    I am an Hourglass junkie and own, use & have repurchased so many of their products. I’ve actually hit pan on several powders and used up entire compacts but they do last a long time.
    One major recommendation I have is the Veil Retouching Fluid which is AMAZING and I use it mostly on my under eye area but can be used anywhere really. It is a thin formula but with coverage. If I find my concealer is wearing off or creasing after hours of wear time, I apply a small dot of this (EVEN OVER POWDER) and tap it in with my finger and it refreshes the area. I suppose it could be used alone as a lightweight concealer too. It’s a pretty underrated product that rarely gets mention but it’s a little magic that is always in my purse just in case.

      I have a few and thats how I use them:
      For ref. Iam very fair (NW10)
      Ethereal light: this shade has a lot of very very smal micro shimmer in it. It took me over a year and a project pan to finally enjoy it. I use it now as a undereye powder. It brightens like nothing else for me and the shimmer is fine enough to not emphasize anything bad under my eyes. It is beautiful and I get compliments for how fresh I look all the time since using it.
      But I would not use it all over tbe face.
      Diffused light: I used it under my eyes but on me it is not as brightening as EL.
      However it has much less shimmer in it and a beautiful glow. I can use this all over or at the center of my face for a wearable glow and it tones down rednes just a touch.
      I use it to blend out blush and bronzer when I was heavy handed and I use it to blend out eyeyshadow
      Dim light: this has 0 shimmer just a glow. I use it like a bronzer on the forehead, cheeks, jaw and blend down my neck. I have to build it up a bit if I want to skip bronzer and just use this product or I use it to blend everything together and add that beautiful glow.
      I use it to blend eyeyshadows when I want to add a bit of warmth at the same time.
      Dim light is a great shade!!
      Mood light: I use this as a blush or to add a touch of pink over my bronzer when I want to look like I was outside and got some sun. And I dont need highlighter when I have it on my cheeks.
      This shade has 0 shimmer and a bit more glow than Dim light. It is a bit more glowy than there regular AL Blushes.
      The glow in dim and mood is IMP like a pearl, that somewhat satin looking but still glowy looking beauty.

      I find that you can play with them - find your own unique way of using them. If you're going for minimalist makeup one day, the ambient light bronzer makes a great quick eyeshadow The benefit of using these powders is they make you look "lit from within."

    Really like this roundup of Hourglass products. You introduced the Veil primer in a video a lot of years ago and I’m so glad. It’s what I’ve used for years now. You said to get the large size and I’m thankful. Used the Diffused Light but haven’t used it for several years. Will pick up the limited edition quad this year, haven’t picked up any of the quads or 6 pan limited edition before. Would definitely love to see this series continue. Omg it’s like we are the same person. Love the bronzers, finishing powders, blush, face primer, brow pencil, scattered lights and hate the setting powder (didn’t control my oils, I need the talc and much prefer the Chanel loose powder) and the concealer (way tooo dry and finicky). Haven’t tried the eye primer but I will when it’s time to reup. Great video

    My #1 favorite Hourglass product, Holy Grail, is the Veil Translucent Setting Powder. I have normal to dry skin and that's what you mentioned who would like it. I've tried many other translucent powders but they never measured up. I do like the primer and the mascara but there are others I use as well. They aren't, however, HG for me. I do enjoy the ambient lighting powders and blushes. Loved your lip shade and liner today!

    Really appreciate how you didn't just trash those products that didn't work for you, but gave them honorable mention. Like I have dry skin, so the veil primer, while great, just doesn't work on my dry skin. But I still think it's a beautiful product. I LOVE almost all Hourglass products. I also recently bought the Veil stick foundation and OMG, it's ethereal! Just gorgeous, blends like a dream, looks flawless. But, again, I have dry skin, so it probably would aggravate your oilier areas. Great video!!!!!!!

