    I have listened to a lot of professional photographers or CZcamsrs but nothing compares on how you explain things knowledgeably like the way you do. Thank you so much. I have R7 and R6 as well. Thank you for sharing your knowledge

    Wow, I am stopping the video after 16 minutes just so I can comment on how lucid and compelling Ms. Clark is. A model of clarity. Now, back to the video!

    I have R7 and I couldn’t be happier. I use it for our photography business and for personal use. It is a very fast and very diverse camera for a very reasonable price. Love my R7.

    I really like the simplicity of the R7. Using FV mode I can control all of my main settings while looking through the viewfinder with only the front dial and rear wheel. It's much simpler than any other way I've shot including manual mode or aperture or shutter priority. Every setting starts as Auto and you set each one the way you want by moving the icon with the rear wheel. You adjust the setting with the front dial. If you tap the trash button that setting will return to Auto, if you hold down the trash button all the settings will return to auto. It's so simple and easy to use in the field!
    I set my shutter speed for fast action and move the icon over to exposure compensation. If you're in auto ISO the exposure compensation shows in the viewfinder also. You don't have to use the iso button or any other buttons.

    Good advice for the most part. I would argue against using electronic shutter on birds in flight, you will get warped wings because of the way the electronic captures in a series of scans.

    • @alansach8437
      @alansach8437 Před rokem

      I have been using the R7 exclusively in electronic shutter mode on birds from a blind, both flying and perched, to avoid spooking them. I have not noticed any warping. I suppose there could be some, but if I can't notice it, and others looking at the photos haven't, I'm not going to worry about it. Mechanical shutter was causing the birds to keep their distance. I have been using H mode (15fps) rather than H+ (30fps), and 2500 to 3200 shutter speeds.
      I can also say that I was concerned that the two dial setup of the R7 would be difficult to get used to, but I have found it very intuitive.

    Nice presentation from Kathy Adams Clark ! we feel all the love for photography and birds ! I am super satisfied with my Canon R7 the colorimetry is so good that for my videos I have almost nothing to do in terms of calibration !

    I just upgraded to an R7 from an 80D. Watched the CZcamss about settings for bird photography. I got more out-of-focus shots and just as few excellent ones as with the 80D after a day of shooting.

    • @mwmpcmag
      @mwmpcmag Před 3 měsíci

      I also found that the noise was very bad at any ISO above 1000 when I would shoot and the bird would be dark because of exposure being under and then I had to increase the brightness of the photo just as bad as on the 80D...

    That why l love the reg recall so l set it to a high shutter speed so when the bird takes off l just move thumb from back button focus to the reg recall button next to it & l have my 1/4000th or whatever l chose. Magic stuff👍 well put together Kathy, enjoyed it. R7 has a quiet false shutter sound can use in electronic mode, using the zones can help with which Birds Eye it gets.

      Yes, I also like Reg\Recall on the R7 to take me directly to a settings that work for birds-in-flight with minimal delay. Typically, this means eye tracking with the largest possible AF area. This works well if my default AF mode is set to Servo AF. But at least one of my custom modes uses one-stop AF as its default, and I still wish that I could invoke Reg\Recall with Servo AF if a bird flies by :)

    After having my R7 from before this video was posted, I can say that the best bet is to buy the RF 100-500. I've had to struggle with the RF 100-400 due to it's limited aperture of f/8. The problem is Canon not allowing other lens makers manufacture RF mount lenses. So, yes. The R7 is a great camera, but only as good as lens you pair it with.

    • @gerhardbotha7336
      @gerhardbotha7336 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Why is F8 limiting? In order to get proper depth of field one often have to shoot at F8 or F11. Of course it is nice to have a F4 or F5.6 lens. Nice, but not a deal breaker. And nothing stops you putting a Sigma 150-600 with EF mount on the RF. I dont own one RF lens yet. All EF glass.

    Miss the ethics part, don’t disturb the birds as a principle, don’t feed them in spring/summer, no photo deserves harming. Emilie Talpin’s series explained so well. Anyway, the video is great. Thanks a lot 👏🏻👏🏻

    Great pictures and great advice. One thing however is that I don't like to disturb the birds I'm photographing, which I think flash could do.

    Great presentation. I k ow this was sponsored by Canon but I’m disappointed she didn’t discuss the issues with severe rolling shutter and shutter shock in mechanical shutter mode. I was hoping to hear any solutions she might have had.
