Thanks Mark.. Calvin is a great guy.. I met him in Bangkok airport June 2022.. A real straight shooter who would give anyone the shirt off his back.. He's doing alot of good for the less fortunate.. A very admirable man..

Didn't take me long. The racism stuff was a bit of a red flag, but I went and subscribed and then the first thing I watched was a recent livestream. I was really surprised. He has a real chip on his shoulder, buys into a narrative of people who seek to divide us. For those who say he's got wisdom, I saw very little. Came across as bitter and resentful, was railing against Christianity, and I just have a moral difference from him when it comes to women. Maybe he does a lot of good, and that's great, but he didn't come across then as that guy and he's already lost me.
Calvin is the real deal. I have been a sub of his pretty close to the beginming. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is as humble as a man can be. His advice is invaluable and heartfelt and sometimes brutal, but necessary. lol
I love how at the end of every video he emcourages the viewers to help someone.

Calvin is an awesome dude doing his best with what he's got ! Not enough people are doing as much to help people. What a world it would be if a lot more people were willing to do that ? Many are able w/o the willingness to actually serve others. -- Congrats to Calvin and you too Mark for putting him out there like this for so many to perhaps be inspired by his works.

Mark, you just interviewed a very fine gentleman, "Sunshine Shoulder". Calvin is in his own league in the CZcams world. On September 11 (last week), from Dumaguete, I took a six-hour bus ride up to San Carlos to visit Calvin. Cavin was a gracious host. A real down-to-earth man. I stayed overnight in a small style apartment. Everything was perfect. The apartment room temperature made my visit very comfortable. Calvin gave me an opportunity to be interviewed by him for Calvin's channel. A day or two before visiting Calvin. I visited Ground Zero (I love Ground Zero) and you were there, but I did not want to disturb you because you were in company with 5 other ex-pats. We were facing each other a few feet away. Since February 1977, I have been all over the Philippines. I found Dumaguete City the friendliest Filipino people & ex-pats in the Philippines. Finally, I'm back home in Yokohama, Japan. Next year I will return to Dumaguete City again. Thank you for interviewing Calvin. Semper Fi.

That's right about charities. I remember that was a big issue several years ago with some expat channels. You can't operate a charity in the PH without registering it with the government.

True, and the harassment went on for years. Terence was fearing going to jail.
To be successful on CZcams, your subscribers follow you due to the content of your vlogs, and the subscribers read speak english which does not exist in other countries no read no speak english. Filipinos enjoy reading and following your channel because of the informative contents specially videos of places you visited. Continue the good work and your charitable work.

I ended up on the phone with Calvin to discuss a community service project I had in mind and he couldn’t have been more generous with his sharing of information. Not one thing was mentioned about how he could benefit. He wanted to make sure that my thinking was realistic, legal (charitable services always get a lot of scrutiny due to fraud) and that I was also careful to protect myself in the process. No matter what people think from watching a few videos, when that camera is turned off, this man is kind, humble, generous and passionate about making a contribution to the lives of others.
Hey Mark great video. Calvin is the GOAT! That guy is someone I hope to meet when I get to the Philippines 🇵🇭. You know people only came after him because he was doing something good for others. Those people are called “haters”. They can’t do whatever he is doing and are hating on the fact that God has put him in a place to help others and not them! Mark, great conversation. This comment isnt about the interview with Calvin specifically, but today's video inspired me to comment. Been watching you for a while. Honestly, I initially wasnt sure I liked you much. But the more I've watched, the more I've realized your a really decent guy who takes a genuine interest in people and treats everyone with respect. Even when you probably disagree or have different views, you are understanding and seem to find common ground. That's what we need more of these days. Unfortunately, I'm not in a situation where I expect to be in the Philippines anytime soon (been twice on business). But if that day ever comes, I look forward to a cup of coffee with you.

You know Mark I use to follow Calvin's channel. Then I heard him say somethings that bothered me a lot concerning his attitude about the Philippines
and Filipinas and then I could not watch him any more I am not going to go into a deep dive into it but all I will say is that it took me over 3 hours to watch
this video because there are so many contradictions in it that are disturbing. I am glad that you did this interview because it solidified what I felt about
listening to him. I wish you the best for you and Jen and your new addition that is coming. Would if I were you do some more investigation about getting
social security for your future child. From what I understand you will be able to get social security for your child and Jen will also be able to get it

I’m always skeptical about blacks moving to the Philippines because of their blm and victim mentality. I will give this brother the benefit of the doubt…👍
Not all blacks are the same. That's a stereotype. Me personally I have been harassed and detained by cops. I m a small business owner with a Filipina girl friend. I would never support blm. I also never play a victim I just keep working harder.
I was last in PI in 2005 in Agono Rizal area. I found to be raciest and undercover insulting. I am the same complexion as Calvin. I’m very perceptive to how people accept me. I first noticed it when I was there in the navy in 1978. When I saw what people really felt about me in 2005 what made me feel safe was the fact that most store front businesses had armed security standing at the entrance. When I walk around town with my fiancé guys were always saying condescending remarks under their breath but my wife will tell me what they said, since I didn’t speak to language. I got married, and with my wife finally had her visa in hand. They gave her an exiting interview and told her when she come to America to stay away from Black people. I was so affected by it when I got back to US I started a blog. with the subject line of why do Filipinos hate Black people? It made for a long thread. All of the respondents to my blog were Filipinos, and this validated my point. Filipinos are obsessed with light skin to the point that they use whitening lotions, and some do treatments to lighten their skin. Having said all of that. The racism I experienced in the tPhilippines was all subtle. Nothing was overt. I want to United Methodist Church even the priest made a racist sermon explaining why God prefers the skin tone of Filipinos over dark skin or light skin. When my wife got to America in 2006, the friends she was making told her she was attractive and asked her why was she with a black person because she could have a white person.

Great job, and outlook. I really want to get over there.. All i have to do is figure out how. The last jet i ever boarded was June of 1973. Albany, Ny. to Chicago, and then Denver. Pretty scary ride times 10, for me. Perhaps a cargo ship. That could be 50 day trip...This could be interesting. Also Do cargo ships come in to Mindanao?

15:44 There’s a metric out there that showed Thais having a lot of CZcams daily viewers and the Philippines wasn’t even in it. I find that highly suspect.
I think he meant the expats living in various SE Asian countries who have YT channels.
