When I think of the Martin sound, then this is what I hear. I guess that backward shifted x-bracing wasn't so bad after all.
I love the sound of this guitar!!! ❤️
absolutely love that Martin sound. I have a D35 and a J40 to go along with my Gibson J45. each has its own personality. This D28 sounds great. Perfect balance of richness and string separation. Nice instrument.
Love the sound of this guitar.
Great sounding. Thanks Paul and Quinton.
Looks cool, sounds amazing, and I love the laid back vibes in these videos
I was very lucky to accidentally pick one up just the other day. I don't care too much about Rich Robinson or any signature models. This Guitar has o much appeal and personality, the moment I held it and started to play I knew this was the one. Feels fantastic, great neck a bit on the chunky side, rich and balanced sound and sustain for days.
I would love to own a Martin D28 or D18. Wife and I can't afford that much for a guitar. She did get me an early Christmas present though. The Yamaha FG3. $839. Ridiculously good guitar for that price. It's perfect for me.
If you’re spending less than Martin prices, Yamaha is the best value out there. I’m sure it’s a great sounding axe, I still have my F36s that sounds better than most J45s I’ve played!
I have always been more of a forward shifted guy, but I feel like this particular model is better than most of the original 50s D-28s I have played.
It'd be pretty cool if you guys could review a Martin Johnny Cash D35. Maybe compare it with the standard one. I love your reviews!
Beautiful-sounding guitar. It's like it destroys all our prejudice against a non-scalloped, rear-shifted bracing!
When I bought my 2008 D28 I didn’t really know anything about the bracing. I just loved the sound. Since then I’ve read that it’s supposed to be inferior to the other versions. Me, I like the crisp sweet tones from it. Still plenty of bass but loud, sharp and balanced. Gets better every year too. Love it.
Finally like the sound of a Martin guitar. It sounds like a great Gibson!!!
You should have played " She Talks To Angels" by Black Crows. Fab song. Great demo. I still can't get over the new Martin Super Dreadnought you demo'd.
Love n respect. Dean 🇬🇧
That has the sweet mellow sound of a lifelong companion, pour another glass and settle in for the evening…
I’ve just got to say, I walked in to my local store today looking for a mandolin, of all things, and saw this old untagged beat up guitar hanging in the corner where they usually have the cheaper new guitars. I picked it up gave it one strum and my jaw dropped. I’ve got an amazing HD-28 that is my workhorse. This is not that guitar. I also had an old 1967 J-55 that had the most amazing light, open, airy sound. It had that super narrow late-60s Gibson neck that I just could play, though. This thing has all of that and more. I really had no idea that it was relic’d until I looked inside and saw the label. The aging is really, really natural looking and more importantly, it really feels like one of my old guitars that I beat up myself. Needless to say, I bought the damn thing. Will have to sell a bunch of gear to pay for it, but have no problem with that. Martin really did do something special here.
Sounds incredible!
I just love this Martin D28 sound. I have a 2006 HD-28, it sounds perfectly balanced from bass to treble, I can’t fault it. It beats my Furch Red Delux GC-SR which sounds great but a little too trebly compared to my Martin, maybe it just needs more age to help close the gap.
jangly is what I'd say, i really wanna play one of these tbh
Also, Quentin's guns are becoming AK-15s.
incredible recreation of a 50’s D-28. i’ve played two of these RR models and they are very balanced and project.
similar to my 58 D-28 from the same era. I much prefer those 50’s Martin’s. imho. 🎧
Very good sounding.
coolest guitar ive ever seen
My D35 is getting dings and dropping in value. I should get on the Opry.
Sounds like the rearward bracing takes away some of the base,It’s amazing how much value you get from an HD 28 at almost 1/3 the price
Depends if you want more bass. This is braces this way for a reason ans will give you things an HD28 can't also. Something for everyone
One of the best guitar I never played.
I like this
Silly distressed finish for middle schoolers I guess. Make sure you get some of those pre shredded jeans to go along with it. lol!
My D2R Is a D28 with same wood and specs,The D2R was discontinued it’s a D28 and sounds as good as any Martin made. I know why they discontinued making the D2R ,instead of spending 5000 for D-28 ,you can get the same spec guitar at around 900 dollars.
Only $4K more for all those scuffs and dings? I'll take two! : )
Great point!!! I agree 100%!!!
Die Preise sind wirklich inflationär.
Not really. It’s a Custom Shop instrument that is actually priced $1,000 less than the Aged D-28 in the Authentic Series.
The real question is what is less expensive these “Aged” recreations of vintage Martins or the vintage Martins themselves. I’m not sure, but if I had to guess I would say these are less expensive.
