  • After many weeks of waiting and whining, at the very last moment before the winter stop it has finally happened: the Nürburgring region warmed up, melted all the ice and snow and was finally OPEN! And you know what this means: a lap with the GR YARIS!!!
Being out of action for almost a month, tricky conditions and general lack of desire to end up in the wall made me a lot more cautious than you may be used of me, but even so it was enough to leave me blown away by the GR Yaris' performance. And this is just its stock form with the mods from Manthey-Racing ready to be installed soon...

Regarding suspension comments starting around 7:00, if you don't replace it too soon, you'll learn that the stock suspension is in actually very very good with lots of travel and surpisingly compliant down a bumpy road in a way no modern sporty car does today anymore. The fact that GR can combine this with a suspension that still does a good job on track is amazing. To owners already planning to lower the car before trying it - you might actually ruin one of the best parts of the road behaviour of this car...

But this mixed conditions is IMO what this car is all about. At least with front/rear torque management you can dial in the needed amount of oversteer on the way out.

Nice to see a car with so much hype appear to live up to it in pretty much every way that counts. I'd say you're exactly spot on with respect to the power; too much would change things in ways that wouldn't be good in a lot of circumstances and the majority of drivers. It's not exactly slow as it is, LOL.
All the more annoying that so many say they got the driving position incorrect. Seriously, how do you do that as a manufacturer? Doesn't anyone sit in it, let alone drive it, before they decide on such things? Bizarre.
