      Yes, I can imagine your "car boot sale"-style narration and music playing over the event, almost expecting one or two "parts" purchases along the way!
      I think it would fit your channel like a glove if you did this [next time around?].
      You could put something of an emphasis on to early onboard computers in old 80s execs for example, or maybe even pre-computer tech...I think it was Rolls Royce that produced this amazing Britain-wide scrolling map back in the 1920s, as well as rudimentary navigation on cassette systems.
      Alot of untapped potential for tech in old cars...

      I was having difficulty identifying a lot of those as I was an adult by then and "modern cars" were of no interest other than a means to get somewhere in comfort like a Granada or P5B. Cars from Childhood or earlier, a different story, 30's, 40's, 50's and early 60's. This is generational, young kids of today will be drooling over the EV's of childhood in 50 years.

  • @frothe42
    @frothe42 Před 2 lety +1

    So many vehicles! The range, but most importantly, the condition, were outstanding!
    The Hillman saloon you featured we received in the US as the 1971 Plymouth Cricket! The Avenger might be rare, but I believe the Cricket is even more rare! The Mitsubishi Lancer was the Dodge Colt in the US for many years, and was very popular. The Renault 11 was the Encore, with a standard 1.4 litre 4, 1.7 was optional. Right at the time of the AMC alliance with Renault, which I'm sure you know the outcome of that!
    Loved the story of the Toyota Tercel 4WD, which we also got. Heartwarming to hear that the Tercel you tried to save lives on.
    It looks like both you and Carly had a magnificent time, and thank you Sir HubNut for this presentation of exceptional vehicles, including the reshod Myrtle Matiz!

    The Lada Niva headlight wipers made me chuckle! 😁 Fond memories of growing up and seeing the first 'highend' cars get the headlight wash and wiper treatment, when a neighbour had those on their car there was envious sounds from everyone else.
    When we eventually had them on our family car my dad was like thinking he was some kind of lord or something?😯😊
    Looking back they really are chintzy and pretty much useless.

    23:01 So good to see a SAAB 99 again; my dad owned three between 1972 and 1991, all carburettor (not the fuel-injected EMS) and all with less-fancy wheeltrims. Wiping the rectangular headlight lenses was a party-trick he did sometimes demonstrate; it uses a push-pull cam mechanism to make a motion more than likely inspired by the rink action in a winter Olympics curling contest!

    The Commer van brings back memories. Especially of the day when I pulled away up hill and the twin back doors opened and the load of eggs (and person sat with them) started to slide towards the open doors! It never stopped so fast in its live.

    • @habsom1406
      @habsom1406 Před 2 lety +2

      Yeah brings back memories, my Dad had a Commer Luton van with a ten foot plastic aerial which were the rage back in the 70's along with Mickey Mouse and Pluto graphics on the front and a La Cuckooracha air horn. I recall a child running out from behind an ice cream van and my Dad stomping on the brakes, we all nearly went through the windscreen the huge van stopped instantly despite or because it had huge drum brakes on the front. That thing had a lovely cushiony ride, I think it had coil springs on the front where the equivalent transit and other commercial vans of that era tended to have leaf springs. And the wipers parked themselves just under the roof line.

    What a fantastic show! So many cars that you just don't see any more. Thanks for bringing them into our homes. So many memories. The icing on the cake for me? A Lada Niva, G reg in red! I had a Cossack back in the day, same age and colour. Right hand drive ones are now very rare. I loved it, but boy it was a thirsty old Hector! A superb video!

    fantastic video, there are some truly exceptional cars featured, my personal favourite has to be the mark 4 zodiac, i love them despite the general disapproval that seems to manifest itself whenever they are seen/mentioned, its amazing seeing some of these rarities and its a great tribute to the superb efforts of the owners, one of the best hub nut videos, thank you
