    Thanks for the review. I bought a G3 after watching your review. (Using your link of course!)
    My B350 3.5mm jack was starting to fail, so I try G3. Just as you said, G3 is mostly the same as a highend board. G3 is slightly better than mid range B350. G3 drives my DT770 80ohm better. I also have a 7yrs GE60 laptop. G3 is much better than GE60 onboard audio. And saving setting in G3 itself is convenient.

    So the last time I used onboard audio was around the Pentium 4 time. I really thought by now this would have been highly improved, but listening to the recording of the Asrock Z390 mic-in with all that background noise really makes me think we haven't come any further in this particular solution.

    I was a Sound Blaster fan boy back in the day when on board audio consisted of a tiny speaker for beeps. The Audigy was a great addition in the 90's but has lost their status with standard MOBOs having good solutions on board. On the fence with the new products from SB, might give them another shot.

    Another tip for people with sound issues: plug in your set of speakers to a different place than the place where your PC is powered from. This prevents a feedback loop to your speakers via the ground wires leaking electricity that is looped back into your speakers.

    Many of those features are already available in their Create MB line of softwares. You can use their MB3 on any soundcard in Windows (around US$30), and few mainboards came out with the same stuff, except it's called MB5. But 60 bucks for a USB sound-card that works on different platforms and gives you an edge sound-wise in fps due to the scout-mode, that doesn't sound too shabby!

    I have 3 sets of headphones and 4 monitors. What I'd like sound cards to do is assign applications to audio devices. I want the game and desk mic to play game audio and one of the monitors playing a podcast or audio book. When I'm VOIP i want to use the headphone mic. Sometimes I'm watching a movie on the deck so if it's assigned to the monitor that folds to the outside deck I want the audio played over the soundbar. But still Play games with the audio using the headphones. I got windows to do this by accident once but don't know how. I can't belive this is not a thing yet.

  • @Skitzotech
    @Skitzotech Před 4 lety

    What about the volume? I have purchased 5 usb sound cards and 4 of them have a very disappointing max volume.
    I like my headphones to have the ability to be "slightly unbearable" when at max volume. Meaning it needs to "just about" start hurting my ears when maxed out.
    Reason I am a gamer and I set my EQ very weirdly. I go super heavy on the low bass, light on the mid and high bass (because these wash out many sounds), heavy on the mids (cuz footsteps) and light on the highs (because highs wash out many sounds).
    This ends up being too taxing on the amps. When a boom hits or in a large vehicle it starts distorting sounds. The one usb soundcard that worked PERFECTLY for me was the PX22 from turtle beach. Had it for like 6 years and it dies like 2 years ago and i have been buying others like crazy trying to find one thats good enough.

    Creative is just missing all the point nowadays... It's sad that they never improved the S/PDIF quality and remains the same though that's not creative fault, BUT nowadays to get true highest resolution audio specially surround, dolby atmos and other better improved stuff specially on consoles sadly is only trough HDMI and creative doesn't offer anything cheap that I'm sure console people really needs while it's pointless in the PC.
    We need a god damn good quality audio sound card from creative with their good software that could be saved into the sound card and HDMI decoding with the newest standards for all consoles, I have some 5.1 speakers for my PS4 but I just don't use them as I use a crap 5.1 low quality dolby digital decoder from tritton via optic, I only play in 5.1 in the PC with a Auzentech soundcard and better, more powerful speakers... I really needed at least a 5.1 HDMI decoder for the PS4 Pro and upcoming PS5 but something that won't cost the price of the console or anywhere close and with decent quality and without causing input lag.
