When it was revealed she survived a lightsaber wound as a youngling while Qui-Gon (A Jedi MASTER, mind you) quickly passed on from his wounds, that right there was the moment she hit Rey’s level of plot contrivance BS.
It's dumber when you remember she was a kid when she was stabbed, meaning the wound would be much bigger due to her smaller body, meaning the damage would be more serious, thus making it even more insane she managed to survive it.
When did Rey get stabbed with a lightsaber?

She redeems her evil ways in the end but still committed those acts. Even if Anakin was like "my bad Obi-wan" after force choking Padme he'd still have to answer for the crimes he did commit, but Reva gets a pass because..........plot
Vader is known for killing those who disobey orders. We see this in the OT, games, comics etc. Reva consistently disobeys chain of command yet she's never killed because........plot. Vader even defeats her easily and instead of finishing her off like he would do and has done to several others they just let her live because.......plot
Her entire character is basically a plot device to drive the plot forward with no rhyme or reason to it but if you call out any of the bad writing you're a racist apparently. At least on Twitter anyway.
Reva didn't survive because of plot, she survived when she should not have for possible spin-offs. The Kai edit is watchable as it under plays Luke and Reva significantly, but nobody can fix how the show screwed up Canon.

Since we all dislike Reva as a character. I recommend everyone here to play Jedi: Fallen Order. The Second Sister is HOW you do an story where it showed a Jedi turned Inquisitor and you can sympathize with her. Trilla in Fallen Order isn't annoying and a very interesting character. Also it's canon to the main Star Wars timeline

While Holdo is by far the worst, Reva was fairly garbage. She's a poorman rehash of Trilla from Jedi Fallen Order, except devoid of the poise, authority, threat or tragedy. She's loud, obnoxious, one-dimensionally angry, even the more useless Inquisitors berate her, yet she gets away with everything until her laughable attempt to kill Vader. Her backstory is over the top sappy drama.
She is, simply put, female Kylo Ren. And on top of that, she survives. Like.....who would even care about her except shoving her in garbage comics like they did with Qi'ra and the Knights of Ren ?
On a different note, Nomz, I also had the same experience as you, as I had to upload a small video on the Italian dub for Sleeping Beauty, and how it was mishandled in later releases. As soon as it was ready, Disney had already claimed the content and demonetized. That's the Maus for you.

The other Inquisitors looking and talking down to Reva because of her background also made no sense because according to Disney’s canon, all of the Inquisitors come from the same background as former Jedi.

@@ChevalierEntertainment Not willingly. Reva actively chose to become an Inquisitor and went to the Empire to do so as part of her plan of revenge against Sith. The others were all kidnapped and tortured or brainwashed, like Trilla Suduri, a far better character. Reva made the choice to join the Inquisitors, was by far the most violent and aggressive without reason to the point that the others need to tell her to stop, and yet she's supposed to be the good one.

All the smack talks on Jar Jar Binks made me realize that people just don't appreciate experimenting with ideas anymore. And I agree that he could have done much worse. Like Rian Johnson level of worse, not even well-meaning experiments.

Even if she could somehow hide among the dead, how did she even get out of the temple. It was guarded and Obi Wan and Yoda only got in was by killing the remaining guards while the bulk were at the senate. How did Reva even get out
Screw this series. Vader orders the entire ship to turn around for Obi-Wan, letting the rebels go, (instead of using a magnetic beam, or sending tie-fighters, or just keep firing...)... but ends up getting into his shuttle and flying after it himself , thus missing out on the rebels for no reason at all. Obi-Wan trusts Leia to some random rogue who has already seeded his transmitter...
The duel with Vader is miserable. They wave their swords like baseball bats in episode 9, and the Force has generally turned into an anime - they crush rocks and make craters in the ground, but they can’t break each other’s bones in the same way ... they can withstand the blows of multi-ton boulders ... Obi-Wan, without jokes, becomes a god thanks to the power of friendship and lifts weight much more than Yoda ... at some point he hits Vader with the HILT of the sword ... cuts his back, but that doesn’t paralyse him ... and most importantly, he doesn’t finish him off for the second time, although he himself said his friend is dead...
Vader does not call the cruiser to shoot down Obi-Wan's ship, but it turns out that he has a hyperdrive, which makes the whole last episode even more pointless, since he and Leia could fly to Alderaan on it all this time already at the end of episode 4 .. .
Owen and Beru do not set any traps for Reva in the doors, they only shoot her one at the time, do not catch up with her on a speeder, do not evacuate on the speeder, do not call the local police, the same Jabba the Hutt (with the promise of money), and Luke is advised to run on foot into the desert, to the Tuskens...
Apparently Vader just left Reva a ship…Reva with a hole in her HEART can easily fight, run and carry weights ... And finally, she, who cuts off the hands of all those who disagree, throws knives at people, kills everyone in her path, hunts the Jedi trying to kill them, tortures a 10-year-old child , suddenly cannot kill Luke, because he sees himself in him (but not in Leah) ... by the way, why? Does she know he's Vader's son? How?
And Obi-Wan forgives her, although he saw what she was doing and Tala died because of her...
Now the whole Empire knows that Bail Organa communicates with Obi-Wan, they are looking for him all over the galaxy, but at the same time Obi-Wan quietly flies to Alderaan to chat with Leia...
Obi-Wan communicates with Luke, although Owen told him in A New Hope that he died at the same time as his father ... Qui-gon, it turns out, can appear without any meditation, but the whole series did not do this ...
On your last note: Owen tells Luke that Obi-Wan died at the same time as his father, but Luke knows about and recognizes "Old Ben". When he brings Ben up at supper, Owen tells him to forget about "the crazy old wizard". So presumably, Luke had spoken to "Ben" before and Owen didn't approve of their friendship. Also, in the OT Obi-Wan manifests several times without meditation: first on Hoth when he tells Luke to seek out Yoda; then on Dagobah when he tries stop Luke from going to Cloud City; then Dagobah again when Luke confronts him about the truth of Vader's identity; and finally just before credits roll at the end of RotJ. In fact, as far as I can tell, Force ghosts just show up whenever they feel like it, whether the person they're manifesting for is meditating or not.

