If ribs can be called glorious, then that's what those are. Wow. I don't know what is more impressive--those plate ribs, or the fact that you managed to pull off that cook in a white shirt without staining the heck out of it! Just an awesome cook, my friend, and thank you so much for the very generous shout out. I've loved watching you for years, and as soon as I can get my hands on some good crawfish I'm putting on a boil in your honor :)
Thanks Ry, and lol about the white shirt! It's a challenge for sure, but white sure does feel better in this dang heat! You have a awesome channel, and it's something I wanted to do for you. You deserve a ton more subscribers!
Hey I did my part! I subbed to Ry a few months ago after stumbling upon the channel by accident. Didn't know you were a big time writer too. Sweet. You're both very good at what you do.
Awesome video. I did not know what the difference between plate and back was. Now I do. I will be searching for the plate ribs. My nephew and I are excited to do this cook. Thanks Russ!
Been a fan of you and Ry for a couple of years,I’m learning. The grills are getting better ,thanks to you guys, and a shoutout to Malcom.,thanks to all you guys!🇨🇦👍🇺🇸
Excellent video. Thank you... and Thank you for mentioning RY... Iv followed him over the last year and he's everthing and more that you have mentioned about him. Its great to have seen you do the Shout out for him...And in my book, that makes you pretty special as well. Have a Great year at the pits...
Thanks for the helpful info on each rib type. I LOVE flanken ribs and never knew they are basically plate ribs cut across the bone. No wonder they're soooo good.
Awesome cook Russ! You looked really relaxed with that set it and forget it pellet smoker, lol! Im impressed with the performance of that pellet grill!
Man those all looked outstanding, Rus! The Camp Chef did nice job! Loved the shoutout to Ry too! He’s a good dude. Oh, and Great cameo from my boy Greg lol. Awesome scenes there in the middle. Love what you did with that. Now I’ll be singing your song all day again lol.
Thanks Mike! I was really impressed with what the Camp Chef did on both cooks so far. I love watching Ry, and he is overdue for some more viewers and subs. I asked Greg permission, and I'm sure he was scratching his head wondering what I was up to. In reality, I actually did walk away from the smoker over a hour at a time, and never gave it a second thought. It's going to make me lazy lol! Thanks again Mike and cheers brother!
Wow, just Wow! I've been on the fence with purchasing this grill/smoker, thanks for helping with my decision to go with having this in my backyard! Also, I've been wanting to do plate ribs but haven't been able to find them locally, thanks for mentioning Matador. I've subscribed to and subbed your channel, keep up the good work!!!
I'm really enjoying this pellet style of cooking and the CCWW is doing a great job! Matador has a big variety of meat that you just can't find anywhere and it's always good. Thanks for subbing, I sure appreciate it!
What a great explanation of the difference btwn the store bought and the dinos. I now order from a local grass fed/finished rancher that sells these babies. I'll never have to go to a BBQ place again to get the best ribs. I want you to know that I cheat with ribs. I put them in a sous vide bath on 162 f for 24 hrs., put in the fridge over night, pull them out cold and put on smoke for about an hour until warmed through. Just completely tender and smoky. I know, I'm old/lazy as hell but works for me! Thanks, again, loving you videos!
I had a real Laugh Out Loud when you popped up Greg from Ballistic BBQ on the TV. He always makes me wanna get up and cook something! I always enjoy comparisons. It would be nice to know what the price differences are, but I imagine that given they take about the same amount of time, the cost of the meat isn't as significant as the cost of your time.
Ry does have some wonderful videos!!! Glad you gave him a shout out. Dude, those ribs looked amazing for being cooked on a Pellet smoker!!! Gotta love Matador meats!!!! I like your spritz mixture too. I'm gonna have to give that a try! Cheers to ya brother Rus!!!
He really does, and he is one busy man. Thanks Troy, I was super happy with the results. Only my second time using the Woodwind, but it's pretty straight forward with good results. Matador meats are fantastic. I could never find ribs like that anywhere close to here. Cheers Troy!
I just bought a Camp Chef Woodwind and followed your directions for a rack of plate ribs. They came out excellent! I used the Swine Life Mississippi Grind and Camp Chef's Charwood Charcoal Hickory pellets for three hrs. at high smoke and then wrapped them in foil for another hour. at 275' I just used beef broth for a spritz.
Hey Rus, that was an excellent cook. The beef ribs are one of our favorites. Nothing like them. Janet said she likes those better than steak, especially if you can get some with lots of marbling like those. We just had some this past weekend which turned out great also. I follow Ry already and enjoy his channel. That was a very nice shout and well deserved.
Thanks for explaining the difference. None of my butchers know what a beef plate is. I doubt they’d have any clue what 1-2-3A means. But I’ll give it a shot anyway.
