  • Have you ever felt insecure? Every once in a while? All the time? We all deal with insecurity at some point or another, no matter how confident we may seem. Why are we so insecure? Because every single day we are confronted with images or people who we believe have everything we don't: perfect jobs, perfect bodies, perfect lives. The reality is we only see a glimpse, the highlight reel, of other's lives, while we see everything, the boring, mundane portions of our own. This makes us feel like we are not "living the life," and everyone else is. So what can we do? No one WANTS to live a life of insecurity! First, Find out what you are good at! What is it that people say is unique and special about YOU! If you are unsure, ask your friends and family. Also, a good book to read is StrengthsFinders by Tom Rath. It has an online survey which will help you to discover what some of your greatest strengths are. Take time to do this, it is extremely important. Often, we look at others and see what they excel at and how we fall short. If we have a good grasp on our own gifts and talents, they won't be called into question when we look at others. Which leads to our second point: Don't be afraid to encourage others. Insecure people pull others down, secure people lift others up! WHY? Because they know that someone else being great and talented takes nothing away from what they add to the world, so don't be afraid to encourage other people while maintaining confidence in what you have to offer. Lastly, don't try to be someone else. You will only ever be second best at being somebody else! If you try to be someone you are not, you will constantly have a feeling of failure because you will ALWAYS fall short! On the contrary, no one else can be you better than you, so it is guaranteed success! So, in summary: 1. Find out what I'm good at 2. Encourage others 3. Be me!
