- Tree Chipper Truck Rolls Over Under.....Trees! I'm not sure if this would be considered irony, but man did this little unit present a ton of issues. First, where is that tree guy from my previous video 🤣 All jokes aside, Alex got a challenge with this truck under trees and close to lines. Luckily he responded in Big Flipper, our 75ton rotator, to handle this with finesse.
Alex's goal was to get this truck parallel to the rotator so that when upright, Hector can safely tow it out. The small street it was on was steep and to protect the truck and box, Alex used recovery straps extended with synthetic slings. Sounds easy in theory, but rotators are meant to work with the boom up. Big Flipper is a strong unit though and could handle this even at a low boom angle and extended out a good amount. The stability was strong as well for once it was airborne so it could be safely swung over to the side.
Once off the side, it was just a matter of some quick re-rigging to lift and catch the truck in one shot so Hector can quickly tow it out of the street and back to the customer's yard. Not a huge container, but still a nice job with its own difficulties. What did you guys think of this one?

Now remember... Don't scratch the tree....
Yep😂😂
you got my comment lol
Hahahaha, I know, right?
Call Saul the tree man😂😂
Or hurt it's feelings
Pepe's is Always Very Well organized compared to other towing companies I have seen, it all goes back to it's proper location, so when needed it's there. Great job Alex
I really like watching Alex videos, he doesn’t talk a lot but enough to let you know what he is doing and why. Very professional and no self praising or tooting his own horn about what he is doing which makes for a very entertaining video. His camera and angles are excellent. This man knows his stuff and shows it and doesn’t have to brag about it!!!
I agree, unlike that other cocky guy he sure does suck
lmfao@@PepesTowingService
I thought the trees might have flipped the truck for revenge.
Alex another well planned and professional recovery!!! You are very good at planning out your job and performing it flawlessly.
Looks like the trees took revenge 😂 LOL
Thanks for including the conversation about how this got flipped. I'm a former arborist (tree climbing guy) who got injured out of the job, and I couldn't imagine how this guy flipped his truck right there. Those chip trucks get crazy heavy, though. Great job guys!
More like distraction or fell asleep at the wheel but its the Recovery that counts.😀
The driver said when he was going uphill, the truck lost momentum and then the brakes failed.
@55VickyV The truck was facing downhill? Either way, it's not a 1950s truck without any safety systems to prevent this exact scenario from happening. Obviously wasn't taught how to drive properly and could have killed people. No excuse.
Can I ask what injury happened? I’m also an arborist
Sure. My crew and I were cleaning up ice storm damage. There were a lot of trees snapped off about 20' high from the weight of the ice with their tops still dangling, so the trunks were under extreme tension. Huge risk of barber chairs. We'd been at this for many hours, cleaning up these trees, mostly focusing on avoiding barber chairs. Almost dark, some trees were tangled up under tension, and we were trying to sort out what order we could safely cut in, and from what I'm told about a 4" sapling under tension snapped out and hit me in the back/head. It shattered my helmet. I don't remember that part. Anyway, after some surgeries my doctor wouldn't clear me to go back to that line of work, so I sold my business and all my gear, and spent the next few years going to school to become an engineer. I work behind a desk now. I do miss working with trees though.@@dogbonetc7623
And again, smooth as butter. No slamming, just straightened
NICE JOB, im a tree guy so i know how heavy a full load of chips with the chipper on the back can be. luckily noone got hurt, pe pe's towing is a team of complete pro's. love the content

Hello, Mister George... How much you pay the new guy? 🤪🤪
Alex is Pepe’s tree specialist, he goes to great length to save every tree! Im addicted to the tree videos now, expecting the LA Parks Dept tree guy to roll up in a smart car or Prius at any moment…….
Alex has a job as the tree guy's position if he ever leaves Pepe's lmao
Good job again.

