For those who are interested in how the 3 specs compare to each other:
Survival is going to be the fastest leveling spec overall, if played well. AoE/cleave is generally the quickest way to kill mobs, and Survival has the strongest AoE and multi-target capabilities thanks to its traps and Serpent Spread. This also means it's the best spec for dungeons, where AoE is much more important than single-target. However, it often feels focus-starved while leveling because your focus generation is the slowest of the 3 specs, and Explosive Shot is very expensive, which means you will not always be able to use it on cooldown. (This is why you want to stack haste, as Meta said - haste increases your passive focus regeneration and Steady/Cobra shot cast time.) You depend very much on your traps to deal damage and trigger Lock and Load. I'd recommend you play Survival if you want to spam dungeons to level, or you want to devote yourself to AoE/cleave for solo content, killing multiple mobs simultaneously as much as possible, because this spec is not great at chain-killing enemies one-by-one. From personal experience I can say that Survival doesn't feel as good to play before you get 2/2 Lock and Load, so I would start with BM or MM and respec to Survival at level 32.
Beast Mastery is the "easymode" spec, but it's also the highest APM spec. BM has the best passive focus regeneration through talents and cheap spenders, so it often uses more focus spenders than builders. This results in a simple but satisfyingly active playstyle. It also has the best mobility and can deal a lot of damage while moving. Plus, BM has the Pathfinding talent which increases your speed while mounted and while using Cheetah; this talent is often underestimated in how much it increases your leveling speed. However, BM has the worst AoE/cleave damage out of the 3 specs. Also, your damage profile is more oriented towards sustained damage rather than burst, which is a slight disadvantage while leveling. You have to manage your pet more actively because your pet is a much larger source of your damage compared to the other specs. All that being said, you're still a hunter, and hunter is OP for leveling, so you will definitely not be slow!
Marksmanship is a bursty spec that puts a lot of punch into its powerful shots. This spec is at its best from level 51 when it gets the Rapid Recuperation talent, which (in combination with Rapid Killing) gives you 50 Focus whenever you kill an enemy. This makes MM by far the best at chain-killing single targets. However, it's still quite strong even before that - with heirlooms, you can often literally one-shot mobs with Aimed Shot thanks to the Careful Aim talent (this and Piercing Shots is why MM prefers crit over haste). MM also has decent cleave damage with cheap Multi-Shots, and isn't as reliant on traps. Its single-target damage remains its strongest suit though. Readiness is another amazing talent which allows you to reset all of your cooldowns, which means MM has absolutely brutal burst damage and is easily the best hunter spec for world PVP. It also has access to a ranged silence/interrupt and better CC than the other specs.

I will never understand the obsession with the fastest leveling. Ok, so you hit lvl 85 in 1 day, I did it in 4 days. What exactly do you think you gained? we'll still have the same gear and ilvl at the end of the patch. There's no prize for doing it on turbo speed.

@@Ballacha what I'm seeing lately is that people focus more on efficency and less on enjoyment. What was the reason again we play video games? As I sad, do you get a prize for speed leveling against someone who does is in 3 days rather than 1 day? And the same players bitch 3 months later they have nothing to do.
