Having a a similar problem. Nearly judy chopped it off. But clearer heads prevailed and I just put a out of order sign on the door and have been using the spare bedroom shower.

Video was to show that removing a stuck /stubborn handle to removal. Plumbers gave an estimate over $500. Will match up parts when they come in.
Next time hammer a VT-15 (star shaped driver bit) into the screw head. It will cut into the hex grooves and u can unscrew with a bit driver...

Why would you mismatch everything like that? Gold ring, chrome spout, chrome plate, brushed handle.
It was just spare parts I had in garage. Had to wait 8 weeks til a new matching parts came back from manufacture. Old parts had a lifetime warranty.
