"Grapes worse than candy." oh my
You’re looking lean, Layne. You must be staying away from all of that evil fruit😂
Fruit of the loom
😂😂😂😂
All I hear is Coach Greg going nuts over the fruit silliness before I even start watching the video 😂😂😂
"because it has fructose in it, isn't it?. BECAUSE PEOPLE BECOME OBESE FROM EATING APPLE, ARE YOU CRAZY?"
My Doctor 2020.
FRUKTOCE!!??
with a little Skinny Pop on the side
My dad tried to tell me an apple is the equivalent of a snickers bar - he is an MD by the way and follows Keto - and I was like, "dude, how can you believe that shit as a doctor."
Yes...try to gain weight from just eating apple every day 😂
WHOA
Keep in mind that Gundry tells people to drink a minimum of 9+ tablespoons of olive oil a day (1 liter/litre per week) and owns an olive oil business. Conflict of interest much?!
Whaaaaaaaat
That’s gross
@@tracylynnaz9066 some cultures do take olive oil, but not the amount Gundry recommends
Apparently yes there are people who are selling olive oils that are saying the ones in grocery stores are mostly fake olive oils to get people buy there's.
1000 calorie surplus a day, great for bulking.
You’ve inspired me to take up a nutrition degree, Layne. Starting in 2021 when the world is going to be somewhat normal again.
ItWasALLaDREAM We hope 😬
I hate to break it to you but...
Still nope and its 2022, almost 23
This did not age well
LMAO "normal" no, it got stupider
when people complain about fructose in fruits, my doctor yells loud.
Old Coach Aflac
He's also my doctor.
🤣🤣🤣
Gundry’s Pedantry always leads to one of his lengthy marketing videos which ultimately concludes with his proprietary brand products you need to buy.
There are a lot of videos on CZcams about the evil of fruit. Could keep Layne busy correcting them all.
Since changing to eating mostly meat and fruit, my training has been great and I've felt great overall, got leaner and consistently getting stronger. And the best part is it's like having desert with every meal and my only real craving is for more fruit but it's incredibly easy to autoregulate consumption because it's actually filling. After a certain point of reading research on phytonutrients, my opionion is that there's really no good excuse to not eat fruit.
I look so forward to your videos!! It’s a shame how many people do not understand the basics of nutrition and listen to people like Gundry for advice 😫 Have a great week!!
I needed to hear this from someone who really knows his stuff. Thanks Dr. Norton!!!
Without calorie surplus fructose is converted into glucose in liver (and to lactate in splanchnic organs during exercise) and is immediately used as energy source or stored as liver glycogen. It is also very difficult to overeat and unlikely to cause chronic overeating behaviors when consumed from natural sources. All I see is benefits, not threats.
Not sure I fully agree. I noticed with myself that after eating a whole mango, I get a major dip in energy which is accompanied with a feeling like I need to “rescue” my energy levels by eating more. This does not happen with smaller amounts or lower sugar fruit like berries.
@@Seanonyoutube Maybe this is how your body responds to certain fruits. Mango ratio of sucrose/glucose to fructose is 2.8:1. For blackberries it's close to 1:1.2. Blackberries have more fructose... Another thing, blackberries have a lot more fiber (5x more). Of course, the total quantity of calories and glycemic load matter too.
@@michwoz with the actual amounts I was describing above (a whole mango at once vs a small handful of berries) I was in practice getting about 30g of fructose from the mango vs about 5g from the berries. There is a temporary drop in ATP after eating >5g of fructose due to the way in which fructose is metabolized, and it’s a dose dependent effect. You can learn about it on Peter Attia’s recent interview with Rick Johnson (titled “how fructose drives metabolic disease) where they go over the mechanism in depth.