Hi Rus, I discovered Ry's channel about a month ago, and you're right, he makes excellent videos! I've gave up cooking beef back ribs because there's really not enough meat to bother with, but those plate ribs look great!
Well I learn quite a lot from your videos Steve! You know your stuff when it comes to food and take some of the most amazing shots I've ever seen in food photography!
The ribs look great and the new pellet smoker works like a boss. I only can get the beef back ribs where I live. P.S. I do inject the beef back ribs with some KosmosQ Smokehouse Brisket Injection and use Head Country Marinade sauce to spritz them. You make great videos.
Hey Rus, those short ribs look fantastic. That’s my next cook. I have done them several times and they are like prime steak heaven on a stick! Also subbed with Ry. He’s really good! Thanks for sharing your gifts with the rest of us!
Another memorable vid Russ and those Beef Ribs looked phenomenal. Great shout out to "Cooking with RY". I actually subbed to his channel about a month before I subbed to yours last Summer, lol. I was researching a beginner offset smoker and he had exactly what I was looking for in the Oklahoma Joe's Highland Offset smoker and I was sold. I subbed to RY's channel and modded mine like he did it and works like a champ. Thanks for sharing and Cheers to you Russ!
Thanks William, I appreciate that! I really enjoy watching Ry and seeing what he is doing next. He does a really good job with his Highland offset! Cheers!
Those plate ribs are now on the bucket list! Man. Only beef ribs I've ever found didn't look anything like those. I need to look harder! Really nice cook, Rus.
I love it when you change up the pics in your intro. You are so awesome giving channel shoutouts. I’m subscribed to him, gotta get over there to check out his videos. Been playing catch up on watching the newer channels I recently subbed to. Those are beautiful raw, absolutely mouth watering after you smoked them. I won some of Jason’s rub, can’t wait to try it out. Thanks for sharing😃
That's actually a older intro that I've used for the last several videos. Somehow I deleted my current intro, and haven't took time to make another one, but I always did like the one in this video. Yeah, those were some beautiful plate ribs, and my God they tasted good! You will like Jason's rub! Thanks for watching Christy!
Ribs are always amazing. For the 4th, I grilled some short ribs, wagyu strip and lamp chops, all medium rare. The ribs being the cheapest were still on par with the expensive cuts. They have a very distinct flavor, very tender and juicy and the fat, if it's fresh, is amazing as well.
Wish I would’ve watched this video before I did my beef ribs this past weekend but hey they were good and yours look really good I just ate and I’m hungry again😄
Great comparison Rus. Beef ribs of any kind are hard to get in sweden, unless i order them at a special butchers. So its not often i get to cook them. I will have to now though since you made it look so good! Like the spritz too, will try that next time!
Another great cook. Those back ribs are good but they are actually a little too rich for a lot of people. And what can you say about the plate ribs except holy crap! I love the expression the first time anyone sees a big beef plate rib like that and the look of ecstasy when they get their first bite of a good one. Gonna check out Ry.
What a great presentation! I’m trying your technique this weekend. Question....all that liquid we see at the bottom of the foil after the meat Is cooked...what do you do with it? Make a gravy? Use as a dipping sauce? It’s way too good to ignore.
Russ you killed me friend ..... those two times you wrapped those meat pies and the final test see how easy it was to separate between your fingers the meat is a sign of how good it is .... Thanks for sharing that recipe very good
That's a personal opinion. Same with mine. I have done beef back ribs, they were good. But, as I said I love plate ribs. I shop Sams, Costco and Whole foods.
This just occurred to me... I've been watching your channel for so long, I have actually memorized your "smokey ribs" theme song! In regards to this cook, you did a fabulous job! Keep up the great work brother. As always.. Smoke on!
I actually decided to drop the theme song at the beginning of the new year. I've been running it on videos for quite some time now. I think it runs just a bit to long for most people, so I will see what happens. I kind of miss it though :)
@@SmokyRibsBBQ That is truly disheartening my friend. To me, your theme song is as memorable as the intro to Andy Griffith, or Mash etc and is just as much of your channel as the aforementioned. You've had it for this long, and it has grown as you have grown...why fix it if it isnt broken .
I guess I over think things sometimes, and I'm always looking for ways to improve my channel, but yeah you are right. It's taken me this far, why try to fix it if it isn't broke. Thanks, your comments really made me rethink this!
My only question with pellet smokers is, what do they glue the wood pulp or chips together with? I would love to try one other than that. Thanks for sharing!
