  • This week on CCLemon99.com I wrapped up my month-long series of daily reviews of every Akina Nakamori album (plus a couple of extras). Start at the beginning here: www.cclemon99.com/2018/04/aki... Or skip ahead to my Top Seven List of Favorite Albums here: www.cclemon99.com/2018/04/top...
    ---------------------
Welcome to my review of SHFiguarts VulShark [バルシャーク] from Taiyo Sentai SunVulcan [太陽戦隊サンバルカン]!
Before you read this review, I recommend going to my review of SHFiguarts VulEagle and read my glowing review... I'll wait... Oh, did I say glowing? I meant scathing. When I initially looked at SHF VulEagle I absolutely hated it. It's doofy proportions, scant accessories, and lackluster quality brought me to a final verdict--Super Sentai Figuarts are dead. Looking back, I should change my name to CCNostradamus99. Super Sentai Figuarts may have died a swift death after that figure was released, but not before a set of two more figures slid out of it's rancid corpse.
SHFiguarts VulShark comes with his Vulcan Stick and several hands.
While my review of VulEagle had nothing nice to say outside of "I like his belt", I probably could have said more. He is very red as well. VulShark is very blue and also has a nice belt, but I actually think they did a good job on his helmet this time around. While VulEagle is just...off, this guy actually looks really good and has some excellent detail on the teeth and whatnot. It really makes the figure worthwhile.
For the bad...well, it's based on that new Super Sentai body type that lasted exactly two regular releases (Akaranger and VulEagle). It sucks. While there were complaints about earlier Sentai Figuarts being too frail looking, they were properly proportioned and all had a consistent scale. This new body type, while trying to be more realistic, looks odd. The bodies are bigger, but the helmets are more on scale with the old body type. Outside of this, the quality is inconsistent. VulShark, for example, ejects his left leg every time I try to pose him. That VulShark one-leg pose? Forget it. He won't do it. He won't do any poses much more exciting than standing bolt upright without his damn leg falling off. The lack of accessories and fully painted boots are still present...
After hating on VulEagle so damn much you might be wondering why I gave this set a shot. I'm kinda wondering that myself, but considering I paid $0 for it, I guess that really helped. Seriously...rewards cards are rad as long as you never pay interest.
Stay tuned for next time. I'll be taking a look at the better (or worse) half of this set. Beyond that...I need to practice my chants to bring a certain Eagle back from Hades. Maybe if I say "Follow The Sun. Catch The Sun." three times in a mirror he will return...

Idk what’s more indicative of Sentai figuarts, the fact that these were the note the line went out on, or the fact that I didn’t even know this set existed before this video

It's not horrible, but I have no idea why Toei seems so damn in love with it.