Absolutely love your very direct approach -and delivery! - and your calling out bs big time. Having struggled with an ed myself for many years and having experienced first hand the utter confusion and despair created by such scammers in an already confused and scared mind of an ed sufferer, i'd love to have them all sent to your nutrition&training bootcamp to get their asses kicked hard, and then make them follow their own advice under the scrutiny of a HUMAN RANDOMIZED CONTROLLED TRIAL. Thank you dr Norton. I wish there were more wisdom in our media now. Eating disorders are torture and they are deadly.
What the fitness is the best way to finish the work week 🤣
You’re looking jacked and strong, Layne. Keep at it.
Layne you the man, keep up the great content!
This shows the two main problems with the internet …
No quality control on what people can say/claim
The people telling the truth don’t get attention
… but keep at it Layne. We need you doing this.
Thanks, Layne. Balance is so much more better than extremism. I don't always agree with you, but I always appreciate you. I like when you take scammers to task.
As always, great stuff!
Lol yep so lets just give up an entire food group that’s beneficial to our health 🙈
The typical keto argument. They state that the human race only ate meat and fat which is bs. They ate whatever whatever they could get their paws on or they would starve.
I can picture a caveman getting ready to eat a banana because they couldn’t score any meat. The other cavemen are yelling at him that he will not remain in ketosis and he will get fat.
People are fat today for two simple reasons. 1 to many calories 2 not enough activity.
@@davidpeters7447 ima be a prick.
They probably wouldn't eat a banana back then, our modern day bananas are result of GMO. A banana as its naturally are awful.
@@RobRIPDG :))) tru, but I will bet they did not have keto chocolate chips with artificial sweeteners. Also, we live a.lot longer than they used to (modern medicine, not being chased by tiger etc). Why do we keep comparing?
Thank you for giving permission to enjoy fruit!
Love this series! Always good to use clueless people being destroyed by facts
Thank YOU for always calling out the bullshitters!! Btw Carbon is amazing!! 💪🏼
I have watched family members get sucked into the Gundry cult. It is so sad to see because my family members just want to be healthy and do the right thing. They have literally changed what they grown in their garden and stopped eating some of their favorite foods because of the "evil" lectins.
Thanks for all you do!
Thank you for your input Layne
Also, great points on fructose. Sugar/fructose has been so maligned, it is ridiculous. Most people who are quick to point fingers at fructose do not really understand what "nutritionally balanced diet" really means.
Love your commentary. Natural fruit has been a food source for millions of years and then come's jonny come lately stating its bad for you.
I love your videos and I love your honesty
Eyeballs!👀😂 Thanks for doing this video. Dr. G has been creeping around my CZcamss for a while and I couldn’t wait to find out what he was all about. As much as I hate to say it, much like cult leaders, these guys (or girls) always manage to entrap those of us who, in a moment of weakness, want THE ultimate answer provided to us without having to use discernment. I really appreciate your input and always look forward to your videos (and bought your sh**).
Very good one, anyone who says to avoid fruit should not be a health practitioner. Very dangerous advise indeed!!
Biolayne killed it all !!! 💪💪💣
Fell out of my chair when he screamed " Fructose is lethal for your mitochondria ??!! " 🤣🤣🤣
Absolute hilarious!!!😂
Fantastic video!
This was a good one! 😎
Layne... YOU seriously are AWESOME. Your extensive knowledge is incredible... and I love how you destroy the ridiculous claims made by people like Dr. Gundry.
Haha that Kevin Hart bit in the 40 yr old virgin is the best part of the movie! Love ya Layne.
Loved this episode 😂!
This is great. I feel smarter than an actual doctor.
I don’t know what we’d do without Layne.
You deserve more views
I don't recall when but after watching many health videos I had gotten the notion to stop/avoid eating fruit thinking its sugar was going to add to my weight gain...what a shame I've been acting on the wrong idea this whole time
Great job... We need to expose these charlatans.
This makes the dude who eats all that raw shit seem normal.
@@annainna767 please forgive me. 🙏but the dude I was referencing was out there though. You do you.