That’s what people forget, is how long it takes to put things away. 💪💪💪🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙🤙
1:54 - I cracked up listening to the crew's background conversation while Alex set out his plan. Little did I know that a few minutes later, Alex was going to break out his "nightcrawler" skills and interview them! Glad they were ingood spirits.
Alex, great respect! My temper has gotten the best of me more than I care to admit. Your temperament is to be admired young man.

"Same thing right here Spider!" 😂😂😂😂
My new years resolution, keep binge watching Pepe's Towing videos, and to give up smoking, does Hector want to join me ?😂😂(it's hard eh Hector)

A safe and healthy 2024 to all at Pepe's and your families. Thank You.
Keep binging! Love to see it, my new year's resolution is to try to find more time to reply to more comments
@@PepesTowingService Give your family time too dude, they grow up before you realise.👍
You have to be pretty chipper about how that turned out. ! Well done, not an easy job. I hope all at Pepes have a good new year, blessings to you all and your families.
Nice Job Alex - very professional job. Spider seems to be a good guy, you're very patient with him as a good mentor.

Nice job once again! I like how professional you are, keep moving and get the job done and look out for the customers vehicles or equipment. Very cool!
thank you , equipment is very expensive and we always strive at Pepes to salvage the most we can. Some people invest their savings into equipment and it's our duty to preserve it.
Good Job Alex!!! You have to be part Chongo!!! You climb around like one so quick and easy!!
Happy New Year from Dallas
You have to watch out for the pinche perros!
Hola ,me gustan mucho sus videos, felicidades,lo único que me gustaría mucho más que fuera subtitulada en español pues desafortunadamente no hablo muy bien inglés,pero aún así los miro.Saludos 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ola Amego.
gracias por mirar los vídeos saludos
Happy New Year 👍✌
Yeah i knowww 🤣 Great job Alex and Happy New Year! 💪🏼🪝
Un gran trabajo, estáis en todo, ha costado pero sin problemas, sois los mejores, ❤👍🇪🇦👏💪
gracias tio , saludos desde california
you always find something to work under, bridge, powerline tree etc!
from northern vermont...nice job. you seemed more stressed out tnan usual. not your chipper self
Alex doesn’t waste any time rigging and flipping. It looks like putting away all the equipment is time consuming.
Very nice job well done guys
It's ironic how a chipper truck was warned about a tree... Lol.
To give an idea of the grade, have a look at the house fence at 41:25.
good eye , thanks for watching
Yes that was cool Peace out
Thanks for asking why it turned over. I saw those strap prices on Bailey's web site.STOP!!!! Don't run over the straps.
Wow
Yes Alex please don't scratch the paint work or damage the tree 😂😂😂
ill try not to thanks for watching
Question Alex how often do you have to change the chains? Love watching your videos one hell of a tow truck operator you impress me every time you have a job you make it look so easy be safe out there happy New Year's to you and your family.
Very very very rarely. Most people abuse their equipment and overload it. We place a huge emphasis on working load limits. So in theory they should last you forever if taken care of right
Are you charging those hombres admission ! Great job !
👌👌👌👌👌💪💪💪💪💪⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Dot damage that tree it's probably not protected lol
I guess josh is too busy . You do a better job Thank you very much For the video Always be safe
Sorry for being too busy running the entire company, day to day operations, doing my own calls and editing every single video to be able to upload 3x a week just for random guys like you can complain. My pleasure :)
💥💥👍👍💥💥
Truck box looks top heavy and has long overhang behind rear tyres, l guess it would be inherently unstable and is maybe a contributing factor to truck rolling over.
My guess as well in my experience these are always over loaded or loaded to the max. Mix that in with a steep graded hill and bam
Ya
Guess the tree got the last laugh.
Nice job Alex. What area was this in?
San Pedro is what he said. Said he came from a job in Boyle Heights
This is almost identical to another job you did, where a semi slid on a property homeowners lawn....
do you have and use heavy lift air bags
we do and we have used them in the past
