Yes! You sould also tell by the way she fought Aemond and Vhagar. Rhaenys was so much better. In the book it's written she could have defeated Vhagar in a 1 vs 1 fight but not Sunfyre and Vhagar together but in the book Vhagar fell on Meleys and Sunfyre, she was NOT ambushed. However, I do like the fact they showed Rhaenys and Meleys were the superior duo here. 2 vs 1 was just too much.
Yeah and look what the experienced Rhaenys did in this battle at the end. Sacrificed a big dragon for nothing instead of withdrawing and fighting another day.

Rhaenys and Meleys were both battle tested and have been through many fights together. Sunfyre was still pretty much a baby and aegon was probably delusional to think he stood a chance
@@nateebanksdo you know what battles Meleys and Rhaenys participated in? The show really doesn’t do the book(s) justice - would’ve loved to see more of all the dragons in action before the war tbh
@@nikkipringles I don’t know any of the battles in the book really. I just know both her and her dragon are wartime veterans while aegon and sunfyre were pretty much still kids
@@nikkipringlesnot sure about Rhaenys, but Meleys had fought in few battles against Dorne as the Targaryens sought to conquer them. But that had been a different Targaryen rider (before Rhaenys)
Meleys and Rhaenys were together for 40 years at this point. Their bond was far superior to that of Sunfyre and Aegon (although they did share a very close bond too) and especially Vhagar and Aemond. Rhaenys was by far the better dragonr rider than either of them (in fact she's one of the best dragon riders ever judging on the book). Meleys was the fastest dragon ever (probably) and Rhaenys knew exactly what to do. In the book it really was 2 vs 1 and Rhaenys came close to winning. The maester said Rhaenys had a chance vs Vhagar alone but not Vhagar and Sunfyre combined. If it were to smaller dragons Rhaenys would have won without a doubt. Ah wel..if's don't count of course :p

Rhaenys and Meleys were so badass. They were the far superior duo. It was just bad luck she had to fight 2 vs 1, with one of the two being Vhagar. Else she would have won. In the book she was not ambushed, but Vhagar fell on top of Meleys and Sunfyre. I'm still sad George wrote Rhaenys and Meleys out so early in the dance but at least he wrote her out in a 2 vs 1 battle, showing she was the superior dragon rider and warrior. Meleys and Rhaenys were together for 40 years at this point. But gosh, you want a character and actress like Rhaenys/Eve Best in your show. And a dragon like Meleys.
I think Rhaenys' dragon was called something different in the books too if I remember rightly?

@@loganpriest115 I think that’s one of the very few things they could’ve done better too. Sunfyre was known as the most beautiful dragon the worlds ever seen so he def should’ve gotten more screen time in season 1

@@Pellaeon4587That is a good point you make. Why didn’t Rhaenys get injured at all? Plot armor. You can see her dragon get enveloped by the fire but she flies off perfectly fine.
Rhaneys must have been shaken by the fact that Aemond went after his brother Aegon first and foremost. She did not expect fratricide, even among her enemies.

Armoured, fast, and strong as hell. I dont see show meleys beating vhagar but book meleys wouldve atleast took her down with her

I feel like if meleys focused dracarys on one of vhagars wings she might not have been able to take flight again after she crashed. Or if she gained altitude as they closed in vhagar couldn't keep up with the ascent speed and meleys couldve passed her, turned around and came on Aemond from above and either killed him or disabled vhagar

If he had the left side of his face burned, so it happened because of Sunfyre's bood. Not from Vhagar's fire. That explains also his armor melted on his body

Pretty sure the writers gave them Daenerys’ treatment and made them immune to fire. That wasn’t the case in the books though but honestly it makes sense because otherwise the dragon riders would just die from a single fire breath

Yes they can, but they were never engulfed. The camera always showed them dodging the beams of flame. They were near the fire, not inside it
@@GiovanniGeo this is exactly what I mean! They dodged it,, but they shoud still be red, burned with pustules. Now going in all the way in the dragon fire, that should turn you in to crisp or ashes. Not even the hair burned a little...it is the most hot thing there is!!!
I'm going to miss Rhaenys - easily my favourite female character. To see Corlys so broken was devastating.... They were probably the only normal married couple who genuinely loved each other in the whole show. 😥😥😥

Aegon is not the one responsible for this conflict. He has been forced into it by his mother. While he might not be responsible for this conflict he is the worst character in HOTD forces his own bastards to fight to the death in the fighting pits. I was rooting for Aemond to kill him as soon as he showed up.
