Ive taken my 19' boat 28 miles offshore several times, and many other times 18 or less. It all depends on the boat, and how skilled you are as a captain. Pick your days carefully, and know your equipment.

You could probably get one kayak on the skiff and get it out there 15 miles out and get in a kayak around those rigs, that would be an awesome experience.

Took my 16ft Sundance out on lake George in Ocala to go swimming at silver Glen Wasn't too bad on my way out. On the way in we had 30 mph gusts, white caps and breaking waves. Definitely gotta pick your day's and check the weather with any trip you make inshore, offshore or big lakes. Was pretty scary having my wife with me.

Ocala can get nasty . Take you’re Sundance out to crystal river . Put in at fort island and be slow lots of rocks oyster bars and sand bars . There’s a few to the left of the ramp and a pretty big sand / grass flat . Depending on when u go u can’t see them . But they are just under the surface. Tones of good fishing and sandy hook is a great sand bar / island to anchor up and swim / party with all the people .

Just because you get flat seas going out to the fishing grounds DOES NOT mean you will get flat seas going back!! I can’t tell you how many times this has been the case for us. A weather forecast is just a highly educated guess. The wind will do what it wants to and if it decides to blow hard while you are 15 miles out on a little flat skiff- well I hope you have an EPRB, radio, and good life jackets.

A person my brother knows was picked up by the Coast Guard he was 15 miles out in a Kayak.....they picked him because he was fishing in the dark and they thought he was nuts....must be out of his mind to be that far out in a kayak in the dark right... dad went out when he was young in 16 foot ski boat but he was more like 40 miles out when the wind came up.....needless to say he never did it again.....but he has a great story to tell......part of being a man taking on challenges that seem crazy and living to tell about it LOL
