Damien's Dinner Time is like "Chicago Made" Punk, something made up a long time after the acronym was used.
Fun fact: Punk admitted in court and under oath that it stood for Chick Magnet
Centimetre Punk
It is actually Chick Magnet
@@SoWafflesWe knew it was 'Chick magnet' way before that, as that was his old ring name.
@@TequilaToothpickI'm aware. It was likely, but he kept giving different answers as to what it stood for up to that point.
Couple things
1. DDT is NOT named after Damian, thats an internet rumor that spread around. Its named after the pesticide.
2. Jerry Lawler got his "King" moniker in Memphis. Never won King Of The Ring
3. Kurt Angle won the 2000 King Of The Ring
4. Edge won the 2001 King Of The Ring
5. KOTR was a yearly thing from its creation in 1985 until 2002 (After that it was basically whenever they felt like it)
The king of the ring wasn't yearly from it's creation. It was still some years where it wasn't taking place in the 90s.
Jerry Lawler was the King of Memphis, nothing to do with KotR tournament.
Also, the DDT was NOT named after Damien, it was named after a highly dangerous chemical pesticide that was being banned when Jake was trying to think of a name and he saw an article in the paper about DDT.
Yeah he won a CWA Lord of The Ring in '88 (Just a little fun fact) but never a KING Of The Ring.
No biggie about KotR 96, it was only the birth of one of the biggest draws and one of the biggest catchphrases in wrestling history
To be fair most think his 3:16 promo catapulted Austin to the top of the card but it was moreso his match with Bret Hart at WM13 that made him Stone Cold Steve Austin and obviously WM he won the WWF title. It did take a while to properly get underway
@@jameslambert5198 Yeah, I lived through it so I remember. He didn't become the superstar that he did until later than KotR but KotR got the ball rolling
2 of the biggest. Austin 3:16 AND 'That's the bottom line...' came from that one promo.
…. Some of y’all really tricked John into believing DDT stands for “Damien’s Dinner Time?”😂😂😂 y’all.
It stands for Dichloro-Diphenyl-Trichloroethane. It’s a pesticide. A poison.
Yeah no wonder the announcers went with shortening it to DDT. I can't even pronounce that.
@@judahofjudea4601 Yes, the Jake also invented the poison he named his move after and was the one that decided to shorten it to DDT… dude, really?
The pesticide was already called DDT. That’s why it was shortened to DDT
right ? its a poison aka venomous aka what snakes use
While the move was named after the poison, it didn't actually stand for anything. When Jake was asked what it stood for back in the day, he said it stood for "The End".
It does stand for Damien's Dinner Time when talking about the wrestling move
Austin 3:16 came from King of the Ring 96. Jake Roberts was doing a born again redemption gimmick, getting super into Christianity and turning from his old lifestyle. So Jake quoted the Bible a bunch during that run (which didn't really go much further than KotR 96), which is why Stone Cold said, "You sit there, and you thump your Bible, and you say your prayers, and it didn't get you anywhere. Talk about your Psalms, talk about John 3:16, AUSTIN 3:16 SAYS I JUST WHIPPED YOUR ASS!"
One of the most iconic lines in WWE history 🔥🔥
Damien's dinner type is an obvious joke and it's funny to me that John fell for that
Yeah, he's so young and gullible.
@@jamesreece9502 Maybe not young
It was a rumored name, but never confirmed
He’s like 28
@@dav1d1400 Exactly, I'm 48, so he's young.
It's not Damien's Dinner Time, DDT is a highly dangerous pesticide that was banned and Jake saw an article in the newspaper about it when he was thinking what to name his finisher and he thought "That's badass."
Brock vs Test in the semi-finals of the 2002 KOTR is such an underrated banger that no-one really talks about. Worth going back to watch. Just two big monsters beating the crap out of each other.
Dude Test was a beast of a wrestler. It's a shame he died so young and is rarely talked about
@@zeospark9715idk according to Bill Simmons, Test still has one good run left in him
RIP Test
4:45 Dante stopping himself from saying “I’m killing myself” 😭😭😭
Good catch I thought that’s what he was bout to say but I wasn’t sure
Drink a shot everytime Sophie says "alrighty" haha
x_X
To answer an earlier question: yeah Kurt Angle has won a KotR tournament. It was in 2000
Jake Roberts being Austin's opponent in the KOTR final was the reason we got the famous Austin 3:16 line.
Austin went to hospital after his prelim match, when he got back to the arena (just before the final match) he asked who he was facing and what they had said. Jake was reading bible verses in his promos at the time and had quoted John 3:16
Jake was on a bible kick. When Austin won that’s why he said arguably the biggest line in wrestling history “you thump your bible, talk about your psalms 3:16, Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass”. Y’all miss some of the biggest moments consistently lol
Jakes DDT is not what they told you its named after the chemical DDT and the way he got the move is because he was wrestling in I can't remember the territory and he had his head locked in the DDT position and he slipped and he landed the DDT
This is correct
Bret and Owen were feuding during 1993 and 1994, with the feud ending at their Summerslam 94 cage match. Bret won KoR in 91 and 93, with Owen winning in 94 and declaring himself the "King of Harts".
