This is what CZcams does. They should have done this a long time ago. But this is good there, now I'll probably post there more when I can.
I am TOTALLY fine with the explore page pushing new content creators to me. HOWEVER, I seriously feel that Instagram should just bring back the algorithm, where my following feed shows me my following's content in CHRONOLOGICAL order! It has been such a norm that I missed my friends' postings for MONTHS!
I'm actually happy about the fact that Instagram is gonna replace unoriginal content with the original content since there's so many people in the art community who usually take your art without permission and repost it to promote their merch which is annoying since they have bigger account all of the attention goes to them instead of the artist themselves
Right!! I constantly see photographers complaining about stolen photos, and while you can get them taken down, it doesn’t make up for engagement that went to the other account. HUGE change

yeah! and i though i kinda appreciate the work that goes into running a curated photography or illustration page, I've always wished that the likes went to the contributors directly. that's just fair.
Omg I've been sick of this for years. Big reposting accounts will repost my art without my consent and butcher my name on purpose in credit, so that people don't find me!
Well this will also stop the talk about Palestine support and bringing people more awareness
Im so tired of opening suggested content from big influencers and brands and I will rarely get to see my friends content if I dont intentionally look for it
Right on my home page I see more suggested and promoted content than who I'm following
I wish instagram formatted the app like CZcams. Like you have an “explore” page where you can see recommended content and then a feed exclusively from people that you follow/subscribe to. Because I feel like a lot of people have been feeling like not even their followers are seeing their content half the time.
This!! I want to remain up to date on people I know personally and accounts I’m invested in. Instead I’m met with a bunch of recommended accounts which sucks because those can just remain on the explore page
In EU it's the case, you can chose between the regulqr feed, a list of favourite or a "following" feed.
This feature exist already! But hidden! Click (or touch) the Instagram logo from your home page.. then click (or touch) "following"

I am so mad that they have this feature but make it hidden!
They do need to fix this but for now, if you go to the top left corner (on your phone only) and tap on the word Instagram, you'll see a drop down menu. If you click on following it will take you to a feed that only shows the accounts you follow
This does exist (a bit diff) in the upper left corner
I get more attention on TikTok and CZcams than instagram 🤦🏾♀️. My first priority are those platforms over instagram.
I just deleted my Instagram. I have a Facebook page with 12000 followers yet when I post , my post get no likes or views. It will be deleted!!

The only difference I’ve noticed is that I have no views, likes nor followers the first day… After 2 days it all comes at once …
This is nice and all BUT there's a lingering issue on Instagram that still demands attention and is why many people don't even bother with the platform anymore: The unjust banning and deletion of accounts and comments. Instagram still hasn't adequately addressed the fact that SO MUCH content keeps getting mistakenly flagged as "going against community rules and standards."
@EgoNext Door Exactly!! That was how I lost monetization. Few months ago. I deleted the app today. I will focus on CZcams and my website.

Also, my comment talking about about attention seeking, but yet y’all are promoting people for attention seeking so why is my comment of me laughing and joking with a person under their content a red flag cause I might take away from their shine?? Like if they banned me off the Instagram I swear I’m not creating another account and they just gonna have a lot of people that’s just not gonna get back on Instagram anymore you know and I will just be down the only people that’s gonna be on there are the creators and they’re gonna be looking stupid when they find out all their normal actual people followers are not even following them anymore because Instagram booted us
I’m not mad at this change at all. I also hope once the algorithm gets you in front of the audience you’re wanting & they follow you, that they will be able to see your content. Because that’s what people are complaining about the most. It’s nice to get in front of new audiences but don’t forget the existing one.

As an artist, we are all completely struggling with this algorithm change. Personally I have always managed to work with the algorithm but for now it’s just went downhill. Which I find funny as artists we always post original content🤷♀️. My reach is the lowest it has ever been for years and I’m not even getting 1000 views on a reel anymore. It’s never been this bad and I have no idea what I’ve done to cause this.

@@JuliaBraido I have always really enjoyed creating and posting art related content but the last 2 weeks have, for the first time in years, made me feel like the effort is not worth it. I have spend hours to learn what posts of mine do good and what doesn’t and had learnt how to grow and I feel like I’ve just went down a massive hill. This month I lost nearly 100 followers and my reach is the lowest it’s been for 2-3 years. 🥲
It's not what you've done. It's that there is more content being posted to Instagram than ever and fewer people to look at it. TikTok took a huge bite out of the time people used to spend looking at IG.
Me too. I have 23k followers, and my views on my reels about my handmade jewellery aren't even hitting 2k, some have 500 views. But ny 3 second stupid reels of looping videos with text get 50k views. I'm done selling my soul. I'll accept the low views and loss or followers if it means I share my jewellery.

