    Great review and the bike looks just great--great mods, and Rally Raid really has this bike dialed in. RR's products are not cheap, but you get what you pay for, and I imagine the RR suspension upgrade has really made a difference. I hope to have a CB 500x in the garage one of these days, and these would be all the same upgrades I'd make on mine, as well. Great job, well presented--ride safe, stay healthy and we look forward to your next video!

    Great video! Could you put the links to all parts? Also, the rear brake fluid reservoir guard isn't available for the 2021 model, I suppose it's not needed as they moved the little tank to a safer spot?

    • @adventurex4883
      @adventurex4883  Před 3 lety +1

      It's something I've considered. Changing the gearing either for better low-speed trail performance or higher speed cruising performance on the faster roads. I'm happy with stock for now, plus the speedo would be slightly out with a gearing adjustment.

    Good real world mods. Thanks for sharing. Is that foot peg starting to rust or was that just dirt?

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 Před 3 lety +1

      I think it’s a bit of both on the pegs. I went for the unfinished metal version. RR also sell a black set too. On mine you can see the welds, there may be a little oxidisation on the welded or cut areas but nothing to worry about.

  • @GeordiLaForgery

    Nice upgrades you must of spent a small fortune. All I've done to my 16 plate is the scorpion serkat taper, heated grips, cheapo handguards, usb charger/stand and the monolock box. I've ordered a centre stand but there's some delay sourcing one at honda, not many left as the newer models 19+ have a different design centre stand altogether.

      @@adventurex4883 Thanks for getting back to me, money well spent the bike looks great. @Andrew Hoffman made the suggestion to contact Honda with your post to drop the seed of thought cos I'm sure if they had a rummage around in their dressing up box they could find those parts at a fraction of the cost and I'm sure people would pay that price and they'd have a solid gold best seller on their hands. Once again thanks for the info.👍

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 Před 3 lety +1

      Not really, they do cause the abs to activate a little more often if I brake aggressively in the wet, but usually fine.

    Great mods. I'd like to change the tires but can't find knobbies with the same size as OEM for the rear wheel. What are the dimensions of the rear TKC80? Is it tubeless or tubed?

  • @manquz

    Does the L1 suspension kit give a bit of lift to the bike or not? It seems “taller” than standard one

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 Před 4 lety

      The L1 kit is designed to be the same height as stock, the original suspension on my bike had a lot of sag, when I put the RR spring in I could set the bike up properly. It looks a tad higher but it’s not really, when you’re sat on it it’s the height as stock.

  • @christianweller4288
    @christianweller4288 Před 4 lety +3

    All sensible stuff.. Did the suspension upgrade come with damping and rebound control selection?

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks for your comment. On the level 1 kit the forks do not have damping or rebound adjustment, but RR do an additional kit for the top of the forks that does offer that if required, I believe the later models of CB500x have the adjustment as stock though. The rear L1 suspension does have adjustment on the spring. The L2 kit has much more control over the L1 though, plus it has high and low speed adjustments on a separate reservoir for easy access.

      @@andrewstewart106 I’m looking at getting a low mileage S/H XA model for about 3.5k and either rally-raiding or suspension upgrade and bash plate. The 500 benefits from an overhaul of the rear shock and forks for road use and considering where I live it will require little more for off-road.... chalk tracks etc. I really like the first version and think it’s far better looking than the latest.
      Practical too.... F-800s are too tall, too heavy and have way too much power for the slick slippery chalky goo that passes for “green lanes” in the South... not to mention the price.

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 Před 4 lety

      Yea I agree on the looks. For a general upgrade go for level 1, the level 2 will make the bike much more capable though. If I was taller I’d go for the level 2 all day. If you’re considering between the original version or a 2017 onwards model, I’d keep in mind the original model with the cylindrical exhaust has a higher ground clearance with the L2 kit than the newer models. EU emissions regulations meant the newer exhaust style is positioned slightly lower under the sump. The original model with L2 kit and 19” wheel would be my ultimate dream.

  • @JaapV12
    @JaapV12 Před 2 lety +1

    I replaced my footpegs for better ones, but now the left one is too close to the gearpedal. Do you have a solution for this problem?

    • @andrewstewart106
      @andrewstewart106 Před 2 lety

      Maybe there’s a third party lowering or reposition kit, have to admit I hadn’t come across one. After a few rides my foot got used to the steeper angle as the wider peg made the gap shorter.

      When they’re on sale, which is never haha. At £1200 for the RR tubeless rims that’s nearly half the cost of a bike. Would be a good deposit for a Yam T7 that 😁. But yes, gold rims would be the dream.

    @laurenceglew6367 Před 3 lety +1

    I love the look of this bike. But the quandary is justifying the cost of CB500X plus £2k for mods, or just opt for a slightly larger ADV bike with all the mods included (eg a T7).