Also interesting is the design of Reva.
If you look at any other inquisitor, they all have a fantasy design element. Just look at any of them and you’ll see (for better or worse) fantasy design choices, elaborate costume/make up, special equipment as part of their costume etc.
Reva’s design? She’s black. Her DESIGN is literally a regular black human. That is the design. That’s what she was designed to be. They didn’t bother to actually conceptualize the character. They simply said “we are going to insert a black woman here” and then tried to write a character around that.
I was pretty stoked to see these intimidating inquisitors… and then. Oh yep. Here we go…. Forced “diversity”.
All of the other inquisitors (even the grand inquisitor when he's in his tie fighter) have helmets or some form of headgear, meanwhile reva gets absolutely nothing.

I am thoroughly convinced that you can only "enjoy" most of today's main-stream entertainment by completely turning off your brain. You want believable characters and a cohesive storyline that doesn't shit the bed within the first one or two episodes? Can't have that, just consume product and be distracted by memberberries, loud noises and pretty lights. What a sorry state everything i've loved throughout my childhood is in now... Star Wars, Star Trek, soon Lord of the Rings... everything has gone to shit.

As I expected, Reva's motives make no sense. She saw that Vader killed her friends, therefore...she is angry at Obi-Wan who trained him for not saving her? (Why didn't he just say "I was on Utapau, attacked by clones"?) And therefore she serves Vader, hunts all remaining Jedi, tries to kill them, chops hands off and tortures a child to find the Rebels? She is a horrible person and I cheered when she was stabbed...but then she lived.
By the way, in the original script Reva and her friends faced Anakin alone and she escaped, while he killed the others. She saw from behind that clones were killing Jedi and decided that all of them were killing kids like Anakin. She didn't know he was Darth Vader and that's why she worked for him and hates the Jedi, until Obi-Wan told her who he is. Then she stopped pursuing him, returned to Vader and said that she killed him, Vader finished her after that.

Why couldn’t Cody have been in place of Reva? A purge trooper with an obsession of hunting down Kenobi, and a clone who actually has a past with him? I liked Kenobi but Reva dragged the whole thing down, and I can’t help but think most people would have, at the very least, enjoyed it if Cody was the more prominent antagonist

4:19 Jar Jar is a mildly annoying comic relief character. That's all, nothing about him is even half as bad as the characters Disney has created in the last few years.
I think Reva’s survival would make more sense if she and Anakin had never encountered each other. Maybe she could’ve heard what was going on or been one of the younglings who got out while her friends didn’t make it. It’d make more sense than how they presented it in the show. This is coming from someone who likes the show but can admit it could’ve been better.

i had so many discussion regarding this topic and i cannot believe that so many people think that this tv-series is good and reva is a well written character.

I don't find the "this was made for kids, so therefore it cannot be criticized" defense compelling. Particularly when combined with the "people (in this case, children) like it, therefore it must be good" defense. All you've done is provide an explanation of the motive for why this artistic decision was made and assume that because it had the desired effect, that is the end of the discussion. If I was critiquing someone's cooking of a meal, and they only made cookies or some other junk food (rather than a real meal) for the children (who obviously ate it happily), would I be able to criticize it because it lacked nutritional content and it wasn't a real meal? Or would you say "the kids liked it, end of discussion"?

