Normal cases: Dust filters, positive air pressure
This case: "Hello Dust"
Could work with a generous amount of dust filters, air purifiers, having a anti dust bath for everyone coming home, people changing clothes whenever they come to the room.
Dead skin makes some dust too so that would be the only hindrance, but a protective suit would fix that.
@@For3xampleJohn - Hazmat suits are the answer these days.
I havent had a case on my computers for a while, just blast them with compressed air every now and then. I dont, but you could.
@@Away0G all depends on the area you live in & where the desktop is placed.
Good for you that your desktop(s) works fine without a case.
It would not be that Bad actually. I have an ncase M1 were 4 fans with no Filters are installed. In the one year I that I got this case there is practically no dust in there in comparison to my Crystal 460x. I think it really depends on the airflow. I have my fan curves so low because a small case can vent heat much easier than a big sealed Metal Container. Oh fyi my computer sits on the desk, that also helps a lot
Linus: "What could go wrong?"
Linus: "Oh. Non-ferrous screws."
Always go for the big cube cases because it's so easy to build in, also if it's bigger it most be better also paint the case red for extra speed.

@@BillyONeal Most higher-end FlexATX PSUs like Delta or FSP will generally be 80+ Gold

"I love my case!"
"Hey dude, need a glass of water?"
Oh shi-
I do like the silicone floppy cabling.
Braided cables wear out and grow hair, and bulky cables feel like you are going to break them if you bend too far.
Silicone wiring (they are wires not really cables :b) can also be a higher gauge since they have finer cores
Silicon also is incredibly heat resistant. So that’s a plus.
"taking a PC to visit a friend" is exactly the sort of scenario where I want a case.
Exactly^^
but not a tank :D You could easily get a housing for that thing but honestly I would build a thing like this from the ground up instead of paying over 100 bucks for it lmao

Delta is the OEM for a lot of server power supplies, which are about the same size and come in 500-800W and manage a Titanium rating. Small is not necessarily inefficient.

I actually watched this because I just did an open system build on a TV mount and have a 4090 FE. Got a little hot on Hell Divers 2 on max but never got over 80. That was before adjusting fan speeds on the GPU but didnt have time to test after fan speeds were adjusted. CPU does great though.

Something like that for a mineral oil cooled PC might work. Sort out the power button, use Thunderbolt (so all your I/O is from a dock) and then you can just build it and submerge it. Easier than the older mineral oil PC builds.

This is literally Lego for adults.

@@Oscarcat37 It depends, from the point of view of pricing it's definitely for adults. @@woowoo7813 YES - are you telling me I was wrong my whole adulthood and I was constantly fitting something wrong into something wrong?
I had a case with MASSIVE gaps all over it (it was a weird one I designed/made in school), so it wasn't enclosed and you learn to live with the naked freedom of being without side panels, and ironically dust can be not as much of an issue as I thought it would be because dusting it is so easy you don't mind having to do it more
That CPU cooler on that motherboard is so satisfying. It just fits so perfectly.
Fun fact, if there's no chips on the bottom, bottom cooling a board is even more effective, because what you're making contact with is copper on the bottom of the board and not just plastic packages which can't transfer as much heat.
That's true, assuming there are a reasonable number of vias on the section of the board in contact with the thermal pad... I would imagine most motherboards are chock-a-block with vias, but I've also noticed that even fairly expensive boards (like the Asus X570 ProArt) these days seem to be surprisingly thin with fewer layers than I would have guessed... I suppose it's cost-saving?
only if the board is made with that in mind, either through via's or the aluminum core pcb's used for led chips at times. Most pcb's use fiberglass, which isn't a great conductor of heat.
@@animefreak5757 Which is what via stitching is for.
I recall the Antec Skeleton case about 15 years ago. Open air design, looked futuristic and had one huge fan on top with RGB lighting. I had to blow the dust away, weekly, but it was an excellent design.
Also don't make a phonecall too close to yout caseless pc :P
@E.L. Crisler well if is a office space with AC then that explains where all the dust went, anywhere with a window thou will need a dust wiping at least once a week
@E.L. Crisler same have an open test bench type case and between the ac and HEPA filter in my office/den it accumulates very very little dust. Stays super cool and looks great.
I had this! It got a lot of attention at LAN parties, but I did have to de-dust for each and every one - and I was perpetually nervous about someone spilling their mountain dew on the thing.
I would have loved this case back then. The Skeleton was great in its own way, but it was extraordinarily clunky to carry around.

Linus: this could have all been prevented if the instructions were clear.
Also Linus in every other build video: who needs instructions!
To be fair, you don't really need instructions unless it's a really unusual case like this.
You are supposed to read the entire instructions before starting to account for those situations. Not learn as you go.

Why is this so expensive?!
There's more packing material than case material. It's like the gamer equivalent of buying a designer g-string.
Small volume doesn't explain this entirely. The cost is probably not even a quarter of the sale price. It's just a given that these small cases have a ridiculous margin.
@El Dimos Karam "research" my ass, not a damn thing in this product is new.

LOL wow just noticed the Steve1989 reference in the time stamps. Nice
Such a niche reference
You can easily do noctua fan mod/swap for the flex psu. It's pretty common move on the sff comunity.
That's actually kinda rad. I might use something like that for my next build
I understand this video is for fun and the item is more a novelty, conversation piece but for those who are asking the question of “case vs caseless” literally…cases are important for numerous reasons. Dust, animals, accidents, spilling drinks/food, acoustics, moving locations/homes, etc. Also, air movement over components is better than free releasing heat/air both for cooling and cleaning. Then there are physical safety reasons for children and animals from electric shock or body parts in attached moving fans.
If you are determined to go caseless, you are better off just building the thing into your motherboard's cardboard box it came in. Have a case fan kept in place via double sided tape/zip ties blow air towards the VRMs, and you are done. Paying some $179 for this thing doesn't make much sense.
It's a pretty hobo mode PC, but if you are situating the PC somewhere it is very unlikely to get anything spilled/knocked on it, and you don't have any kids or pets running around, then sure. At least cleaning the dust off will be easy if you have no case.
@@DruidEnjoyer Or if you want something fancier, get a piece of wood and some brackets, paint it any color you want (or not) and just screw the components to that. you can go doublesided like the case in the video, or singleside if you want.
@@heygek2769 I would not recommend wood for a PC, due to safety reasons (it could be a fire hazard).
@@jankoodziej877 lol.
@@jankoodziej877 Nothing under normal use circumstances get hot enough in your PC to ignite wood or even get anywhere close to the required temperatures. Unless there's a short circuit, but at that point even most regular PC cases are in danger of catching fire, as those plastics used in them are also quite flammable under the wrong circumstances.
Moral of the story really is: Don't short circuit your components.
