10:47 this is actually wrong and just a common misconception within the community based on something Welt said (“the emanators of remembrance don’t have a physical body”)
To elaborate, it’s a square and rectangle situation where every square (emanator of remembrance) is a rectangle (memokeeper) but not every rectangle is a square.
yeah, really weird hearing him say directly that Black Swan was an emanator of rememberance. She is a pathstrider, sure, but that is a LONG way from being an emanator.

@@lgbel3950her lore does state she was willing to give up her physical form though and implies that she already did but I also didn't think that meant she was an emanator either, just a Memokeeper.
I think the memokeepers ARE what they call their group of emanators of remembrance pathstridewrs and that they are ALL emanators. And constance actually asked if BS, as a memokeeper, serve the garden of recollection or the cremators so who the memokeepers serve depends on their personal interests.
Our memokeeper friend on the train for the forgotten hall has no physical form, and seems pretty low rank in the garden based on how they talk about you testing them when you ask things they aren't allowed to answer. I believe they also tell you that memokeepers in general don't have physical form, they move and travel by reading the memory of others. So not emanators but firmly attached to the path of remembrance.
Can you please PLEASE make more of this? I'm having a really hard time finding HSR recaps that are either not overedited with very annoying flashy clips and sound effects or recorded with microphone from a 2008 Nokia. I love your narration, setup simplicity, crispy mic setting, and you speak so well that it's easily digestible for an ESL like me. Please like you're my last hope into deeply understanding more of the lore kdjdgasd

Looking forward to this, especially the Xianzhou arc. Jarilo was pretty compact and straightforward, perhaps because it was pretty much complete by the release and only expanded upon later with Topaz. But Xianzhou was kinda all over the place and not as interesting to follow (like wtf was that errand running as a part of the main story?), so a recap would be highly appreciated @SipSipStefen
16:20 I don’t think Nous becoming an Aeon is as suspicious as you think. I understand that the idea of a god being made by someone who isn’t a god doesn’t make logical sense, but you have to remember that Aeons achieve godhood by fully exploring a Path, which for Nous is Erudition, aka knowledge. The whole point of supercomputers is to process information faster than humans, so the idea that Nous could fully comprehend the Path of Erudition where THEIR creator could not makes sense.
How 'simple' it seems for Nous to become an Aeon isn't even that weird in universe, with Aha understanding how tragedy and comedy are interwined, and how Ouroboros is just the last Leviathan left in the universe, or Terminus who (as far as we know) was just the last survivor of the universe and now experience time backward.
I think Nous is also based on the computer from The Hitchhikers Guide to Galaxy, whose purpose was to find the answer to “life, the universe, and everything”, which was also created by people

About the Opening Cinematic and "Canon in D" being played. The piece is also associated with Neon Genesis Evangelion, which has been a heavy influence on Honkai Impact 3rd. Which, in turn, is something of Honkai Star Rail's predecessor. Starting the game with that music track is a multi-layered reference.
Plus, Honkai Impact 3rd also used the same piece as the ending music for HI3's main storyline for part 1

25:35 Kafka wasn't recuited forst as in her character story, Elio tells someone (who I think is Sam) how to recuit Kafka. Kafka then recruited Blade, and Sliver Wolf was recruited last.

1:20:54 i'm not so sure about that, since when March 7th tells us her story she mentions another person that was present when she was rescued, but she doesn't remember who they were. That makes me wonder if that person was Void Archives, another past Astral Express member that we don't know anything about, or maybe the Garden of Recollection messenger.
Isn't Void Archives not-Otto also known as Luocha (or Ayato in Genshin)?
@@meneldalit very well may be possible that there are two of them in Star Rail's world now. That is, Void Archives being from Welt's world and Luocha being from Star Rail's world
@@meneldal i don't know much about Honkai lore but as @bigpoof3349, it's possible that there are more than one version in Star Rail universe, since we know Void Archives came from Welt's universe, but we also have another case of two versions of the same character already existing which are Bronya and Silver Wolf, so inside this universe is possible as well
@curkinho AFAIK the whole muliverse thing is an issue of lost in translation, it wasn't multiple "universes" in the original chinese, but multiple "planets". So there being more than one Otto/Luocha running around is more of a certainty. Like you said, both Bronya and SW exist in the same universe but are from different planets, and likewise Mei, Raiden Mei, and Acheron exist in the same universe but different planets.
Unless Hoyoverse does actuallycome out and say it's different universe, in which case ignore me 😅
@@Dadan-dan the main reason I would believe it's a different universe is that, within Star Rail, the express and quite a few other factions are actively travelling the galaxy and going to different planets like it's nothing. For them to have this huge of a society with such vast history and lore and yet mention nothing about anything relating to Honkai or Herrschers seems a little absurd
I always felt that Ruan Mei's paranoia came from how Genius Society members were quietly being killed off. Probably by Polka.
As a result, a lot of the Genius Society members have a bit of paranoia and reclusiveness to themselves. At least the ones still alive.
Stephon, super recluse. Never see the guy. Makes it hard for Polka to get to him.
Herta, hides her real self and only really interacts with others through puppets. Hard for Polka to get to as well.
Ruan Mei. She's like a ghost, because she rarely makes appearances, and when she does, she drugs people into forgetting about it. As a result, no real trail for Polka to follow.
Screwllum is harder to figure out why he's alive. Maybe it's because he owns his own planet? Maybe if you kill Screwllum, he just downloads into another body? Not sure, but he's probably somewhat difficult to assassinate as well.
I just feel like, as a theory, that the Genius Society members that are still alive, are due to their difficulty in being killed for Polka.
Doesn't Herta actively shoutout Polka twice though? Like, she genuinely wants to meet her.

