I'm in the process of setting up a grow tent full of racking so I can have larger totes and grow many strains at the same time.
For lighting I'm using LED tape lighting cut to the exact length of the shelving and mounted below each shelf so it's above where the tote is.
I'm also setting up a smaller tent which will be set up for inoculation, will have a positive pressure air flow via hepa filter with a hepa purifier inside. Allows me to sterilise the tent from top to bottom when going to use it and it's only going to be used for open work as can block all the vents and seal the door behind me

Dave White people don’t relate it in mj industry, these figures come from the light company themselves as a comparison to HID, this led company in particular as saying you can achieve the same yield as a 1500w light when that’s clearly an overstatement by several times the actual output, no beef with willy, just saying he needs to correct the video to say 150w

Willy i am not sure that LED draws 1500w from the wall? 1500w is a huge amount of light for a 5 x 5 space. 1000w is the required wattage for cannabis in a tent of that size, so for mushrooms that seems very very overkill. I think you may have that wattage wrong, or believed the manufacturers marketing which is often a lie with LED grow lights . The unit looks like it draws no more than 200 watts. Maybe purchase a plug in watt meter to confirm and let us all know? Thanks mate :)

    • @aaronproctor4745

Glad the importance of light is finally making it into the mycology community, I still remember arguing on the forums way back in the day about this and the general consensus being that I was wrong and a tiny CFL would produce the same results as grow lights with proper spectrum and much higher PPFD. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Good info! but people need to know this, when you buy and LED grow light don't believe the wattage as that's not the wattage that the light is actually pulling its the "Equivalent Wattage" compared to others like Metal Halide/High pressure sodium/Fluorescent Tube(T5). And its not usually even close they just like to put high numbers to sell them to growers that are used to the other old style lights. Now with LED lights the high wattage doesn't actually matter as much as there so efficient good name brand ones will put out about 30-50% more lumens/watt in comparison. I'm not sure how much light you actually need for mushrooms as I'm still learning but i doubt you need as much as if you were growing cannabis witch is what I'm used to. If you really want a good light and have the cash check out Fluence or Mars Hydro as they are some of the best Mars being on the cheaper side but not as good quality compared to fluence.

Many studies have shown Mushrooms respond very well to blue and green wave length light .. the Watt range you're listing for LED seems like overkill for a 5x5 in my opinion (but i rather have too much than not enough 😁) .. TBH someone should really test for where the efficiency range is for mushrooms and DLI (daily light integral) . Also I assume/hope that QB is a 1500 watt HPS equivalent ,Based on ppm/par (light intensity)

Then apparently you've never seen mushrooms grown in the dark.
The mushrooms will grow opposite gravity. I don't care how much light you use. That's their primary cue.
Certain species of mushrooms are regularly grown in the dark, such as agaricus bisporus.
Mushrooms are primarily gravitropic. Some species are also secondarily phototropic. They do not need light to know which way to grow

Does he have an exhaust fan pulling air out if the tent?? Or just fans in the tent? I'm confused how he gets fresh air flowing in. The humidifier doesn't give enough for this big of a tent

1200w actual wattage is WAYYYYYY TOO MUCH, but be mindful that the LED lights advertised as “1200 series” are really only 120w actual draw.

Hey Willy, do you think a VivoSun 195 4inch fan would be big enough for a 4x4 grow tent? also was thinking about the vivosun VS 1000 with the Samsung diodes

@Willy’s World I’m in the process of setting up my gourmet mushroom business. Lighting has been a struggle to figure out. I will be running a 10x10 tent for my fruiting room and was wondering your thoughts. Ive seen a lot of people using the light strip rolls. Wondering what kind I should be looking for and how much of it
