  • Manor House Stables is a successful training yard in Malpas, Cheshire and owned by former Ballon d'Or-winning footballer, Michael Owen. After parting company with the previous resident trainer, Tom Dascombe in December, Owen recently appointed a successor in the form of Classic-winning trainer, Hugo Palmer, who has relocated from Newmarket.
Despite the recent change of personnel, the stable is hoping to put together a handy team of horses (albeit smaller than previous years, due to the changeover) for the upcoming Chester May Festival (which runs 4-6 May, next week), a local meeting that the yard has always supported well.

I think Dascombe did incredibly well with what he had to work with. Something about Owen that is just not likeable.

Think there's something about all 3 that isn't likeable having met 2 of them that view was upheld.

He backed him with funds breeding operation and top quality staff and he had to many bought in flops,so on reflection of results he was more than patient.

@@markymark558 It is no coincidence that Dascombe(trainer)Kingscote(stable jockey)and Andrew Black owner and who set up the stable in partnership with Owen have all left Black took away all his horses bar one.He is not the cheeky chappy some might think he is and he doesn't spend his millions buying pricey horses for the yard either!!
