ITS THE ONLY WAY!
DRUGS
Oh wow, i did not expect it was possible to be neutral with "redacted"
Thx for mod list. Have a good day to you
Dude keep this run going!!!
There's almost an inevitable tendency of most players to transfer their RimWorld habits to Starsector or the other way around.
The hunger for blood and profit just runs in every Rimworld/Starsector player's blood.
@@kkp01140 Run In *EVERY* players Blood
Yeah somehow the cycle is Rimworld > Starsector > Kenshi and back again for me.
this has me thinking imagine a link between the 2 games ... like building the ship in rimworld starts a game of starsector with that as your lone ship
@@jkelleyk and finishing the first 2 phases of spore starts you off as a rimworld colonist, brilliant
9:24 Seeing your first Radiant phase skip changes you.
Ahhh yes I’ll just flank this Battleship and disable its engines like I have with Onslaught’s , Legion’s or Paragon’s ….,..

YOU ARE A CAPITAL YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO SIT THERE AND LET ME HIT YOU
Whenever I settle in a place with Remnants, I just grab a tri-tach commission. Makes the remnants passive to you and gives you free income, which works for me.
Hilarious video though!
Funnily enough, i started with a luddic church comission and was inhospitable with the remnants (so not hostile)
yo wtf really?
that's not mod content right? because that's INSANE for exploration purposes.
@@joelfilho2625 I think that's caused by Nerexelin
@@joelfilho2625 Ah, that's embarrassing. AngryDrunkLiberal is right, its that mod. I haven't done vanilla Starsector since...
I don't remember when.
My bad. They ARE neutral with Tri-Tach in vanilla, however, but a commission doesn't seem to make them neutral to the player.
@@Davion197 isnt it your neutral in vanilla if you never fight a remnant pre commision? or was that patched?
Dont forget, u even had volturn. YOU BASICALLY OWN 100% of the lobster market ma man
Shit, I forgot to mention that aha

As an inexperienced player to Star Sector, I REALLY appreciate you taking a brief moment to call out the little things like which ship mods you use, hot keys for helpful info, etc. Thank you very much!!
i lately wanted to play this game, can you help me get the game? I just want to awoid sketchy sites.
@@kajek1229 Just search Starsector. Should be the first result with fractalworks.
Rarr: Hey[Redacted] lets improve our relationship
Literally everyone: cowabunga another Ai war it is
Tri-Tachyon: Hey Rarr friend
You should do a run where you use the Pirate's Insulated Cargo Holds to smuggle Drugs right under their noses. Apparently all factions that forbid SMUGGLING drugs don't forbid SELLING drugs.
They only prevent a certain amount of contraband being detected during a scan, selling to a black market will raise your suspicion x the value sold, so he would get harassed endlessly by pickets and lose relations to the point of them becoming hostile.
thats why you only do that AFTER you can fill an Atlas with drugs
It depends on a world-to-world basis, I've found smaller Hegemony worlds where the chemical arts were legal.
tl;dr incoming.
Rarr has absolutely solid advice on ship design, with the only caveat I'd add is that you should max out the flux dissipation stat first and foremost before you start adding guns.
If you've got the Industrial Evolution mod like Rarr does, and you've got a colony in a system that's constantly hostile (also like Rarr does), the "Salvage Yard" colony industry generates exported goods based on the volume and size of destroyed ships in the system. That's *any* ships, mind you, even your own faction's, and for *any* reason, even if you aren't directly involved. Having a Remnant fleet try and headbutt your Battlestation with an Alpha core in it is pure profit. Hell, you could set up shop in a system with two perpetually warring factions and engage in some war profiteering by scavenging the battlefield, which sounds even less ethical than drug smuggling despite not actively trying to ruin anyone's life.
As far as using Remnant ships via the "Automated Ships" skill... well. They're fairly good, require no crew, and AI cores have a pretty good suite of officer skills (3/5/7 for gamma/beta/alpha), plus they get one more if you permanently install them in the ships. That said, cores multiply the value of the ship and you hit the soft cap on the skill pretty quickly (one Brilliant-class with an Alpha core did it the first time I tried it) and there's diminishing returns, so while the battleships *are* awesome, going big really isn't "going deep into the Technology skill tree" good, especially if that's your sole goal.