No glue is used to make pellets. They are 100% wood. They are created by applying a lot of pressure and heat to form them and lignin within the wood acts as a natural binder. If pellets get wet, they completely come apart and turn back into sawdust
Hey Russ Those looked awesome !!!!! , Like what MR Ry said about ur White Tee, Hell I can't even drink a cup of coffee without spilling it on a white shirt .
Nice gesture giving "props" to your friend Ryne. Excellent video at a nice pacing...humor is always welcome. I love plate ribs...when I can afford them. A butcher at my local Sam's Club is on my payroll...haha...basically saves me the same rack as you prepared. I do them on my WSM, but hopefully will get a pellet grill, as I'm older than dirt and want to take naps as well. Good stuff, man.
Hi Russ nice beef ribs i loved them better than pork ribs, watching yor channel for about 2 years i think i watched every single video that you put on CZcams and also i find Ry maybe a month ago went thru his videos and subscribed straightaway he now's how to cook.Take care and hi from Australia
I don't know of any butcher shops that would carry these locally. You may be able to find them at Sam's or Costco but I normally get mine online through different meat purveyors. If you do happen to source some locally please let me know. I prefer buying locally but can't always find what I'm looking for.
I bought a pellet smoker and just cant seem to get a deep smoke flavor. Is there a trick to getting a deeper smoke flavor, it seems to have plenty of smoke it just doesn't seem to absorb in the meat very good, its very mild.
That’s typical of any pellet smoker. Some people uses a pellet smoke tube in addition to the smoke that the pellet grill is putting out. The tube will give a constant smoke where the pellet grill only produces a good smoke in between cycles at the lower end of the temperature swing
Yes they sure do Oren! I love watching Ry's videos. I just watched his new release showing the Vortex for the weber kettle. He talked me right into wanting one. I guess that's my next purchase lol! Thanks Oren, I appreciate it!
These ribs looked amazing; I don't think I have ever entered the category of cooking beef ribs but i think I will now. I also have a question for you, would you ever consider doing another video like the one you did last year with your son where you went fishing with him? It would also be cool if we saw you go hunting and you hunted and cooked deer or maybe even hare/rabbit.
Thanks Romeo! Beef ribs are so good! I'm sure we will do more fishing videos along with a clean and cook. I use to be a avid hunter but haven't hunted in over 20 years now, but I still love to fish and good at it. I never was good at hunting lol, but I know how to cook it up ;)
If ribs can be called glorious, then that's what those are. Wow. LOL "Family or no family I'm going back in for another taste!!" Awesome work! I thought I could smell those ribs through my screen...
Great job explaining the two types of ribs. Beautiful results. I actually discovered Ry before I discovered you. So much great BBQ content on CZcams!
New to pellet smoking and your channel.
Just cannot wait to do beef ribs!

Great experiment Rus thanks for posting! I like how the convection from the pellet cooker crisp the back back up on those ribs after smoking!
Thanks Joe, I appreciate you checking out the video!
Awesome cook Russ! You looked really relaxed with that set it and forget it pellet smoker, lol! Im impressed with the performance of that pellet grill!
Quite possibly the best beef rib video on all of you tube! And it's always good to watch Greg in the middle of a long afternoon!
Thanks Dan, I appreciate you checking it out
Great job, Russ! I found Ry dont too long ago as well. Just as you said. Great guy!
Keep spreading the love!
Learned so much, and I've got quite a few years under my belt, mainly about the beef back ribs, allways avoided them
great video! and the cardinal showed up for the unwrapping :) and he stuck around too haha
Thanks, Russ, I am going to do some plate ribs using your process. Thanks!
HA! Love the guest cameo by BallisticBBQ! I found Ry recently as well. Three excellent channels for some great food and tips.

Great vid! Only qualm I have is putting anything container sugars on beef, but that's personal opinion and I'm used to Texas and CA BBQ.
I've learned a lot from you thanks for your shows.

Love my short beef ribs on the Camp Chef...following Ry as well. I cooked some at 300 for about 4 hours no sprits, no wrap....yummy. Smoke level 5.
Good stuff!
LOL. That was really funny starting about the 6:07 mark.👍👍 I follow his channel too.
love your channel!
Wish I would’ve watched this video before I did my beef ribs this past weekend but hey they were good and yours look really good I just ate and I’m hungry again😄

Yes they sure do Oren! I love watching Ry's videos. I just watched his new release showing the Vortex for the weber kettle. He talked me right into wanting one. I guess that's my next purchase lol! Thanks Oren, I appreciate it!
Holy Crap Rus!!! Beef back ribs are my preference :-)
I never was good at hunting lol, but I know how to cook it up ;)
Smoky Ribs BBQ & Southern Cuisine how is the hunting situation down in Mississippi? Are there a good amount of deer, or maybe even elk?
