The best part about trucks and builds is you can do what works for you.
Exactly. A blank canvas to build it for your own needs/wants. Thanks for watching.
Yes , definitely skip the weenie beds unless you need a stool to reach stuff in the freezer .
Cab hi tops will certainly work , but I find the extra head room in mid or hi rise topper to be a godsend , especially if you are socked in for several days by weather .
I also prefer a front slider since it gives you another level of convenience if your truck has a rear sliding window .
Also , a pop up canopy( or 2 ! ) like a 10' x 10' slides right in on the floor and gives you extra space outside for extended stays .
If space is truly at a premium , a few tarps and some cordage will do just as well .
Been dirt bagging for decades and love it .
Tents are a PIA at best , and nothing beats being able to just park and skip having to set up camp after a long drive . Just crawl in the back and deal with whatever after a good night's rest .
You have a very well thought out set up there , over all .
I’ve watched a ton of these videos in preparation for my build. This is by far the best set up I’ve seen. Thank you again for taking the time to produce such a great in-depth video. I’ll be reaching out to you as I continue my build I just received my topper and the work has begun. Thanks again
Thanks for the kind words and for watching. Much appreciated. Good luck with your build!
@@Outside605 go camping tomorrow night
That was about the best bed/storage setup I have seen yet.
Thanks for watching. Wait until you see my new one I’m building. Video up hopefully soon.
It’s almost stupid how easy this build is and how clean it looks compared so some of the others on yt. I’m doing literally this lol good job brotha.
Awesome. Good luck on the build and thanks for watching!
Best setup I've seen. Looks better aesthetically than most. Clean truck too
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching.
Really good buildout here. I've been reviewing many, many of these videos over the past few months in preparation for building my own. This is very helpful, thank you for sharing. The 2x2 tip is especially useful for weight consideration.
Glad I could help!
I too have watched numerous videos on YT about camper builds. I also want my build to be removable. Your build has given me several new ideas which I will incorporate into mine. I especially like the idea of covering the outside of the box with paneling so it doesn't look so trashy. I like that way better than just painting the box. I also like the lighting options and the heater. Great build!!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
That's one of the best setups I've seen
Thank you!
Like the set up.
Very uncluttered looking and efficient. Like way the vampire box bed platform fits around the wheelwell.
Thank you!!
Building my micro camper and your video was just great. The bed design is very professional and a real spacesaver. Perfect for me and just what I was thinking of doing but it was great to see your result b4 I started my project. Everything was perfect. Love your work. Have subscribed for future projects. Your explanations are very easy to follow. I am a fan.
Cheers from Al in Sydney Australia.
Thank you for the kind words. I'm still learning the whole "filming by myself" type of content so it's a work in progress. I'm glad people can find value in the videos. Soon I will have a video up of the new setup I'm finishing up. Similar design but a few more creature comforts.
Thanks again for watching. Australia is on my list of places to visit at some point in my life. Safe travels!
@@Outside605 You seem to be doing an outstanding job so far, filming on your own!
I admire the way you organize things. I like the box design. Great Job!
Thank you.
Afternoon Andy im impressed by what you have done with your truck very well organized you have thought of everything stay safe and God Bless you as you travel im in philly watching
Thank you very much!
Love your set up. I am planning my build for my Silverado. Got my topper this Fall, and am trying to find the best set up for my camping needs. Your power system is amazing. Thanks for sharing, I subscribed and look forward to what you have coming up.
Thanks for watching and good luck with your build. I have plans to update this setup as it's a couple years old now. I'll be adding a 12v fridge, a higher capacity lithium battery, and hopefully some kind of solar option. Thanks again.
Oh, yes! Your set up is by far the best...
Thank you!!
Very nice setup. The chair is key so you can hang out back there without being hunched over the whole time. I have a cab height shell just like you so I went with a low profile cot and that allows me to sit up straight without hunching, however, I give up any kind of storage space under my bed. Works for me though and looks like your system works great for you. Good job on everything!
Years ago I started with a cot. It worked great. I found Rubbermaid totes that were the perfect height to slide under the cot. I liked how quick it was to tear down if I didn't want it in the back of my truck. My current setup is much more functional for longer trips but it takes up a lot more space. Like you said, the chair is essential, especially on days where its raining or uncomfortable to be outside.
Thanks again for watching.
Hand down the best build I’ve seen!
Thank you!
Nice build! Love the simplicity, and clean look!!
Thank you!
Hi Andy, your set up is by far the best I have seen. I have been tinkering with ideas for a few years now that just didn't quite work. I have new inspiration and motivation to move ahead. T\Great job and thanks again!
Glad to help
This appears to be a very cost effective minimal setup. Just only what you need. And something setup to be friendly if the bed needs to be emptied for other things. Very nice.
Thanks for watching!
Genius. Exactly the sort of thing I was imagining, but I'm not handy, so this is a great point of departure. Thanks!
Thank you! I rebuilt this setup in a newer video with some other ideas I came up with. Maybe check it out if you have time.
Thanks again for watching!
@@Outside605 Thanks! I'm getting ready to retire, and am planning a few months of vagabonding before I settle into a new house, so your presentations are extremely helpful. --cheers.
@@larsthorwald3338 enjoy the ride!
Maybe the empty switch could be a loud alarm that you can push if you hear suspicious stuff going on at your truck. Love the video. Great!
That wouldn't be a bad idea. Even for bears if you live in a bear area.
Awesome setup, smart thinking of designing 👍👍👍 ❤️it simple functional
Real nice rig. Well thought out and looks great.
Thanks for watching!
I love organization & aesthetics! Great Set Up!
Thank you!!