(using Derelicts isn't worth it, don't bother - their AI could charitably be described as "W+M1.")
So what do you do? My theory is you go *small*. Get yourself a bunch of Glimmer-class, put gamma cores in them, and invest in the Wolfpack Tactics skill. Both in terms of Remnant ships and frigates, Glimmers are surprisingly good (1 medium and 4 small synergy, which means beam and missile spam, plus a ship system that increases energy damage), and all those cores count as captains so your swarm is dealing +20% damage to anything bigger than them. If you look to your right you're probably going to see a video in your recommendations called "Starsector Wolfpack Tactics," which is a beautiful bit of viewing on the subject.
No.
DO YOU LIKE, MY CAR!?
Another piece of shipbuilding advice I would add is that you want all of the ship's offensive weapons (besides missiles) to have similar range. This is because, depending on personality, the ship will usually try to stay eitther at the long end (making shorter-range guns not fire with badly mismatched ranged) or the short end (wasting the long range of longer-rage guns) of its non-missile, non-PD range bracket.
yeah but then you end up with shit shields
@@xy2447 Shield shunt hullmod removes shields entirely and slightly boosts armour. So your shield-shunted ship will just face-tank any incoming fire. This works well on low tech ships with a LOT of armour.
I bought this game on a whim years ago, it had like a few planets, and there was no travelling beyond the star system. It wasn't even called Star Sector. To think it's come this far, it's amazing. Truly a great sandbox. I love that there is actually a simulated economy, makes me want to take out the competition and become the sole drug supplier of the galaxy.
Just checked my email, it was in late 2012 when I bought it. Gonna fire it back up.
Drug mule settles down and raises lobsters
Love it! Your series actually got me into this great game in the first place. I've been having a hell of a lot of fun with it ever since. Cheers Rarr
Glad you enjoy it!
HERESY! Everyone got into this game thanks to Sseth's review!
If you haven't watched it already, DO IT. You will be thankful.
@@lorenzocassaro3054 I noticed that most starsector content creators are always comedic but detailed but I think it's a byproduct of the game just throwing the most ridiculous situations at you relentlessly but feels real rather than unfair but yeah, that's the review that made me buy the game
I got into the game because of both Rarrs and Sseth's reviews
How
I struggled a LOT after the last update. a LOT. Usually Icould crouise around with three odessys, a Nibelugen, two Orlean carriers, four hammer heads (Sylphon variant) eight tempests and my fuel tankers. and i was BLEEDING MONEY LIKE CRAZY. In the past getting bounties didnt make this a problem. Not any more.
saved up 2 million and blew it all on marines and heavy weapons to invade a Luddic Church world got a level 7 home planet off the bat. S'how its done. PRINTING money off the bat.
Storing my ships at prisom Freeport and selling drugs like crazy saved my empire. Thanks Rarr.
PS> Modded is the only way to play this game. Makes it SO MUCH FUN
I love Starsector.
I love drugs
@@Itikot I already said that.
@@t-rex9809 oh ill sue u for it then
I've never made it even remotely close to what's shown in the videos, I'm still early game hunting pirates but god damn this looks fun!
I love selling cheap drugs to desperate people then make them addicted. Definitely an outstanding long term investment
Top tip for sketchy trading, if you do nothing illegal for a while they usually wont try to scan you on the way in so you can just rock op sell 1million credits of illegal stuff with your transponder on and at worst loose a couple of rep.
Yea and honestly. No matter how bloated your fleet you can explore the outer reaches. If you can keep killing remenants you'll have all the resources you'll ever need.
Love your content, you're the reason I bought starsector. Would love more content. LP maybe? Please?
Just found the channel and binged a few videos. I've never heard of Starsector before, but it looks really fun. Complicated, but fun. It looks like a hybrid of 40k and Star Trek. Subbed!
One of the best derelict gameplay video out there and nice music! Ur a man of culture
I got into this game after randomly stumbling across your videos in my youtube feed, and now I fucking love Starsector.
This is what I do eventually in every game I play where this is possible. I salute you
Phase Tender ships are really good for this. Nearly invisible to patrols if you get sensor ability as well as phase storage ships.