John did all that laughing the first 5 questions just to lose 😂
Actually as a kid I heard it was Damien Death Trap. Which I've always believed, but now I question it.
The origin of Jerry Lawler being “The King” was because a fan in the 70s told him he was “The King of Memphis” after a show. He then planned on doing the king gimmick for only a few weeks at the suggestion of a friend, however when his friend passed, he decided to keep the gimmick as a tribute.
Whenever John says “What the hell” in that voice it cracks me up 😂😂
Jerry Lawler has always been known as The King. Nothing to do with King Of The Ring.
"King of the Quiz" Crown needs to happen
Hey, just a thought. You could have a screen set up so the guys can see the questions/answers. It might streamline things for recording episodes. Think about it!
Lawler got the title king back in 1974 when he beat Jackie Fargo for the NWA Southern Heavyweight Championship. He won the belt and the title King of Wrestling
This is a Dante type of quiz. John doesn't have a chance!
Dante was 0 for 4. He is like John I’m not knowing older WWE/wrestling history.
@@sinjin4563 started out 0-4* came back to win
John fell from grace at the end
Edge did win KOTR....Christian got jealous and cracked the huge trophy over Edge's head... that began their feud and launched their solo careers.
Edge won the 2001 KOTR, but sadly no King Edge gimmick; just a Christian heel turn.
Finn Balor had a "tournament gimmick" (a gimmick used only during wrestling tournaments) where "the prince wants to be the king" since he used to be known as Prince Devitt.
The last question was a bit of a trick. Both guys were 24 years old when they won, but Brock was 24yrs and 11mths, while Mabel was 24yrs and 4mths. So I guess technically speaking, Mabel was the younger man, but in terms of talking about age, you would usually say they were the same.
6:57 looks like it with that hair Dante 😂
slow start for the Champ but he could pull it back in the end. all hail King Dante
2002 king of the ring was one of my all time favorite ppvs. It was just stacked with amazing matches.
yes and no the DDT was actually a move name given to the finisher after jake the snake saw a news article mentioning a pesticide called the DDT being banned and thus the ddt was born but the damien's dinner time lines up with what happens post match in which damien gets to be free for his "dinner time"
0pts
#AndStill SCW Champion, Dante!
All Hail King Dante!
DDT isn’t named after the snake
I was certain that Austin's KotR win was 1996 because of a few factors. People usually think his Austin 3:16 promo immediately made him a top name. It didn't. But at WM13 his match with Bret Hart was one of those factors that made Steve Austin. That was 1997 meaning the KotR tournament had to be a long while before that Mania match. Then obviously he won the title from Michaels at WM14
When KOTR was run on a yearly basis between the 90s and early 2000s, it was the way the company would signal to the fans which Mid-card wrestler they would be giving a huge singles push to. You can see from the past winners - Bret, HHH, Edge, Kurt, Brock etc. and even with the less successful ones like Mabel, Billy Gunn
2002 was also the last time the winner got an automatic title shot. Triple H just revived that stipulation for this year; BOTH the king and queen will get title matches at SummerSlam.
Also, fun fact: Triple H was supposed to win the King of the Ring in '96 until the Curtain Call incident and Austin took his place. HHH won it the next year. I think it worked out all in all.
Can you imagine hearing "My name Is Dante, my name is John..."? I would be confused AF 😁 I am always saying this w them 😁
Apart from the two '96 questions this was REALLY hard!
you guys should do a behind the scenes from the start to when it comes out on CZcams
5:50 that's where Austin 3:16 was born. Jake had found God (I guess between addictions) and Austin was cutting a promo based on that.
That 1996 Steve Austin answer is the first time in scw history that John got a wrestling history question right that Dante got wrong 😂
Y'all need to go into the back catalogue of peacock every now and then gahhhhhdamn
now i want a SCW Crown beanie.
Nice. I got 7 going to the wager round. I didn't get the last one right though. I thought it was Brock too.
Funny that they both said they thought the tournament started in 92 and they both answered 92 for when they did the first KOTR PPV and that was one of the years they didn’t do the tournament. How could you not know Austin won KOTR in 96? The KOTR tournament in 2021 took place in October leading up to and ending at Crown Jewel, which was after the ThunderDome era.
The first 6 King of the Ring tournaments were never acknowledged on television, they were just a special house show held annually, first in Foxborough, MA and later in Providence, RI. Harley Race won the second KotR so that they could properly acknowledge his legendary status without having to admit there were other wrestling companies in the world. After Harley, the king character portrayed on TV was unrelated to the KotR tournament. Haku took over the crown when Harley had to have surgery, then Hacksaw Jim Duggan won it from Haku, before losing it to Randy Savage. Macho Man did actually win the KotR tournament, but that was 2 years before he started calling himself the Macho King. A month after Savage took on the king moniker, Tito Santana won the annual tournament, but that was never acknowledged on TV.
Man, Mabel was just 5 months younger than Brock when he won.
I was pretty confident, but Brock was almost 25 at the time.
Mabel wouldn't turn 25 until February (born on Valentine's Day, fun fact).