    Great video! I’m 64 and I do like the concealer ONLY for my under eyes and only if the area is well moisturized! I find it does not need to be set and creases less than other products. But I can see why it might not work for everyone. Re the ambient powders ... I have minis of 2 blush colors and 1 bronzer color and love them so much! It will take me forever to hit pan and it’s a great way to try the products/colors.

    Hi Stephanie, I really loved your video! I always loved makeup but now approaching my 40's I gravitate towards more natural looks. With hourglass I was very reluctant at first because of it's price, but since I got my first palette I can officially say they worth every penny. I use the ghost palette everyday and I get comments about how fresh my face looks more than ever before! It's great to see videos like this one because I can decide what else I would like to try from the brand. I LOVE the hourglass ambient finish powders, I’m now convinced to get a pallet to replace a single mini that lasted me 11 mos! The product is so lovely and forgiving- a little goes a long way so it lasts forever- worth the $. Excited for the mascara too! I’ve been struggling with mascaras, however just recently I tried “unlashed” by wander beauty and it has been a good fit for me. Yes please more vids like this! -maybe for

  • @tammyvaught2210

    I didn’t like the concealer either. It made my undereyes look dry and crepey. I really like the loose powder but I can definitely see how it wouldn’t work for oily skin. My tzone gets oily in the summer and I don’t use that powder in the summer months because it doesn’t control oil. I think I’m the only one that doesn’t like the caution mascara. My natural lashes are very long and thick but that mascara made them look terrible. I only had the mini sample size so maybe the full size is better. I haven’t wanted to spend the money to find out though. The ambient powders are my holy grail products. They are amazing and look fantastic on mature skin in my opinion. Thank you so much for this video. I really enjoyed it and would love to see more videos of this type.

    I really wish Hourglass would expand their shade range so people of color could enjoy their products as well. Take their most recent complexion palette. Nothing stopped them from adding palettes for medium and deep skin tones. They know about this issue...they just can’t be bothered to do anything about it. SMH...they are leaving so much money on the table.

    • @Cara-39
      @Cara-39 Před 3 lety +2

      You're absolutely right. They don't need to make new formulas, only new shades, as they've done multiple times so there's no excuse for continuing to exclude multiple skintones. I'm vampire pale and all of the face powders in the holiday collections are too dark for me but they have Ethereal Light, the white Ambient Lighting powder, in the permanent line for skintones like mine. They don't have any for deeper skintones.

    • @jenniferwasko4540
      @jenniferwasko4540 Před rokem +3

      I don't agree. There are makeup companies that make a wide range of products for specific skin tones. That's their specialty. To require them to take their original creation and distort it in some way to make it accessible to everyone, really defeats the purpose. I would much rather be able to wear all those beautiful Pat McGrath highlighters or the Fenty golden yellow shade highlighter that's so popular and so gorgeous. But it just doesn't work for fair skin. So when I can't use the makeup created by one brand that I would love to use, knowing that it doesn't work well for fair-skinned, I just instead go find a brand that specializes in fair skin products. Their creations are so great as they are .... when you start messing with it to try to make one-size-fits-all, you end up with a failed product. A very great example of that would be the original hourglass ambient original palette. That was made for fair skin and they got so many complaints about that product not working for everyone in the world that they released a few more with the three pans for all skin tones and none of those took off at all. They just weren't as good. That is not the art that they created originally. they're not as good and people with dark skin tone that bought it didn't love it. Because the company had no choice but to fool with their beautiful creation to make it something else altogether. So years after their original release that was so well-received, they changed it to accommodate everyone, and the products didn't sell. They weren't as good. The good thing is that even if a makeup company specializes in Shades that do not work for everyone, there will always be another company that specializes in shades that work for dark skin tones only that are just as good. There are so many options and so many wonderful makeup friends like Pat McGrath that specializes in Darker skin tone. Even Pat McGrath highlighters that were put out for light skin tones are not half as popular as their original creations. I think we should just let makeup companies use their skill to come up with a masterpiece. Instead of trying to adjust the perfect product they made to accommodate everyone. There are hundreds of options for every skin tone for literally every makeup product. Kind of reminds me of the creation of Art. If that particular piece of art it's not right for you, for any reason, there most certainly is something just as good that will work that's already on the market.
      Maybe in their process of creating a formula, they aren't even considering skin tone and what they come up with in their formula either works for you or it doesn't work for you and that should be okay.

