about his family. It shows how much divorce sucks & her new man is running his old life. And the song is not about him. He married his wife when he was 23 & they were together till he passed. Ironically Tim McGraw has a kinda funny one about divorce too, called 'Do you want fries with that'. (2nd job of a divorcee)

I'm a new subscriber. What I really like about your reactions is that they are genuine.....raw and emotional when you feel it. Never be ashamed or afraid to show that. More people should. May I recommend Hardy ft. Lainey Wilson Wait in the Truck. I think you'll like it.

The intricate story telling goes way back in country music. If you've never reacted to him, consider reacting to Tom T Hall. He wrote some amazing songs with little details. I would suggest "Watermelon Wine" and "The Day That Clayton Delaney Died" by Tom T. Hall. I believe he wrote both. Great reaction.

Early in Toby's career, he found the most success with his big ballads. In 99, he released "How Do You Like Me Now?" and a lot more of his humorous edge came out, and those are what he became known for far more at the end of his career. He still had the occasional ballad interspersed, but a lot more of those upbeat, poppy, tongue-in-cheek songs. "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying" was done with Sting, and is a must listen--another early-career big ballad. For another fun one, "Beer for My Horses," which was with great Willie Nelson.

This song was inspired by someone who was going through a divorce . I’m not sure who it was but Toby had a conversation about the divorce the other person was going through.
Toby was a great storyteller ❤

Your friend Judd is giving you excellent songs to review, how about reviewing some old school. Say George Jones, He stopped loving her today and the corvette song. Bobby Bare, The winner and numbers. The next artist is a little different. This music was a category called country and western, Marty Robbins had hits in pop, country and western. As a side line he even sang Hawaiian, he's most remembered for his western songs, he is considered one the best story tellers. Most people love the song El Paso. But you may want to try Devil Woman, Big Iron and Cowboy in a Continental Suit also. They will give you idea about the other half of this type of music

Brita don't get it as much as Americans. Divorce and taking children from their fathers is encouraged here. My wife did this exact thing to me basically. Worked so hard to get our first house, we have 2 beautiful children and it just hits home for many men here.

You should do Trailerhood and Talk about Me by Toby Keith. Hilarious. The first album Toby Keith did was with a record label that wouldn't let him do the things he wanted to do, so they let him go, he bought back his music and he went and started Show Dog Records. It's not that the songs were bad but that feel is different. Someone else's stamp was on the music. And Yes that was his ex's new guy.
I had arguing parents...2:00 am was there favorite time to argue. Made school very tiring.

This isn't even Toby's only divorce song. There's also "I'm So Happy I Can't Stop Crying," which is about a guy coming to terms with the divorce.
Also, "guy sitting in his truck realizing his girl has moved on" is practically a subgenre of country music. I can think of 3 songs just off the top of my head:
"That Ain't My Truck" by Rhett Akins
"I Don't Have to Wonder" by Garth Brooks
"Cab in a Solo" by Scotty McCreery

Nothing weird going on here , this is why todays music is so boring .. everything sounds the same so when you got a really talented singer/ songwriter the music is going to sound original. That is a good thing and is why Toby Keith was so successful and is an original.