Normally I'd agree, but Jar Jar is a bit of an odd case so both the "this was made for kids" defense and the "people like it" defense actually work. First the "this was made for kids" defense works because being made for kids is the main criticism, so he cannot be criticized simply for existing to make kids laugh. Secondly the "people like it, therefore it must be good" argument is perfectly valid when we're talking about comedy. Media is judged on two things, 1: entertainment value (how fun the piece was upon first viewing) and 2: Quality or how good something is (how well it executed it's plot, characters etc). Comedy is different in the way that both it's entertainment and quality are based of how much people liked it, so children liking the childish comedic relief of Jar Jar validates his existence.

Not to mention there were a series of Theory Videos that came out around the first movie in the new Star Wars trilogy on Jar-Jar Binks. They actually were stating he could've been a Sith Lord posing as a complete buffoon and Ally. This theory goes back to how he was the one to help elect Chancellor Palpatine into the Senate and all of that in the Prequels. ..And people were noting how he was out in the middle of a warzone and stuff bumbling around without getting shot. They connected that with a 'Drunken Boxing' fighting style we have here on Earth mixed with the use of the force in being able to dodge all the projectiles.
Honestly Jar-Jar would've made a SUPURBLY better Sith Lord in the new Trilogy than Emperor Palpatine...AGAIN.... I'm honestly so Heart-Broken they didn't run with that idea based on all of the theories surrounding it back when Star Wars had a better reputation! It would've been such a Shocker and painted Star Wars into a better light!

I agree with pretty much all of this, though I'd argue that she's not so much a character as a Caricature. Specifically in so much as: "a picture, description, or imitation of a person in which certain striking characteristics are exaggerated in order to create a comic or grotesque effect." More so grotesque than comic in this case.

This show for me is the final nail in the coffin. I really held on hope after seeing the Mandalorian and Clone Wars season 7, but at this point I’m only gonna return for the bad batch when it comes out. There is another example of her incompetence combined with plot contrivance. She voluntarily joined the inquisitors because she wanted to get close enough to Darth Vader to kill him. But we see her having a face to face meeting with Vader early on. Why didn't she try to kill him then? Because the plot required us to still think that she was evil then. The "twist" in her character had to be saved for later on. I would expect that once she joined the inquisitors, she would have immediately started stalking Darth Vader, learn about his location and ambush him at the first opportunity. Instead she waited and waited, somehow forgetting the reason she joined the inquisitors.
Remember when the Inquisitors were a GOOD Antagonist Force in the Jedi Knight Games?

I couldn't watch it past 1/2 through the first episode. I kept it on in the background while doing other things, tuning in here and there, but it go so bad by the third episode I couldn't even do that and had to turn it off. Absolutely MIND BLOWING how bad disney star wars is. If it was even kind of good I would have spent hundreds of bucks on all sorts of bullshit. I can't believe how badly Disney fucked the pooch on this one and all for the sake of a soulless political ideology.

I dunno if she's a particularly bad character, she just should have been cut from Kenobi, or at least have her role be cut down significantly. The show did not have enough content to fill six episodes, and she is a very obvious example of the padding that really weighs the show down around the middle.

The Reva character couldn't have been pulled off by any actress. I have never seen Moses Irgrim in any other show/movie, but based on this character, she is a horrible actress. That's not saying she is actually a bad actress. This character was written horrifically.

If reva was just an unhinged jedi looking for revenge and she encountered Obi-Wan it would have been much better than her slaughtering jedi as an inquisitor to try to get revenge somehow, someday. Was just poor writing from the jump.
I really agree with the "Only adults hate Jar-jar". But it could've been phrased better like "Star Wars fans who think the original trilogy is God's gift to men and anything after that is automatically terrible"
To me, Rey “Skywalker” is worse only because she was supposed to be the Anakin, the Luke, of the sequel trilogy. The main character through whom we experience the movies, who’s emotional journey we follow to a hopefully satisfying conclusion. And she completely and utterly failed to be a compelling character unlike the other two.
Reva was pretty bad though, especially how she can apparently survive being stabbed with a lightsaber multiple times, including once as a youngling. I was just numb to it by that point though. The sequels had trained me to expect disappointment.
Your lightning rod statement is very apt. If anything, with a lot of these recent Disney products from the last 2-3 years or so, my guess is that there is a lot of lightning rods they have made to deflect some actual criticism. Doesn’t have to be a POC character written poorly, but could have been anything else, even irl events and circumstances to redirect negative reviews into some other avenue.
Reva's only characteristics are being black and angry. Really unfortunate when you think about it.
...I mean, why can't they work from ground up? Construct a compelling character without thinking about what they look like. Give them all the motivations, effective dialogues, and moving character moments, and then decide what their appearance would be. Seriously at that point they could've been designed into a three-eyed green alien and the audience would still cheer for them.

ive never seen so many nonsensical scenes , situations put to film in one tv show . the writers and directors of kenobi really do think us the audience are stupid or it was done intentionally as a big up yours to us , probably both. you could make a full series of videos about all the plot holes and conveniences in this show multiple hours long
