  • In this video I delve into the sport of Field Target rifles and review the 15 year old Air Arms Pro Target FT.
    A wonderfully accurate if not heavy air rifle.

    Nice review Steve. My mate and I did FT in the 90s. He has a pro target. It was state of the art at the time. We sniffed at laminate, aluminium and we regarded it as a light gun. Turns out it was the way to go. As for parts, all you need is O rings and if the regulator is buggered Huma do one.

    I bought one of the mk 1 versions that came out in 1995, sold it a year later for the mk2 in 96,
    Bill Sanders from AA (RIP) actually gave me a custom green and black stock for it which I still have and still use. It still puts pellet on pellet and although I'm.older now and have moved from ft to br, I still enjoy using it.
    Nice review and good to see. Thanks for taking the time.

    I would not have watched this video if I’d known it was about an old gun.
    That said, I really enjoyed your review!
    Being a newer air gunner, this is the first FT review I’ve watched.
    Thank you for your time and effort.

      @@airgunology Dear Steve this was actually one of my Pro Target rifles and if you look at the tape on the buttstock you will see the pellets that I found to be the best - Crosman Premier and with them, it will put pellet on pellet

    Another great review Steve. I've just started using Air Arms 5.52, 16 grain pellets in my BSA R10 SE. The gun is really accurate with them. Every gun appears to perform well with them.

    Think air arms latest ft rifle is the HTP900 .. yes single shot , its the rules ( as I understand ) ..they also do the HFT500 .. they have an FTP900 at my local rfd ( actually went there yesterday for pellets ) its a beauty .. didnt ask the price ... well over £2000 I should imagine ... more adjustability then in steve hawkin's old wheelchair by the lookof it ..

      Yup Mark, it is a whole new ball game when it comes to dedicated target rifles. Nowadays there are a wonder of science and you could easily end up re-mortgaging your house for one :)

    The RN10 and Pro Targets will still compete with newer guns these days in FT / HFT and bench rest. Not much to go wrong with them and they are time proven in all weather outdoor competition. The later FT rifles from Air Arms (EV2 mk1 to mk4) all share some parts with the Pro Target so getting parts is easy enough. Once one is serviced it should run for years without issue. The Mk3 reg is also very good.

    I cannot fault Air Arms guns, my brother was into shooting so I told him to take a look at the spec of the Air Arms S200 which he did , he bought the gun, loved it, bought a custom stock, and with a basic 3-9-40 scope came second in his first ever go at field target shooting :)

      @airgunology  Před 6 lety +1

      AA rifles are very good and normally you can't go wrong with them. the S200 is a cracking rifle.

    A superb rifle. A shame that they stopped making it in favour of the EV2.

    I liked the video but I am having trouble establishing the reason for reviewing it. Rare, hard to find parts for, expensive and too heavy. Accuracy hàs it's price? Thanks for sharing and being honest.

      Some people collect and some people want to buy one, been asked before and managed to get my hands on one with a Wildcat from a subscriber.

      rare rifle , but spare parts are not hard to find , air arms have a full stock of spares for all the rifles they have made over the last 20 years or so.it was a review for the people who don't understand bench rest shooting to the out in the field hunting with a bull pup people, thanks for the comment

      Heavy yes expensive no, parts still available from Air Arms and just as accurate as anything out there. Most genuine FT guns are just as heavy, if not heavier

    Laminated stock wowser! Forgive me I've just started out in this sport but it looks like plywood to me. Smacks a bit of Hans Christian Andersen : The Emperor's New Clothes and I feel like the little boy pointing out the king isn't wearing any! Too controversial or too true?

    • @airgunology
      @airgunology  Před 6 lety

      This was one of the 1st to do this and it is not plywood, trust me. Many of today's modern air rifles have follow suit with special buys of this type of stock along with "standard" stocks.