This goes to show, when we are left in a open world, and we are the narrators, all hell breaks loose. My fellow RimWorld players.
i love your starsector content
Hey rarr its me again glad to see your making more starcore video's and about selling drugs and winning the game... Speaking about drugs and winning did u know that in the video called The Cassandra Classic Experience that's not out could have all of that. Nonetheless love the content and have a good one.
Loved the video! Just discovered this game bc of Ssethtzeentach's video and looked up videos based on this game and you popped up! Gonna check out your other videos now! Liked & *SUBSCRIBED*
Love the Starsector vids !
damn man, i remember like a year ago i subbed to you for rimworld but i dont remember when i unsubbed but glad to see you reappear in my recommendations w starsector. absolutely great game and nice entertaining video :)
Glad to have you back.
That was beautiful please upload more
These starsector videos are crazy good
Thank you.
Damn i need a lets play of this, i love starsector and its a shame theres so few lets plays
I needed more, and I was given more.
Wow, that's a very lucrative empire you build there! :o
Beautifull, but i hope you will give a high tech a run, the high tech battlestation / fortress is crazy :D and the ships are also realy good, phase ones, or the capitals...
That's the best way to make the game go on easy mode, ally with the remnant and pirates and just build your bases in their space, free patrols that keep your homes safe and if people come and kill a few patrols a little remtek and ai cores litter the system.
dude don't stop with these starsector uploads they slap
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYes, more starsector. thank you very much
I am waiting for full version of this game. I hope I am still breathing that day.
nice video =) we love starsector
Thanks (:
Video Idea.
With the phase skills in starsector and specific phase ships (Not the Phantom, Redacted or Tender) you can build a fleet of 5 phase ships. With the ships built up correctly you can have an indefinitely large fleet with minimal sensor profile if you do it right.
I can leave more info if you're interested in the idea.
I was just pondering thus. New to StarSnacker and just won a campaign coalition victory. But I want to be the ruler of a one party system so I'm gonna need a LOT of sweet narcotics
If you think the Remnant Paladin PD System was cool you should see what the Javanicus from the Mayasuran Navy mod, specifically the (M) variant, has as an integrated PD system. It's so powerful it ends up outdamaging any other weapon on the ship despite having to also do PD work.
Also, Mayasuran Navy in itself is a really cool mod. If you choose them, they have a pretty unique start in Nexerelin where you get governorship of their colony (size 5 and has Heavy Industry and Vast Ruins) and access to ALL of their blueprints, among which is the Skysplitter (M) Battlecruiser, which is one of the most fun capital ships to use as a player. There's a catch though, and that's that you're going to be hostile to a lot of factions from very early on, so despite the huge head start you get it can be quite a fun challenge. I'd love to see you try it!
More Starsector makes me more happy, and thanks for explaining some stuff in this video because loading up the game for the first time and wow it hits you like a truck with all this stuff.
I'm still confused if I understand weapon groups or not honestly, should I group all weapons with the same damage type ( anti shield /anti armor etc) together or not?
So I normally only use a few weapons groups "Main Weapons which are the ones I'm going to use" "Missiles" "Secondary offensive weapons" and the "Point defense" and make sure to tick the Auto fire box for your secondary weapons and point defense. It seems to have worked out for me so far aha
Reassembly + mount and blade warband, but imo this smashes both of them out of the park, i gotta get this game
5:44. . . Dakka Dakka is my favorite solution to gunfights. . . Can't shoot me if your ship don't work ;)

- PLAYING MY FAVORITE STARSECTOR
I DID NOTHING FOR ENTERTAINMENT LIKE THIS
I’ve been playing the Archean order mod and holy crap you kit out a megalith with no flux gen pulse lasers and thermo cannons with 3 atronoch beams plus a lot over hull mods and some gauntlet torpedo bombers and once you take out the other capitals shields you can pretty much on tap the ship in one salvo with the beams they each do over 9k damage each the ship it’s sled only gens 651 flux
Just wait till you find a Recreational Drug VPC, those be printing drugs for days when put in a variable manufacturer. I've found one from a tech mining industry but not terribly common.
P.S. a feature of Industrial Evolutions mod
run idea: conquer the entire sector and take over every planet that refuses to ally with you, while building a kickass fleet
But that will cripple your colony profits.
babe wake up rarr posted another video
These videos are far too high quality to be so niche. You’re gonna blow up real soon, guaranteed
That 1st Rule is probably the most groundbreaking thing i ever heard about Starsector and it might finally be the reason that i will stop getting my ass kicked every fucking time i fight something i dont have overwhelming advantage over..
