    Definitely the experience of opening a premium packaged product is the thing that does it for me. I'll also feel like the packaging can reflect how much pride the manufacturer has in their product!

    Good video and I like the topic of conversation. I think having a good box is part of the experience. I have a whole routine. Grab a beer, my box knife and sit down with some music on. Lightly cut the tape off. Gently breath in that new toy smell, admire the box a little bit then destroy it before my brain says to keep it. I do however love neca ultimate packaging, not the clam shell but the box itself I find to be pretty awesome. I feel like it's the company saying that they took some pride into making the item you bought.

    So glad you guys mentioned XTBs terrible boxes. My Andras box disintegrated while I was opening it and my Eligos didn’t hold out much longer. Shame really because the products were nice and the art was great.

    I recently destroyed all my boxes for sideshow/hot toys...about 10+ years worth because I noticed mold spores had formed in some of the boxes(gets humid here). It was painful at first, but actually felt good to get rid of all that useless stuff when all's said and done.

    I do enjoy me some new FT smell out of the box. I enjoy the art on a box most of all. I was lucky enough to get my Mass Toys Skiff signed by the artist! Great work Mac! And i dig the mentioned puzzles by toy world and generation toys. Some of those Warbotron sleeves were tighter than a frog's ass in the winter time to pull off! But agree with Jisk, great packaging. What i hate is the excessive use of twist ties in a clam shell. Its not going to go anywhere, one or two will suffice. And there is the pop goes the weasel effect from Marvel legends! Weapons and crap all over the place when the figure finally pops out and shoots across the room! Great and entertaining video good sir!

    I buy doubles, triples, and sometimes up to 7 (Fanstoys Hydra) of the same character from the same company. I keep one box per character and sell the rest. As far as all the extra accessories, I try to stuff them all into the one box I’m keeping. I like to have a box for each character to resort to if I ever need to, otherwise the others go bye bye. If I kept them all I’d have already been out of storage room. Lol

    I love the planet X packaging also because of the foam they use.

  • @b.l.8755
    @b.l.8755 Před 4 lety

    I think a thick brown cardboard box with some nice back art on it is great - because this shit is destined to be disposed of, and that could actually be recycled properly. I'd even like if they started using cardboard inside the box to actually support the figure, because the plastic tray is non-renewable, and styrophoam is non-recyclable.

  • @chojinacd
    @chojinacd Před 4 lety

    Haha, not much arguments concerning the environment. The preferred packaging is the hot toys Dx line: a sturdy box, with a card of some sort, great art, and foam. The in er works of the box are really a part of the experience. I throw away all my transformer boxes instantly, but the box of my dx12 is literally the reason that i always stop myself from selling him 😂. As for transformer boxes, to me environmental reason outway the value of my experience, because you're right, after it's opened the first time, there s no more experience to be had there, so i don't care much for it. The gt foam was nice indeed, but i couldn't care less 😅

  • @Suazman2

    In KFC’s defense, my Wreck-Gar aka CrashHog has nice packaging. Sadly, I can’t even bring myself to throw away my SEIGE or Potp Tf packaging. But this video just helped me get over my hoarding ways... bye bye card packaging. Thanks.

  • @therealcybertronwarriors

    Great topic as usual, Bobby. Just to throw in my opinion for fun; I can’t stand FansToys packaging. It’s such a clunky experience. The plastic top helps though by making it more visually appealing. Overall, I call it the Earth killer packaging. As for ThreeZero and Flame Toys, the box is nice, but the plastic inside is so flimsy that it makes it difficult to put it back into the box. I would love to see a more Earth-friendly, Apple-like packaging. But I’m sure it’s more expensive - that both the company and consumer wouldn’t want to pay more. Oh well.

    I agree about Apple packaging. Not the biggest fan of a lot of their products, but damn, they really know how to present them.
    My only concern about packaging is its sturdiness. I want to be confident the product will be undamaged. I keep my masterpiece/3p masterpiece boxes. If my wife and I decide to move, I want those original boxes for moving purposes.

    I wish more companies would make shittier boxes, for one I think it would make the overall thing just cheaper and more importantly it would make throwing away the damn box so much easier. I can't tell you how many boxes I have just cause they look nice, makes it impossible to get rid of them.

    Damn this is a good show. I love all of your videos man. I also agree the packaging is part of the experience. Nothing gets me more excited to get something and have an awesome experience opening the item. What I do hate though is the times when there are like 50 metal twist ties around the figure holding it to a plastic clam. Nothing frustrates me more than that. You never know which way you’re supposed to untwist. Sometimes you think you’re twisting the right way and then you realize that you’ve just been tightening it more. AHHHHHHHH!!! I just want to start pulling and breaking.shiznit. But a beautiful package that is easy and fun to open enhances the experience exponentially.

    i dont care about packaging at all except to keep the product from being damaged during shipping. if it saves money on the purchase and it comes in an unmarked box then im fine with it. if its just getting thrown away then i dont need any bells and whistle packaging and i dont collect cardboard so its going to get thrown away eventually.

    I feel like the cheaper and smaller the packaging, the less of a cost gets pushed on to the consumer. I rather them put the money into the figure than the box. I like a nice box, but the figure is what's important. The Zeta Ariel Bots are package nicely, but when you take them out they feel like the box was made out of better Quality Materials than the figs. Great video!

  • @NinjabillReviews

    For me, the packaging is a one-shot deal, you get it, you open it, and then, once you are done, ya dispose of it properly ..styrofoam, ugh, hate it, did not care when I was kid, and like Omega comes in foam, great, but now that I am older and care about these things, the impact it has on waste and the environment, styrofoam is horrible. that said, I still appreciate a toy that arrives complete and not damaged.

    Great talk, I've recently decided to get rid of all my packaging and by Christ it felt good to have that all gone but only because I bought some IKEA bookcases to actually display stuff out on.
    I do like some packaging like the Jiangxing Winged Dragon, agree on the Generation Toys and definitely foam inserts all the way over plastic clamshells.
    I also like the space it makes by not having a bunch of boxes around and it also feels like I can enjoy the product a lot more too.
