    Oh my, this new & improved 2020 model is way more stylish than the first XT-5 from ten yrs ago! I'm definitely liking what I'm seeing here, way to go Cadillac! I'm particularly interested in the "Sportz Edition" & looking forward to you guys reviewing that one for us in the near future. However, this one isn't bad by any stretch that's for sure! Great review guys & keep up the progress Cadillac & I'm certain you will gain many more customers if you offer more bang for the buck compared with your Lexus competitor!

    2 years ago we bought a Lincoln Nautilus and have loved it but it developed a engine light issue and been in the shop 3 times in 4300 miles and now getting a new wiring harness and in the shop for 7 weeks. We have lost faith in the car and just bought a 2021 XT5 Sport White with Kona Brown interior. Will pick it up in about a week.

    I have to say I am pleasantly surprised at how well they executed this refresh. I generally have low expectations for GM, but in this case it looks nicely done. Good thing too, because Lincoln has been crushing it with their recent SUV line up, and Cadillac needs to remain competitive. No sound decibel reading?

    I'm glad I got the 2019. If you wonder what the 350T on the back of the 4 banger stands for or the 400 on the back of the V6 it is for the apx newton-meters of torque for each engine. Lame. GM apparently thinks we all have to get used to driving electric motors vs internal combustion engines; or at least finding some way to compare apple to apples. Not.
    My main beef with the XT5 is the tilt wheel; it won't lower far enough or fast enough. Take a look at these guys and where the wheel is. Too high, although they probably drove it before they learned how to operate the tilt; which is not obvious either. Takes getting the feel of the 4 way button for both tilt and telescope. The wife also has short legs and complains that the seat hits the back of her legs, bothering her when she drives. They need to shorten the seat front by at least 1/2". I could live with that myself. And finally, the paddle shifters should be mounted somehow on the column vs. turning with the steering wheel. In manual mode (one way to keep the engine running at a stop light also) from a stop, and then turning around a corner, you want to upshift from 1 to 2 but the paddle is not reachable once you crank the wheel. So, you end up revving the engine by the time you straighten the wheel and grab your upshift (downshifting should be done before a turn, so that's not a real issue). All the other issues, like no spare tire, are something you just need to learn and get used to. Overall the XT5 ranks about a 7.5 on a 10 scale IMHO. For the money it is a great ride. The 2020 CT6-V or the Z51 Corvette would be my dream car instead. ;^)

    I almost feel like with the introduction of the XT6 and Cadillac making the less powerful turbo standard I feel like they are more so pushing this as an NX competitor vs the RX since it has kinda grown out of this segment with features & size with the larger L available.

    • @stefanb.5154

      @@stefanb.5154 Standard size if it stays standard size with the next generation because its obviously moving upmarket. The XT4 is defintely not directly geared twd compacts Cadillac has compared this to smaller subcompacts X1, XC40, UX, Q3 etc... Although obviously certain options make certain models overlap

    • @stefanb.5154
      @stefanb.5154 Před 4 lety

      LR Young it’s actually closer in size to those of the compact category rather than the subcompact. The xt4 is Cadillac’s compact with the xt5 and xt6 being the midsize and large 3 row respectively. It wouldn’t make sense for them to have a marketable subcompact and not a true compact.

      @@stefanb.5154 I've been in the presence of that vehicle multiple times. It doesn't even have a 3rd quarter panel window. 😂 It's a lil bigger because it's a tweener but in reality the vehicle is not that roomy just wide.

    • @stefanb.5154
      @stefanb.5154 Před 4 lety

      LR Young If they marketed it as a subcompact crossover it would change the naming scheme entirely as they wouldn’t have a compact crossover at all. You do realize that right? I’m sure Cadillac isn’t that dumb. The xt4 is targeted towards compact, the xt5 midsize, and the xt6 as a 3-row. It’s the only logical mechanism. There’s no other reasoning that would even make sense. Cadillac restructured their entire lineup to fit this specific listing for sedans and crossovers. Any journalist could tell you that.

    All I need to know is: What is the residual value of both cars 1 day, 1 month, 1 year and 5 years after you take possession? The Caddy will be worthless when compared to the Lexus... GM took billions of our tax dollars in a bailout to manufacture crap like this... while Toyota has been making money the old fashioned way...they earn it by giving us vehicles that are worth buying.