🔥🔥🔥
Cool
THANK YOU! ..... MAKE MORE!
I will!
@@Rarr MAJESTIC!
My ships tend to be on the side of either I have more guns than you have ships or I have more ships than I have frame rates if I decide to.. alter the fleet deployment limits in the ini.
The upkeep of 100-300 small ships is like a fat kid at a chocolate fountain, and they have a habit of ramming everything due to 2D space.
*Radiant enagages phase skimmer*
*CONFUSED SCREAMING*
How do you have diplomacy Whit the Remnants? , i'll admit iIm just using the base game for my first run, but the prospect of oredring Radiant Battelships is great! I suppose you aere using one of the many mods?
i need this game in steam ASAP!
I preffered Samiel (HMI planet) for buying drugs. It's almost always selling drugs for ~ 90 credits per unit. And also Red Water is also selling there. It's much more profitable.
Wait till he figures out the 7 in-built mod ships built with industrial ruins
*teleports to face you* psh, nothing personal kid
What was it that allowed you to ally with the reminant? Was it a mod or just having 2 Beta Cores?
radiants are fun, especialy with alpha core officers.
And this stands for both sides xD
G.G. drug tycoon.
Im a Heavy Weapons guy myself.
Drugs are good in bulk tho
I think you need to go for 100% of the drug market now
I love lean Charlie! I LOVE LEEEEAN!!!
HEY nice list of mods but do you have a link for "Super Weapons Arsenal" cant find it anywhere... i hope u can hlp me ;D
*Teleports behind you* nothing personal, organic
HY-BRASIL and drugs... this is not a coincidence
i didn't know you can raise your reputation with the Remnants, how did you do it?
Hey if you weren't going to profit off of suffering and misery, then who is?
The pirates?
Ha.
Why do you prefer the low tech station compared to the midline or high te h ones?
More Dakka
start every playthrough by trading for 20 minutes as efficently possible and just have enough credits for the rest of the game
ah finally
Hybrasil mentioned
Could we get more videos of this playthrough?
Drugs and Heavy Armaments, best way to make a profit.
7:23 that's me every fucking time i find this bullshit instead pristine nanoforge.
A little late to the party, but what mod of your list let you be able to fly a remnant and gain reputation with the remnant faction?
Flying Remnant ships requires a skill ("Automated Ships", I think), and I'm reasonably sure the Nexerlin mod adds the ability to ally with Remnants.
In description it says "Stop Gas Measures". . . did you mean "Stop Gap Measures"? (im new to the game you inspired me to try it out)
shhhhh
Lord Rarr, where can I purchase this fine game?
heres a tip for the noobs... shield+ damage has the added bonus of if your opponents flux is capped via the shield being punished they cant hurt you... the emp weapons achieve the same result and are very nice on the smaller version of the doom in the players hands... cheapish ship but very op for crippling mid to late tier ships for the rest of your fleet to hook in...
Jeneral Sam vibes in your videos, i like it and i hate it at the same time
Perfect
destroying the diktat for their drugmarket share? they always get bullied by the other factions, so you know what i usually do? the first cryomatic engine i find, i sell to sindria. that helps them a lot.
Drug Lord 🙏
needs more daka
Lol i have almost the same modlist. Try carriers expanded
You mean Modern Carriers?
Fighter Expansion Rebalanced is good too.
Rarr I demand more crimes against humanity.
How did you befriend the Remnants? Was Nexerelin enough, or is there another mod for that?
Nexerelin, in prims freeport bar you will find remnant contact
@@tugasakhir44 Thank you!
This got me into the game… any experienced player here capable of explaining Transverse jump to me? Does it let me jump across the sector or only into the specific system with the grav well?
It lets you leave a system without using a jump point, or enter one without using a jump point if you're close to a high-gravity object (such as a star) of that system
Can't believe that the superweapon mod got lock due to a sperg arguing over sprites
Please use this save file to conquer the whole galaxy :D
How the hell do you allied with the revenants???
Did you know that selling drugs is also one of the fastest way to become rich irl?
I might have to try this.