Do you think raw shit, as in actual shit, fits better in the high carb or high fat diet?
Great video, thank you.
Layne, please debate and destroy these gurus in live shows. I cannot tell how much i hate them and i am not even close to any expertism. It's amazing how calm you can stay..
I am watching the video, eating melon and murdering my mitochondria 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Kiwi here 😂
Weird how I eat .5-1.5 bananas and 140-420 grams of strawberries a day with protein smoothies and have lost tons of weight
Yeah u think u r healthy...but did u check your mitochondria? 😂😂😂
@@zdenkanc3305 Blood pressure fell from stage 1 hypertension on meds to normal blood pressure off meds, but now I have to worry about mitochondria???!!!1
@@preslove yeah...cos Doc said so on TV 😉
I bet it's because all your mitochondria are dead!
Thats all mitochondria weight
Commenting for the algorithm. Sadly, there is now a tremendous vacuum in this industry due to the passing of Mr. Meadows and I hope content like this will fill the gap.
I wonder if gundry actually believes what he’s saying?! His ignorance is so maddening yet because he is a “doctor” people believe him. We need more Laynes! 💪
Oh wow, as soon as Gundry started talking about apples 🤯
Well said ✌️
Ah, brilliant. Instead of saying I have too much fat I shall say,
"I HAVE ENERGY
GOT A LOT OF ENERGY
ENERGY THAT'S STORED WITHIN MY TUMMY
AND MY ARMS YOU SEE"
Ah yes, podunk West Virginia, I know it well lol
God bless you!
Hahahahaha in his Plant paradox book Quest protein bars are included in his food recommendations
The only problems with fructose occur when glycogen stores are full. The context is very important in these discussions.
Great video! What would these videos look like if you didn't cut every so often?
Priceless 🤣🤣🤣
I’ll give him a couple of points:
- The apples I buy at the store are huge, about 2 USDA servings (250+ grams vs. 138g). That’s why you weigh stuff. But also in his childhood reminiscence he’s picturing what we call “lunchbox” apples, which you can still buy.
- Fruit juice isn’t nearly as healthy as whole fruit.
- Chain store smoothies are often loaded with added sugar.
The simple-but-not-always-easy solution to all of these: don’t just eat mindlessly. Read labels and make conscious choices.
I was worried when I saw the title of this video, but I'm so glad to see you are talking sense. I'll have to watch all of your videos now. I keep telling people that Gundry is an idiot (and his marketing is horrible), but they don't seem to listen.
Bahaha!! I can’t stop eating grapes!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for this video. It's confusing to hear all these doctors saying crazy things like fruits and vegetables are horrible to eat.
Omgggg I lost it when he said "fucking idiot can sub in for greatness" Hahaha
Oh my goodness... I just had a cup of berries and an apple 😱 I've broken myself!
Hahahaha such a good burn😂😂😂😂
Well I mean, he was helpful for the world learning about or realizing at least the damage of lectin polypeptides.
I tell that to a lot of people, don't let "no added sugar" fool you check the sugar on the back, since juices will have quite a bit
but all in all avoid juices cause they're just not as good as eating the fruit itself.
8:36 thus concludes the most savage debate challenge of all time.
Here here lol. “Doctor” Gundry won’t accept the challenge, I’m guessing.
You made me laugh so much just from you insulting him😂😂😂
I eat 1kg of grapes a day MINIMUM
And you r still alive???? U definitelly should see a Doctor...😂😂😂
Me at 50. ibb.co/1RqgFS8
Fruit is not the enemy. Being too sedentary and eating processed food is.
Glad someone called Gundry out.
You are really giving it to him😂😂💪💪 he deserves it as well✊
Thanks bru
Can you do a collab with Coach Greg? I see your comments on there. You two would be hilarious together lol 😆
Yes please. Agreed
@@deanstephens3163 Also, please..