Looks great. I like how you put the electronic connections into the bed side
Thank you! Cheers!
This build was very well thought out!👏🌞
Thank you!
The build is very nice and practical.
Very nice build ! Your presentation and description was awesome !
Thank you!
Grate video! Happy to see new video of all the wiring you did.
Thanks for watching!
Nice work ! I used to truck camp years ago but your setup is awesome!
Awesome! Thank you!
Great build man well thought out ! Glad I watched !
Thank you! Check out my other builds I've done since this one for more ideas.
Great informative video; your build is well thought out. Thank you.
nice job andy, I like your thinking, makes a lot of sense, keep it simple
Thanks for watching!
Love the setup. The few things I would add that you don’t have or didn’t show is an overhead light of some sort to allow for reading and a small solar panel to help maintain the battery on longer trips. Consider a solar panel for an electric fence or something similar and weather/wind resistant that would mount flush to the top of the camper shell. Overall, excellent video and I took away a few ideas for my build.
Sorry for the delayed reply. I miss comments from time to time. I do have overhead "tap" lights that are mounted to the carpet ceiling with sticky back Velcro squares. Pretty slick.
I did update this setup earlier in the summer. I added a solar charge controller that utilizes a portable solar panel.
Thanks again for watching!
Really detailed video. Awesome work my man!
Thanks for watching
On the switch that goes to nothing add a rear “porch light” off the back you won’t regret it. Or you can get a solar light that has a switch on it. I put one on the roof rack of my Tahoe off the back and I love having that especially when bugs are out so you don’t have to have the vehicles rear opened up letting bugs in
I've thought about that but I want to get a rack for the top first. That will give me something solid to attach it to. Thinking a flood light bar facing backwards. Great idea and thanks for watching!
Great truck camper build, DIY is the best way to go!!!
Thanks!!
Very nice. Practical and useful. Great job.
Thank you!
Very good video and design for a simple yet functional bed. I’ll be using your design for my build. Only thing of concern for me is portable toilet. I am in my early 70s and when I wake up in the middle of the night it’s not easy to get out of the truck and go wherever. Thanks for sharing your video.
A Gatorade bottle works well for late night!
I use an empty bottle for windshield wash. Crude but gets me through the evening/night without having to climb in and out.
Pee happens
This is incredible! I definitely want to do this for my Silverado.
Sounds like a fun project. Thanks for watching.
Great work.
Love the organization brother.
Much appreciated
Nice build intelligent design 👍👍👍
Thanks for the new ideas
No problem!
You have some great ideas. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching.
Very well thought build, congratulations 👍
Thank you! 👍
I have the 8 foot bed on my truck and a camper shell. I am considering a ladder rack on top . You might consider one also. I can store a lot up there and it's completely independent of the camper shell and extends to the front of the cab.
I've been considering that.
that's a steal of a deal for the canopy, wow nice! I had to buy a new one for my first gen Tundra because after looking for 5 months I could only find used ones that would fit the 8 foot bed ;P
they really ding you at the dealer, 250 per sliding window, 600 for paint, 700 for roof rack!! it's crazy
I got lucky. Having a very common truck helps the odds a little.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for sharing. Great ideas.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome job. Great ideas!
Thank you! 😊
Thanks for your video, this is the one I want to build for my truck.
Glad I could help! Thanks.
Very well organized!
Thank you!
Looks neat indeed. Head space might be a bit little, so the camping chair looks fitting. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Great video and very informative. I'm starting my bed camper build today... I have a RAM 2500 with a 6'5" bed with a color matching LEER topper.

One of the best
Thank you!!
I got an extended cap and it’s amazing
Thanks for watching!
Love this build! A lot of room for storage with a lot of open space left in the truck bed.
Thank you. That was the goal. Keep things stashed away and organized.
Nice job
Thank you!
Awesome build buddy, just subscribed to see more.
Awesome, thank you very much!
Good Job
Very Nice Thanks For Sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice rig!
Thanks!
Nicely done. I'll be making my truck bed similar to yours.
Thanks for watching. In the weeks since I filmed this video, I'm in the process of completely rebuilding my setup. It will be complete this Saturday and if all goes well, I'll have a new video up of the new one. It's pretty similar but more functional. Better electrical system with lithium power, integrated ventilation fans, better lighting, and better fit/finish/ergonomics. Stay tuned and thanks again.
@@Outside605 The video I would like to see most is a wiring video for the power in the back of the truck. If you have time!
I'll see what I can do.
@@Outside605 Thank you!
This is perfect! I think this is going to be my next project. But I'm probably going to do a wood stove for heat. I can probably get away with just my portable battery pack for power. It's only 26ah but has a built in 480w inverter. I can add extra batteries or just a solar panel.
Sounds like a sweet setup. Thanks for watching!
Nice build
Thank you!
Good deal on the camper top. All in, GREAT price!
Look around long enough and the right deals pop up. At least pre-covid haha.
Thanks for watching.
Very nice job Andy. You did a fabulous job building. Also, very well job producing the video. I had to subscribe and like on your efforts as well. I’ll probably build very similar
Thank you! Much appreciated.
Check out my latest video for my newest build similar to this one.
@@Outside605
I have been watching several of them. Don’t forget to return the favor and subscribe to my channel. I will be starting a build soon and most likely similar to yours. Thanks
Great job...
Thank you!!
Nice build. I’m looking at doing something like this so I can fish and stay overnight and fish the next day.
It was a fun project and it's perfect for extended fishing trips. That's honestly why I built mine. Enjoy!
best of the best,sir.Thankyou
Thank you!
well done sir!
Thanks for watching 👍🏻