i seen you use the small ones in the past i mean the big ones used to lift the trailer thank you@@AlexanderHernandez088
Why did you choose to roll it that way instead of using the two mains as catches and the two aux lines to lift and roll it? It seems that the truck would have a much better tendency to stay parallel to the tow truck instead of rotating like it did
You mean perpendicular? Alex was backed up to it, rolling it from there would make it land perpendicular. Parallel is the end result of spinning it. If he did an upright from there, now the wrecker can't tow it. It would then need to be winched forward while turning the wheel and who knows how the brakes or steering are as they might be a factor in the crash. And the flatbed got there after he was already rigged to spin, the chipper would be in the way. Probably a hundred ways to do any given rollover. Why not back up the street from the opposite way, T-bone it, etc. He went with the method he wanted.
@@PepesTowingService I was talking about when you did roll it. Rather than using only the two main lines, using all 4 winches on the boom.
Just a thought why🎉 don't you paint your pull hooks different colors for different trucks like blue for Volvo and white for Freightliner
Why lol they are all incredibly different looking and all have their place in the tool box. I get the idea but it's solving a problem that doesn't exist.
Love your videos and I just saw that someone grabbed the wrong one and believe me I was not trying to be a smarta$$ just if you had a new worker it might be easier to say get the red one and again I was not trying to tell you your job Sam and have a great new year 🙏
that's a good idea wouldn't hurt . thanks for watching @@samuelspencer9194
@@AlexanderHernandez088 be safe and have a great day
@@PepesTowingService mister Josh I don't claim to be as good as you are but my dad wreckers and he taught me to drive when I was 6 he had a junk yard and I had to go out in the yard and pick up the cars and when I turned 16 I got a My CDL and started to go to wrecks and then I went by self and be the way I am 70 now I don't claim that was the best but I got the job done I know a lot of different ways to do the job the main thing is to safe and not to damage car or truck be safe and have a great day and a wonderful new year Sam
Happy Bew Year 🎉🎉🎉🎉2924🎉🎉🎉🎉 🍻🍻🎊🎊🎊🎆🎁🎆🎁🎆🎁🎆🎁🎆🎆🎁
Which driver took the truck to 5he yard?
Did you even watch the video? It was clearly Spider. We only showed his truck hooked up to the front. The only other driver on scene was Alex and his rotator can't tow. I mean it's pretty obvious
@@PepesTowingService yes. I know it was as a medium duty wrecker.
The load on that truck is too heavy for the brakes to stop it on that grade.
Correct
So why do you call your helper spider?
My help? Hector is a heavy wrecker operator, not the help. And that's been his nickname since before I was even born. No one even questions it, we just all know him as Spider
San Pe DRrro
It’s not called “San Pedro”….the locals just call it “Pedro“….lol
I have a yard in Wilmington, like right there, never in my life have I heard anyone call it Pedro lol
I hate how yall never use the full platform of the truck when there’s space too extended the truck on its full platform
And I hate you. Don’t watch my channel then cry baby no one will miss you
Feel like you coulda use deck winches and made the truck flip over
What tow company do you work at?
navarros lmfao @@PepesTowingService
low sheave everything , what catch lines lol
Spider needs some training about staying the f away from a suspended load...he was too worried about setting a 4x4 in place to block the wheels...I've seen many pieces of rigging and equipment failures.
Perhaps Spider's concern was the load would roll down the hill once set down on the wheels. It was mentioned more than once the truck might not have any brakes, or have brakes set.
Where have you seen many pieces of rigging and equipment failures? I have too and guess what, it's always from crap rigging. People abuse the hell out of chains which reduce the working load limit until it eventually breaks. We place the top most emphasis on staying within the load limits and never abusing equipment. With the synthetics he had, Alex was rigged to hold over 60,000lbs without a safety factor. There was 0 danger, relax. And Spider was timing it so it wouldn't roll back down once upright since brake failure is the supposed reason in the first place for the crash. But go off king tell me more