Doc Norton, doing what he does best. Roasting bullshitters in all things regarding nutritional fallacies. I'm proud of you Layne, keep doing what you do. SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT. (as usual). #Real Science Does Not Lie
I use to see Gundry's youtube commercial and always skipped them
The fact that scammers like Gundry are not jailed is INSANE
Hey Layne serious question here. What do you think of someone consuming honey as their only source of carbohydrates? Would this be detrimental for muscle building purposes?
We meet again..... IS IT GONE LAYNE ?
Wow I had a cup of strawberries half a cup of blueberries and a nice sweet peach today!
This video is hilarious :D
I knew I should eat chips only!
Damn these apples...fking mitochondria killers...
This was one of my favorite biolayne Takedowns.
Gundry is a charlatan a******
Koreans eat tons of carbs INCLUDING FRUIT. We are doing great. Care to explain that 🤷♂️
The doctor is a moron
Prob why Koreans are fat...
@@kevinhan721 Are they? And compared to what?
@@Cam-sl8ve okay, I was half joking. But yah I agree with OP that we do eat a lot of carb (rice and noodle) and fruits compared to US or UK. I have no data to back up if you asked me but I'm just talking from my personal experience living in the US and Korea
@@kevinhan721 I bet Koreans aren't as fat as people from UK or US, or Mexico for that matter! But any country that becomes prosperous tends to get more overweight, generally speaking.
Thanks for this fact-checking work man
Literally just had some raspberries before watching this. All my mitochondria are now confirmed dead.
f
How can you do that to your body!!!!!! 😆😜
f
Rip the powerhouse of the cell!
Yep I think I've genocided my mitochondria hundreds of times already.
Lol, you are going to love 'low carb down under'
Okay .. I just downed some durian. Hopefully gonna wake up with 6-pack tomorrow.
Please do a video on Liver King lol
i'd pay big money to watch that debate lol.
Great takedown, what an absolute quack, I'd like to read his book just to see what absolute whoppers are inside it
Layne you need to hammer this point away more often. People say fructose can only be stored in liver glycogen, and you mentioned that while this is true nevertheless liver glycogen can be released to be used in muscle and/or for muscle glycogen. But I think it is even more than that: fructose can be *directly* converted to glucose, in fact most of it is, and indeed, when the liver is full, all remaining excess fructose is converted to glucose and sent to muscle.
Yeah, that was the best thing I learned from this video. And the detail you added, I also didn't know.
One would think I know this after 25 years on a high-fruit diet. But the thing is... I really didn't need to know. I can tell.
You're correct. There are MULTIPLE pathways by which fructose can eventually yield muscle glycogen. It can be converted to muscle glycogen via: glucose, alanine, aspartate, lactic acid, and a few other non-essential amino acids.
Ken berry also is fruit phobic
There's so much bullshit out there. It's a relief to see someone, who actually knows what he's talking about, calling it out.
Hey Doc, would you consider honey "okay"? Should I be worried about a higher fructose content? lol
Honey, crisp is amazing. I'm so glad i stopped doing the carnivore thing. It didn't work for me long term.
You should do some type of video with Greg Doucette. You seem to agree on almost everything when it comes to dieting.
Entertainer vs scientist
I grew up on a farm and he is right about the size. But most fruits and veggies are altered.
The small apples hes talking about are crab apples and they arent edible lol. This 'dr' is hilarious :) the way that other guy laughs at him when hes saying fruit is so bad kinda makes me think he doesnt believe him lol
Sadly, while a great surgeon, Gundry is a nutrition quack. Whole fruit is mostly water in a solid cellular fiber rich matrix. Sugar is a small fraction of fruit vs the fullness you get per bite. And per calorie, most fruit has high fiber. Even low fiber fruit, like grapes, are still mostly water (300 cal per pound of food) and high in vascular friendly, blood pressure lowering potassium. Don’t pay attention to Gundry. Pay attention to Layne.