55:40 Ruan Mei honestly was one of the more annoying characters in star rail, i hate being jerked around and felt like i’m being taken advantage of and she provided that in spades
To be exact on the list of crimes you attributed to Kafka, those are actually attributed to the Stellaron Hunters as a whole. For example, the cyber attacks were probably Silver Wolf's doing. If Kafka could perform cyber attacks against Planet Screwllum, they wouldn't need Silver Wolf.

46:38 i always interpreted the interlude placement as being collected by location rather than strict time though, since lots of quests and on HSS in particular imply you are coming back after being away for indeterminate amount of time. like arlan making you cosmic fried rice i thought he was celebrating seeing you again

To comment for clarity we do know through dialogue the extent of Elios power and it is emanator to aeon level, let's review.

Now it's important to really understand the implications of this sentence, as kafka said Elio 'Always' tells 'the' 'exact' future. So we know Elio's predictions are never wrong and are very specific down to the exact time and we know from how it's worded he doesn't see A future he can see THE future. (while not entirely accurate with a later note it's still important)

Well from this we know that once a future is set in motion according to the script, well... You cannot defy aka deviate from it as fate or destiny won't allow it this is also likely why Elio refers to himself as "destiny's slave"

Ok so first off "in 'most' futures" very important now we know Elio doesn't see A future or THE future, no no no no no Elio sees ALL futures possible meaning the future path Elio chose the one we're on in the cannon story is one where destiny doesn't 'end' at Nanook.
From these lines alone we can tell that Elio and the Trailblazer are the only ones able to set a course to defy 'destiny', hmm? oh yeah you're wondering why I said the trailblazer too I see well though I wont mention every instance of which it's referenced I will say one where in the beginning if you say you don't like your future Elio foresaw then kafka mentions the reply is 'unexpected'; Little strange don't you think? A man so meticulous in his script he will note the time of events down to the second would leave out a mention of the response, well he didn't because he didn't foresee it happening because as another who can defy 'destiny' Elio can't predict all futures of the Trailblazer.
Anyway let's get back on track here so Elio can see (excluding some specifically with the Trailblazer) ALL futures even how certain decisions will change those futures and out of the (contextually) millions of possibilities only one led to destiny not ending in the moment of the Trailblazer's inevitable face off against Nanook. One future where the only one that can doom it or make it happen with certainty is the Trailblazer aka you the player.

To my knowledge, the idea behind the simulated universe is that it’s simulated. They found out how the universe started, then let the simulation run until today, and assuming they did it perfectly, the aeons inside the simulations should be identical to the real ones.
44:00 my memory isn't the best, but I think I recall Herta mentioning that these aren't AI recreations of the Aeon persay, but instead almost like vessels or something that the Real life Aeons are able to project their mind or prescence into in order to interact with us. That's why she says we still need to try and attract the attention of the Aeons since they need to project themselves into the simulated universe to interact with us while we are pretending to be Akavili. I might be off on some of it, but the topic of Aeons is super interesting to me so the memory stands out.
You most definitely cooked with this one, absolutely love the summary of the story!
If I remember correctly, Ruan Mei tells you why she drags you to the meeting, and then kicks you out. She thought Herta might have found out about her secret experiment, and wanted us to back her up. But when she realized meeting wasn't about that, she wanted us to clean up her mess while they were distracted.
As for Pamela, there's an earlier quest where we do trade Himeko pics. So yeah, not first time.
Also Sserkal is a spider who lived 29 days. Just thought it was cool.
As for Ratio, he did reroute the teleport destination of the kidnapped researchers. Ifrit planned to just leave them outside an airlock so they'd die. Ratio instead put them somewhere safe. And Ratio might not consider being mediocre a diss. His core belief is that ignorance is a disease, which we should work to cure. I get the feeling that he likes the mediocre who struggle to better themselves. Part of the reason for the test was that he thought the station was too reverent of the Geniuses.
If I remember right, Dan Heng did meet Void Archives. Also, part of reason why Welt joined Astral Express is that his world also had a version of Himeko, who was his student... who died...
as a huge lore nerd; i LOVE this. i can't wait for the next few parts. i will be watching (and possibly rewatching) when the next few come out!
one of my personal canon storylines is us the main character being a past version of Ellio, so Ellio knows whats gonna happen cause they ware there while it happend as the trailblazer, so a self fulfilling prophecy in some sense and thats why he can write a script for what happens, tho people have found evidence against that theory, but that does not mean i want it any less xD also seen posts that march in her former life before she was locked in ice could be the aeon of remembrance Fuli as they dissapeared, which would make sense with march memory loss and her taking pictures to remember stuff and being ice type, as the remembrance path in the simulated universe is also focused on ice, have also seen similar theories for march being Idrila the aeon of beauty for the same reasons as she dissapeared aswell, and they turn it around a bit, so instead of her taking pictures to remember, she takes them because she finds herself beautiful, notice how 9/10 times she takes selfies and always describes herself as "cure" and such, I just find all of this really interesting

in HI3 Part 2 we actually see something similar being used by Coralie and Helia, where they have a device to automatically translate between languages so they can communicate with the Dreemseeker (MC), Senadia etc.

One suggestion I have (who knows, maybe one more add to your long list of lore walls) is Bloodborne. A game from the same makers as Elden Ring. Not only is Bloodborne lore heavy but also very interesting and would be cool to see as what your interpretation is. Miyazaki (the maker of all these games) loves to keep the endings kinda open, leaving it to the imagination of the player on what is happening.

fun fact the reason pluto isn't considered a planet is just because it hasnt cleared its "celestial neighborhood", not really its size