I'm really happy with the diversification of recommendations. Especially, if I actually start to see smaller accounts being recommended to me. I really love finding those because you can actually connect with the people running them. Unlike the bigger ones (that I've been seeing almost exclusively in my feed - 70-200k), when you comment, they reply, and you have a conversation! Social media becomes social again!
It's been hard to grow your own community, sure, but it's also been really hard to find communities to be part of.
Changes sound great but I only post original content and my reach has reduced. Maybe they’ve got it wrong. I want to know how they judge what is original.
I swear something similar is happening with youtube! For the past 5 days or so I've only been suggested on my home page small channels (appart from my subscriptions). I've enjoyed this proces but remembered this video and knew I had to come back and let u guys know!

Sounds good, I'm a very small creator and nearly given up on Instagram. Everyone who sees my work says it's really good but it never seems to push it out to a wider audience. I will keep trying. 😪

I've already seen a big change in my reels feed today! I got a few reels in a row with basically no likes (and pretty crappy quality tbh) and I was lile wtf is going on?? I LOVE both of those updates! First of all, they will be a great help for my business account so I can hopefully get some followers and engagement. But for me personally on the platform, I'll love seeing more original content. I get tired of seeing a lot of things reposted or redone, so yes, love both!
Cheers, love this! Finally IG is taking a step forward to making itself useful again. I cannot tell you how much I hated posting on there because it was always just crickets and dust. I'm not a SMM, so figuring out what it wants was just so painfully annoying, that I've given it up at some point. Funnily enough, 11 days ago I decided to finally conquer it with my travel content, deciding to get myself on a 30-day IG challenge. And here you are, talking about your own challenge 😅. Let's see if IG can make it work for us this time - travel is something I am very passionate about. If I can't make it with this, IG is pretty much done for me.
I’m curious how this is going to affect reusing your own original photos. I’m a product based business and mix in my new things along with bringing back older things to remind followers about all my offerings.
As a creator I think these updates is great. From a consumer of content, I go I am really looking forward to this update. I want to see original content and find original creators, not see countless of the same viral content reposted from numerous of repost accounts. Previously recent hashtags were the only way to do this (since explore is always filled with multiples of the same viral reposted images or stuff I have already seen before). Hence hoping these changes will finally be able to fix the issues explore has.

Thank’s for these infos! I am wondering about the quote pages that use creators videos to put the quotes on them… Are they gonna be affected? Adam commented under this video that “this is about exact reshares”. So if someone takes a random video, changes its color, put some trending audio and a quote, that should not be qualified as exact copy no??
That second change, the original & unoriginal comment sounds a bit similar to what Twitter(X) does. You can share, not repost, but share a video from an original post as your own tweet and add a caption. BUT, at the bottom it shows the tag/handle to the person you shared the video from. I personally appreciate these changes. Not gonna lie I did notice this the other day and complained about it because it was just overwhelming, but now that I’ve thought about it a bit more AND watched your video to put it all into perspective…….I just might come back to Instagram.

What happen with having a fan page from an artist, usually a fanpage repost of the original post. So is the fan page redundant?

I definitely have noticed a difference on Instagram!! it's pushed our views way up.
What's interesting though, our shorts sill preform better everywhere else.
I'm starting to feel like I should only post on CZcams since that's where I'm trying to build an audience.
It also seems like our content only fits here, because it's mostly tech.
No one is going from Instagram to CZcams, but plenty of action from Shorts.
I hope these changes improve Instagram 😵💫
Thanks Jade. I agree I think this is a great change. I do however think this change will be better received by content consumers because of Tiktok. I think we are now more comfortable with seeing unfamiliar faces on our feeds on Tiktok. For those who aren't on Tiktok they will absolutely hate it though

This change sounds positive - I may even check out the app again. I basically stopped using it because there was too much content from brands - even though it was probably my fault because I followed them all 😅 I think the algorithm changes made it worse and tipped it over the edge.

1st - How to I get more reach to my actual followers? Like why do I have almost 400k across all the platforms, but I’m not actually getting views from those people?
2nd - would Facebook flag me for “unoriginal content” just for reposting the same reels to my other platforms? Even though it’s genuinely a video that I created?

I wish that Instagram actually incentivised (paid) creators to make content for their platform. I put way more effort into CZcams and TikTok than insta because I can actually make money from it, instead of just building my followers. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, but there is no creator fund on Instagram in the uk, right?

The Last change is needed!! All those people who are using pinterest images and Getty images as feed fillers to keep an "aesthetically" neat feed are gonna have problems!!! Jade do you think this could also be effected by choosing a cover for a reel?

What about reposting your own content? I frequently re-upload old reels of mine that I first posted 1-2 years ago. Will that also be flagged as unoriginal content?
Wondering the same as well, I believe it’s more of an issue if you’re reposting videos on a separate channel. I’ve heard of channels being deleted this way.

I'm looking forward to seeing where this update takes the app, i'm a dj page with less than 300 followers so extending reach is a massive challenge for me however slowly but surely creeping up on my 300 follower goal (230 at the time of writing this comment) i struggle however to turn content likes and feedback into followers, the broader my reach is for promotion the more chances i have of getting gis in the future so anyone got any tips?
