Yeah, but it's was the nail in the coffin, and he missed. I'm a Falcons fan, and it's the only super bowl they've gone too was super bowl 33. However, Vikings should've won the game. They had two missed touchdown opportunities that they settled for field goals. That game was just not their game.

Been a falcons fan since i was 5..(48 now,hehe)...i watched that game overseas i knew atlanta had less than a 30% chance of winning, but as they say...ANY GIVEN SUNDAY...if they played 5 times vikings would win 4 of them...just an honest fact...but the falcons came with their best A game and prepared themselves well for the noise...to me this was atlanta's superbowl because yes i agree the bronco's would have had their ass handed to them by the Viking's.Chandler was on fire too and the defense was nearly on point,2 field goals by 2 anderson's ,is what got me...1 miss and 1 goal...thats what football is all about.

All these comments are whack. Let's not forget, when Gary Anderson missed the score was still Vikings 27 - 20. The DEFENSE let Atlanta march right down the field and tie the game. Then the DEFENSE let Atlanta drive for the game winning field goal. The DEFENSE let Minnesota down. The offense didn't help in OT either.

Gary Anderson is right up there with Morten in the all-time stats and was a two-time NFL All-Decade team member just like he was. I think this missed FG is the main reason he has never gotten serious consideration for the Hall of Fame, which is a shame.

Something that hardly anyone notices is that a Falcons player come free on the right side of the line and leaping towards Anderson. That must have made him try to slice the kick through as much as he could towards the left upright and the ball sailed to far too the left. Who knows, had he kicked it right down the center of the line,it may have been blocked or it might have barely flew by the Falcons player and it would've been good. Plus, the Falcons should've been called for running into the kicker!

Naw, I think your Broncos still would’ve been fine and won the Super Bowl that year anyways. The Vikings defense was pretty mediocre despite how high powered their offense was that year. They couldn’t stop inconsistent Chris Chandler and Jamal Anderson. John Elway and Terell Davis would’ve shredded that defense. But I still think they would’ve gave them a more exciting matchup that year than the Falcons.

It's horrible that ONE PLAY will keep someone from immortality. This may be true for Roger Craig as well, who fumbled late in the 1990 NFC championship game and kept the 49ers from a 3-peat. Jerome Bettis would still be hoping for the Hall of Fame if Big Ben didn't make that ankle tackle. I can't think of any others who are not in the Hall of Fame because of ONE PLAY. Oh, wait, Jim Marshall running the wrong way in a 1964 regular season game?
