The director in an interview mentioned when his grand father died they waited 9 days. (People who can afford to have a family grave at the church cemetery is a big thing) Some of the family members in this have shades and traits of his family members.
This movie screen play won at a competition and Hindi movie laapatha ladies came 2nd.

Great I agree as this movie comes with female leads, much needed but I think the male centric narrative people gave was not so correct, as premalu being one of the biggest hits and aatam being one of the best movies to come out from Malayalam. In aadujeevitham sainu plays a bigger role in the plot as she is the motivation for najeeb to get out of that desert. Now let's come to the male centric movies,
Avesham - mother relationship of ranganna and Bipin is the driver factor. Same for Bramayugham on the Thevan's mother bond. So I think those movies are not anti - women, the plot doesn't require or has time to show them is the point.

I 100% agree and it's a great observation. I hope it does well in the box-office. It's got two phenomenal talents and the trailer looks so damn good.

@abdulbasiththayyil7445 that's true but it never hurts to see more female led movies, especially ones with the likes of Urvashi and Parvathy Thiruvothu. It'll be refreshing to see the two leads here surrounded by talented side characters.

@@abdulbasiththayyil7445 ah, while I haven’t seen Premalu (so can’t comment on that one)…the other films had the leads as firmly focused on the leads. While yes, there are women as narrative driving elements we as the audience don’t get to view in any detail what motivates the women, theirs concerns, emotional life, etc. And I’m not saying that Aavesham needed that. Not at all…I loved that film as is. It just will be refreshing to have the primary focus shifted to a set of female characters (as suggested by this trailer).

@@D54pod yes, I'm looking forward too, but saying malayalam films the one industry in India which always had female centric movies is not considering female life is an oxymoron in general, and I am extremely happy for upcoming movies like paradise, Gaganachari along with ullozhuk.

Looks like he directed the crime documentary Curry & Cyanide on Netflix. Thats based on a very dark murder case here in Kerala.

Watched it yesterday and it was a good movie. I dont want to spoil it in the comment section, but there's no crime involved in the movie as i expected after watched the trailer. Urvashi & Parvathi were excellent as always
