  • After our morning enjoying the city of Ljubljana, it’s time to hit the road once again. Our ride takes us to Vrhnika, a small city with no shortage of charm, but today is all about the journey. under ar dramatic and threatening sky, we travel through the broad expanse of the Ljubljana Moors, ringed by mountains and filled with the music of insects and birds, before we take a side trip to Iški Vintgar, a gorge and nature preserve. There we enjoy a bit of nature before we take the final stretch into Vrhnika. A spectacular day, filled with beauty and memories.

    Love the intro with "Slovenia" rising out of the water.

    Yup, on those drone views!
    So beautiful.
    Some scenes almost look like a model railroad scene. Wow.
    So, love seeing those churches!
    That destroyed bridge was way beyond incredible, as it once existed!
    So, worried and nervous now..., that WWIII has already started in real-time.

      Yeah, I agree, Gary, they look like an HO set. Let's hope for the best on the current global situation. People keep screwing things up. Optimism is the way forward.

      Thank you Kenneth (and Gary). I was really happy with that shot. It was rather a plain little town. But the light that evening was really spectacular.

    Of course the bike is at least part of the problem. Think of the thousands of miles you have ridden your own bike, you fit it like a glove now and it fits you like a glove. Np other bike will ever fit or feel like your own. I bet you never leave it behind again though. Another winner video, Thanks.

    Even if the bicycles weren't the best, it looks like the tour operator picked a good route for you. I didn't know it was quite like that south of Ljubljana.

      You are so right. There's no way we'd be able to get away with that in the states. OSHA would be all over it, as would their lawyers. One of the things I love about Europe! Appreciate you, Claude!

    • @claudemarie9136
      @claudemarie9136 Před 4 měsíci

      Bonsoir Roland,
      I’ve never missed an opportunity to point out that, at the end of the day, we’re family.... with marginal differences but when we diverge said differences are substantial.
      I wonder if the good people #Caterpillar, Irving, TX who design these beasts have any knowledge of the conditions/ the safety environment (lack thereof) we use them ?
      Don’t know if using a hashtag + Cat could attract their attention, I can imagine them shaking their heads in disbelief, should they check this video 😁

    • @TheBicycleTourists
      @TheBicycleTourists  Před 4 měsíci

      Yes, but truth be told I'm glad they didn't force us onto a log detour!

    • @claudemarie9136
      @claudemarie9136 Před 4 měsíci

      FYI, **usually**, that’s not a written rule more like a gentleman agreement of sort, unless a road is absolutely impassable (for example washed out bridge and new remplacement bridge under construction), there’s no detour for cyclists if you ask kindly road construction workers.
      There’s also often that grey area between an open field (private property) and the shoulder (public land), as long as you do not damage the crop, you can walk that « grey line ».
      Whether you’re prepared to breathe warm asphalt fumes, dust or to be exposed to deafening noise without PPE is another conversation...
      Speaking of private property, this is an area where we diverge significantly.
      That might interest you, in most 🇪🇺countries, there’s a clear line drawn between trespassing without creating any damage or disturbances and the opposite.
      Shouldering your bike and walking cautiously between rows of fragile shoots will be met with a smile and a thumb up by farmers.
      Stupid hikers, you can see their big hiking boots marks in the mud, crushing farmers crops make me cringe.
      Ditto, fences, there’s a big difference between crawling under a barb wire fence and stepping on it, as if it was a ladder, stretching said barb wire and potentially breaking it if it is a bit rusty, in the process.
      Farmers have better things to do than inspecting their barb wire fences, yet there’s always those idi*ts.🤬.
      There is, for now, a clear difference between trespassing someone private property in a mindful and respectful way *without* creating any disturbance (fences, cattle, crops...etc) and doing so making a nuisance of oneself.
      Sadly, that might not last, those familiar signs in the 🇺🇸reading No Trespassing, Private Property, once rare in Europe are becoming increasingly common because of a minority of inconsiderate m*r*ns.
      /end rant 😉
      Have a nice day !

    • @TheBicycleTourists
      @TheBicycleTourists  Před 4 měsíci

      In the US, trespassing is trespassing. In Europe, as you say, its more nuanced. If you do no harm, what's the harm? Sadly, we wouldn't need "police" if there were nobody who wanted to break the social code. No military without bad actors. I much prefer a system that focuses on the intent and actions of the individual over a blind and absolute reading of the law. Be conscientious in your actions, and be rewarded with tolerance.