Learn something new everyday
Fun fact, when Jakes Snake Damien passed away, Alice Cooper gave him the snake he would perform on stage with.
13p (got the wager right but I didn't wager anything) the only question I Missed was the Xavier woods question. Almost a sweep city. But I'm real proud of myself. Ngl this was pretty easy.
Really surprised no Corbin or Shinsuke mention, we all just swept those under the rug 😂
As well as Wade Barrett and Zelina Vega!
@@ArcaneAnarchy Forgot about Wade, for suree
@JunoCentral Right? Not that the King Barrett gimmick did him any favors, but that's creative's fault.
Shinsuke wasn’t a winner, just took the gimmick like some old “kings” did back in the day
@AWESOMENISH Shinsuke fought Corbin for his crown and beat him. Technically he wasn't recognized as one but yeah, they did the same thing with Harley Race/Haku/Jim Duggan in the 80s.
Don't keep my score but surprisingly got quite a few right. Got the wager right just because something just told me that I had heard that fact before.
Jerry Lawler never won a king of the ring. He was wrestling in Memphis back in the 80s. I think his feud with Bret Hart in 93 was built off of him being mad over Bret being called king however.
He got the title back in 1974 when he beat Jackie Fargo and was named King of Wrestling
Man I LOVE King of the Ring! Sure they weren't all bangers but a lot of the PPVs ruled (hell in a cell 98, shane vs kurt 01 anyone?). I was cruising until the wager, so I missed sweep city, but finished with 14, so I'm happy 😊
Finally a quiz I am KILLING YALL!! 😂😂😂😂 cuz it’s my era and not yours!!!
Nice final wager question
DDT was named after the chemical used in pesticides, Jake read an article about it in a Newspaper while at breakfast in a Tampa diner and thats where he got the name
7:52 yeah, edge did win king of the ring in 2001.
Edge won KotR in 2001
Dante gets so sore when he's losing that he just openly mocks the quiz, smh
Dante at 12:06 just going full Wario
wwe king and queen of the ring is this saturday
Edge did win king of the ring against kurt angle it was when kurt was going for king of the ring back to back victories
I was pulling into Sweep City until my car crashed into Mabel 😭😭😭
What was the choir song that was at the end of the vid (15:33)
Jake got DDT from the chemical pesticide.
Dante with another fire comeback 🔥
So Sheamus talks about winning the IC title because it’s the only thing he’s never won because he’s won every other title and then also the Rumble, KotR, and MITB. Edge is the only person to have won everything.
If you are gonna do a king of the ring quiz i don't think you can expect an easier question than when did austin win.
Dante, what’s the go-to Dunkin order?
Had time to kill. Played along. Came away with 16 points. 8 on questions, 8 more on the wager.
Bow before me, mortals. Or pity me. Whichever. Peasants.
Mabel was a big heavy guy
Lesnar was 24 when he won the KOTR but Mable won it when he was younger 24.
Lordy. That was very history like video
lmao. DDT is named after an insecticide. dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane.
I'm sure DDT stud for Damiens death touch
Really how could you not recall it was Jake...that is the reason we have AUSTIN 3:16
Well, we gotta keep in mind they hardly know anything before the Ruthless Aggression era. Also, it's the promo that they always replay, very rarely do they mention that he beat Jake.
@@ArcaneAnarchy, it seems like they know badly all eras
@casual_acquaintance Yeah...yeah. I don't wanna bash them because I love the channel, but sometimes...boy they unknowingly embarrass themselves. It's all good fun though.
@@ArcaneAnarchy True they dont say who he is talking to with John 3:16 stuff
@@jfdrac "The first thing that I want to be done is to get that piece of crap out of my ring!" Poor Jake 😂
Mabel DID win KOTR......in 1995. Owen won in 1994. Both ended up going for the world title at SummerSlam that year; Mabel's match was arguably the worst match ever while Owen's is a 5 star cage classic against Bret which DID NOT main event that year's show.
what a comeback by Dante
nice tribute to Eddie, John
YOOO I got a sweep!
Love the thumbnail! Hail King Dante!
7:57 there was no king of the ring tournament in 2003.
12:55 Pinn Balor
If I remember correctly Mabel was due for a massive push after his KOTR victory but got shoved down the card for being an unsafe worker
Mabel received a massive push after King of the Ring. He main evented SummerSlam against Diesel and then feuded with Undertaker and faced his team at Survivor Series. He faced Undertaker again at the next PPV, then his last appearance for several years was in the Royal Rumble. He was then let go because Undertaker and Diesel had both been injured by him and refused to work with him.
@@vestallies ah so I was a bit off on the timeline my apologies thank you for the info!
Yeah dates are Dante’s thing. He’s got this. I’m going for the underdog. TeamJohn
Love all the content
This was tough. So tough I could only answer 7 answers correctly
Jake’s DDT was named after a deadly chemical - Dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane, it came way before Damien.
Somebody didn't do their homework lol
sophie "alrighty" pratt
The fact that you didn't know the Austin 3:16 promo was directed at Jake Robert's is sad
the king of the ring final this saturday is gunther vs tama or randy
Good luck everyone and good luck to John and dante