    You are one of a handful of YTers that I will drop everything to watch their new video! We have similar skin tone and skin type, so I love everything you do! You also made me buy the necklace you are wearing in the video today 🤣 Keep up the good work!

      Hi Gina! Here's my last concealer video: czcams.com/video/gaulphJvu9I/video.html I will say that I need to do an updated one b/c I have some new loves. The new Clinique that was in my IG stories this week and that I've talked about here several times is a huge frontrunner. Some that were in this video have been booted down on the list b/c of a few new discoveries! :)

    My fav HG product is the scattered light pot shadows. I own 3 shades and use them 75% of the time, usually as a topper over a similar cover base. Inevitably when I wear them someone always asks what I'm wearing on my eyes. They are the best and No dupe I've tried even compares!

    I adore the powders. They never let me down and make everything look finished. I bought my first powder, a blush, in a mini and was getting frustrated because i wasn't getting the payoff I expected. Then I heard Anti Aging Amber mention the importance of getting all the shades mixed on your brush. Bingo it worked. I was just using so little powder because that's all you need but not in the right way. I think if someone is trying Hourglass for the first time and wants blush don't get a mini. I had no problem with any other mini products. You and that brush are a hoot! I remember when you first got it and you said the exact same things about it then.

      Many of my dry skinned viewers love it as well. But your mileage may vary. :) The No 28 primer I mentioned is great for dry skin. The Veil is fantastic across a wider range of skin types and is fantastic for oily to normal and some dry as well. :)

      I don't use shadow to set my shadow primer because set as well as translucent powder. Sometimes, I'll top with powder all over and sometimes I apply it just from the crease and above and just let the primer grip onto my one and done type of shadows that I place on the lid. Thanks!

    I have decided you are my favorite CZcamsr and not just because we’re both NC25 and I can match colors. I specifically looked you up for Hourglass today because I want to treat myself to an ambient lighting palette. I want your recommendation to the best one for our coloring and I want one with the powders, blush, bronzer etc. Doesn’t have to be this year because I can probably find it even if it was limited edition. I’m also going to pick up a few of your others you recommended as in eyebrow, and face and eye primers. I have the brush and love it and I also like the powder but I use it as you said-just a small amount. If I were still in charleston I would be in your situation and it wouldn’t work. I also have combo skin. Look forward to your suggestions. I’m going to get the brush also. I’ve decided I want to try some more of her brushes.

    Yes.... You called it. The Hourglass powder is the only powder that I can use, so far with combination/dry skin. I am still looking for a less expensive version. I can use the No 7 shade and illuminate in my T zone in the summer. I won’t be able to use that in the Fall/Winter as my skin looses moisture.

    @cornelias.5271 Před 3 lety

    Ooh Hourglass, they are my favourite brand. I agree on your picks of good products. I would add the retouch fluid, if I can get away with light coverage I use this as concealer to even everything out. It is pretty much undetectable on the skin. And the confession lipsticks, I have some reds (a burtn orange, classic red and a darker red) and a darker MLBB. They last such a long time for a satin finish, are lightweight and have pretty good ingredients. Well the price is high but you can buy refills for less money and they last a while for me. And the Hourglass metallic strobe powder palette, they should make this a permanent formula! It is outstanding, it looks more like a cream or liquid but with the easy use of powder.
    I have not tryed your worst picks, dont wear foundation ecept bareminerals original sometimes (just primer, concealer and then all my powders) and I hate liquid lips.
    I hope they expand there shade range. I am very fair (NW10) and can use most of there products. But they need to add darker shades!
    Greetings from austria and sorry for my spelling :)
